I once had a persian cat brought to the shelter who was so matted that his coat felt like a plaster cast. You could see fleas and their friends running under the mats. My groomer was gentle and slow with him. When the cat realized what we were doing he let it happen. When we got down to skin he shook and his teeth chattered. He was reacting to having his skin touched and enjoying it very much. When we finished he fell asleep, likely his first restful sleep in years. When you make that break through they are extremely grateful. This poor pup was really hurting but they had to do it, the only way to help him. You did a great job, gentle and patient.
Thank you for being so kind and selfless to help. When we all do this this planet will be a better place, so much gratitude.

Y do people treat them so badly no love n empathy for them it makes me so angry
100% agree. it makes me so angry and sad seeing neglected animals in this state of neglect, sadly it seems to happen all over the world. Thank goodness for him and his partner, who provide grooming help.
People that mistreat animals are the worst. That poor dog. Thank you being so caring for him.
I agree, animals and children are OFF LIMITS! (and the elderly of course) ANYONE that cant protect themselves is an absolute HANDS OFF unless it is loving and caring! Really, we should treat every living being with love, kindness, respect, and compassion!❤

Bless this sweet baby and Bless you guys! My mother and I found a little dog on the inside lane of a busy Interstate when I was home visiting my parents. It took me 3 hours to bathe and trim her because she was so matted . Then we took her to the vet and got her tons of meds and checked out. Once she was all fixed up she was the most precious little Shih Tzu. She immediately took everyone and we all fell in love with her. Long story short she it turned out was pregnant & New Years Eve Lucy was taken yo the ER and had 4 precious puppies Mickey, Billy Rudy and Lola. Unfortunately, the runt ( sweet Rudy) passed away because he was not developing properly but my parents kept them all. That was about 18 years ago . Sweet Mickey was the last to pass away just last year at 17 years old. All I can think of watching this sweet boy is how a poor matted little dog on the Interstate changed all of our lives forever. I hope he gets to live a wonderful life❤❤❤

He looks like a sweet little guy. Did you notice that he smiled for you when you were nearly done. He was telling you that he had been scared, but he felt so much better.
He is basically friendly .This just hurts .bless this boy I pray he finds a great home .

That poor guy, could not even scratch his own ears for so long. As soon as the hair was short, he started scratching his ears. It probably felt so good. Great job.
All that weight was not good for his joints but yes, smelling and scratching himself probably felt amazing. Bath time, another miracle. Things that many take for granted.
His ears were most likely very itchy after being shaved as well. Matting limits the ability of blood flow so when they are on the ears and then removed, the blood flowing back in most closely relates to how your feet or hands fall asleep and the tingling sensation when you start “waking” them back up.

@@kyliewalker6647 That wasn't a judgement, that was experience. I once had a chunk of wax pulled from my ear canal, taking some hairs with it. It itched for *days*.

@@CindyFarr-fb5nl That is not correct for this dog. Clearly, it's the same dog (you can see the sore on his back was healing) and he's in someone's home with the other dogs. Also, this guy has a grooming business and is obviously very caring and compassionate toward the dog while grooming him. If it were all about money, he'd not be so gentle - like stopping to pet the dog, being extremely careful around his sore, private parts, eyes, ears, etc.
I think he's being really good considering how sensitive his skin must be from those mats pulling on it for so long. It just seems to be his hind legs and back end. You guys are awesome, I love your patience and what you do for these poor pups. Thank you for sharing with us.
He must be a really good tempered dog. He might have complained some, but never tried to bite & considering the pain from the matts & some wounds, he hardly complained really. Going to make someone a very good doggo.

Yes you are likely correct, because of the hair getting in the way when the dog was trying to eat...if food was also entangled it would begin to smell bad. THAT type of removal was to benefit the people around him more than the dog's personal comfort. They could have found it another home before it got to that point...they didn't want to put in the menial work involved in a daily or even monthly brushing. However if the person was disabled I'd hope family or neighbors would intervene. We may never know. But pupper was controlling his fear to a high level considering the enormous task of kind strangers.
@@animerlon He never tried to bite because his muzzle was tightly tied. This is a barbaric practise and adds to the trauma of his treatment.

