Madam, I am from India - Bangalore. I had twice Radio Iodine treatment for hyperthyriod. My doctor didn't explain me the consequences after complete thyroid gland ablation. Does Radio Iodine ablation is a permanent damage? Or Cells will regrow in thyriod gland? Please advise

It depends on how much the radio iodine destroyed. It is permanent, your cells won’t regrow. Once your thyroid is destroy, it’s gone forever and since it’s gone. You would be taking levy and other medications (you would become hypo after RAI) which is hormone replacement which your body would need since you no longer have thyroid to help produce hormones naturally. There is still a small chance that RAI didn’t completely destroy the rest of your thyroid, but the main goal is to prevent your hyperthyroid from growing back.

I had radioactive iodine back in 1984 for cancer of my thyroid. Only thing I’ve ever had was sarcoidosis in my lungs for a year. Doing just fine 😊

I had Graves’ disease. Also back problems. My chiropractor wanted X-rays and when X-rays came back, he wanted more X-rays as they found a large mass in my chest. Long story but my thyroid grew a massive goitre on the back side of thyroid gland and was so heavy it dropped into my chest cavity.i went to see a neck and throat surgeon. He took out the mass. I thought that was the end of the story. Was put on thyroid meds. Everything seemed fine , but about 8 years later I got very jittery and my heart rate was high. My family doctor took me off synthroid. Then back to my surgeon. Found out then that there was pieces left behind. One is by my heart. He thought would be a tricky surgery. Was sent to an endocrinologist. She decided to try radioactive iodine to kill the little monster. Had 2 rounds of radioactive iodine, but there was no change to my thyroid levels. Tomorrow I go for an injection of radioactive iodine then the next day will go for a scan. My fingers and toes are crossed that this time my thyroid will destroyed. Has anyone ever heard of such a case?

I had 210 mc of Rai ablation at UC Davis in Sacramento. I completely regret it I am in my 40's now and this took place in my late 20's. The dosage was so strong that it permanently fried out my saliva and submandibular glands. With having no saliva coating my perfect beautiful teeth over a slow 10 year decay I had to end up getting all of my teeth pulled. I am now in dentures which are very painful and I completely regret doing the radiation treatment I wish I could go back and tell my younger self do not do it! I miss my beautiful teeth that I kept up so nice! On the bright side I'm still alive but I think the dose was just extreme. That dose that I had is illegal in the UK. Thanks for the video my son is a student at UCLA❤

What happend to ur teeth??? I also had tooth problem after rai

@@FaisalSarwar-n2z my permanent retainer literally cinched into the teeth that it was glued on to. Any animal or a good coating that I had on my teeth was completely gone. I permanently lost having saliva in my mouth so over a 10-year period my teeth slowly started to decay. I would use the imitation saliva spray, really anything on the market for dry mouth and I just couldn't stop it from happening it did take a long time but I ended up having to just let them go. Is very unfortunate because I took great care of my teeth, but one lesson I learned from this is I will never judge people with messed up teeth ever again because this taught me that they could have bad teeth for a variety of reasons.
