  • These resettable fuses are polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) device, which is used to help protect against harmful overcurrent surges and overtemperature faults. Like traditional fuses, these devices limit the flow of dangerously high current during fault conditions. However, the fuse resets after the fault is cleared and power to the circuit is removed. The PPTC operates like a resistor. During normal operations it has a resistance of about 0.07 Ohm letting more than enough current flow through. During a fault condition the temperature and resistance of the fuse increases letting much less current through. When the fault has been rectified and the fuse cools down the resistance returns to its normal level.Widely used in critical aerospace, Telecom & nuclear power station applications

    Thank you so much for your informative videos. They are equally great for the novices and the professionals.
    I have a problem which has been haunting me for a long time.
    We have a 3 phase electric connection. Our ELCB trips on and off, sometimes once in two or three days & sometimes a few times in a single day. Tried switching off and on all electrical equipments one after another, without any success, to identify the culprit. It just happens randomly. Sought the help of one electrician who failed to detect the cause and said it's due to earthing somewhere which he couldn't locate. Can you please do a video on how to manage such a problem?

      Yes its same character as PTC...But PTC ക്ക് അൽപം റെസിസ്സ്റ്റൻസ് കൂടുതൽ ഉണ്ട് . Resettable fuse ഇതിനു വളരെ കുറഞ്ഞ റെസിസ്റ്റൻസ് ആണ് Milli ohms range... Specially designed to handle short circuit
