I was diagnosed with Graves disease in November 2021. I had bouts of palpitations, hand tremors , insomnia, regular bowel movements, anxiety issues just to name a few . I went for a regular check up - cholesterol, liver, blood work etc. That's where they picked up a low tsh level, but high ft3 and ft4 levels. I did a thyroid test and it was confirmed - Graves disease. I saw the endocrinologist the following year January 2022, and he told me that i had the early stages of Graves disease. He put me on NeoMercozale for 1 month - 8 tablets a day (5mg). Did a blood test to check the t3 and t4 levels stabilized and he reduced my dosage to 4 tablets a day. The next step was to consider the Radio Active Iodine or surgery, however as you said surgeries are meant for extreme cases such as thyroid cancer. The NeoMercazole would eventually balance the condition out after two years. However , he warned me that other complications could arise such as bone marrow problems, skin issues, thyroid storms , low white blood cell count etc. To cut a long story short , 1 week before taking the RAI , he put me onto Lithium tablets - Camcolit 400mg for the anxiety issue. The lithium also helps with the absorption of the Iodine from the RAI.
I have since taken the RAI , and hope for the best.Currently in self-isolation for 7days.

People should also be informed of all the side effects the iodine can create. Like MDS etc

What about age? Is age a factor in determining RAI treatment after papillary thyroid cancer?

@slipdisco As far as I know, age is not a factor. I'm 60.

@nwo detox I've actually had three RAI treatments since surgery for the cancer. All of my blood tests are normal except for a high TSH. I don't know if that is related to the treatments.

i started taking Lugol’s iodine every morning 3 weeks ago and i feel amazing. i can even swallow better, no poking feeling in my throat anymore. it really works. our thyroid needs real iodine to work and regulate our body. it kills cancer 🌺💖

@@christinakinnear8239 I respect your opinion, but it simply isn't true. Radioactive iodine has been used in thyroid cancer treatment longer than either of us have been alive. If normal iodine worked as you say it does, RAI treatment would not exist.