Que videoo tan aburrido y si bien ayudan al perro, no lo acarician, no lo premian simplemente lo someten a un ruido que a estos animales con su sensibilidad acústica lo debe torturar.
Para ayudar hay que tomar en cuenta la sensiibilidad de quien se ayuda, el animalito no tenia fuerzas ni para aullar

It is crucial to remove all the dog's fur so that the veterinarian can detect dermatological diseases, tumors, and other problems. All animals, including horses,,are groomed with electric clippers. Noiseless electric clippers do not exist. Scissors do not work on such catastroohic matting. Please display your ignorance elsewhere: on non-animal topics.
That poor baby!! His responses were not out of fear, they were out of *PAIN!*!! Look how good he's being for the most part, those random growls and attempts at biting are his only way of *saying* THAT HURTS or THAT SPOT IS EXCRUCIATING. His skin must be sooooo sore and extremely tender...I think he is being a complete angel considering the pain he has to be enduring.
Just imaging having to spend every moment of your life with your hair being constantly pulled...you've not even considered that he might have an injury or have to go out to pee or maybe he just needs a break!!! You, yourself said that he will go to be checked out by a veterinarian...You are wonderful for helping this little guy, don't ruin that by being ignorant and unempathetic to what the poor baby is going through...it must be seriously traumatizing for him!

He acknowledged that it hurt! Well if you don’t want the dog to have the specific pain done while grooming him, I guess the dog will just have to die of a skin infection or some other related disease.

I found myself quietly trying to comfort him even though this is a video. Poor pup to be left to that condition. You are both so patient and understanding of not only how he might react but _why_ he will. Bless you for caring for these animals in need.
Same, some gentle encouragement / maybe showing him and letting him sniff what is coming off would have been enough to calm him / explain in doggy language. Bless them all , a job well done, it was like sharing a sheep !😢😢😢😢😢😢❤💝👍

I guess all of that hair saved him from the mosquitos that would give him heartworm. Poor little dude, glad to see he is feeling better. Thanks for your hand in helping him.
Dogs don't get heart worm from mosquitos, but from the poop of a dog with heart worm. I think the eggs are transferred by smell, and then incubate in the git of the new host.
How sweet it got adopted, I so agree if a person can’t take care of an animal, it’s better not to have none.

Deliberate abandonment is cruelty, but I can't help thinking he came from a loving home, but something went terribly wrong. Maybe his human died and there was no one to care for him anymore. Things happen in life. Anyway, I'm glad he was rescued and brought back to life. He is a sweetie.

@@stephaniecarrow4898 yes, he did not look emaciated, or like a rescue. He was well fed, clean white teeth (when he smiled at groomer). His coat was neglected for a LONG time though, if he was abandoned he'd be really skinny, and clearly wasn't. I too wonder how he got like that.

You are so patient with the poor, petrified dog. You could see as you were nearly finished, he was smiling. Once you put him on the floor, he was soooo very happy and grateful for your help. He looks so happy. Bless you both for helping these forgotten animals.

It's so hard for an animal that's been abused/neglected, feeling horrible/in pain, to understand that what's happening is going to make them feel so much better, and help keep them healthy. It really takes a ton of patience and empathy from the people working with them.

When I first saw the dog, before watching the video, I thought someone placed a mop on him. I’m watching this with my miniature schnauzer laying next to me, and I’ve had to mute this. Thank you so much for what you did here.

I would 100% take a dog like this to the vet first. He's in a lot of pain and needed at least some pain relief and or sedation for a groom. The way he's acting on his back end could mean he has a fractured pelvis or worse. I really hope this poor little boy is feeling better and now without pain 🙏🏻

I also thought at least some sedation could help, considering there's no info on his health, and how scared he is, they could have ended up with a dog with a heart attack or something :( but otherwise that's one lucky dog.
