I did my Light Speed self infating pad. it was really hard to take the remaining foam off. I had to use a sharp knife to scrape it off. and you were right. I had to use a lot more heat then I thought. It was a success! thanks again friend!
OR.....you could buy the raw materials for sfa and make the whole thing from scratch. You OBVIOUSLY did a good enough job on the mod so the skill is already there
Cut it open at the bottom, or close to where the separation is (but it must be at one of the seams). Re-glue the separated part, and re-seal like in this video.
