Best memory is going to the 2014 AFL Grand Final.
Was an absolute memorable day.
Got to meet 5 hawks players after the game and was truly a great day
Sounds great 👍🏻
OMG IM HERE EXACTLY 3 YEARS LATER
Imagine Carlton vs Essendon fighting for the 17th premiership!
As an Essendon fan… I couldn’t handle pressure and probably explode.
This isn't really correct, if you're gonna say that Sydney have won 5 premierships because South won 3, then just say that Brisbane have won 11 because they won 8 as Fitzroy and 3 as Brisbane, and if you're gonna count all the premierships the Victorian teams won in the VFL then you've gotta count the premierships that port won in the SANFL, and the Premierships that Freo won in the WAFL.
Sydney/South Melbourne has always been one team whereas Fitzroy and Brisbane were seperate for quite some time before the Brisbane lions existed, Ports premierships don’t count to their AFL total because the SANFL has always been a seperate league whereas the AFL is just the original VFL expanded and renamed, Freo haven’t won any WAFL premierships because the Dockers have no connection to East/South or the original Fremantle Football Club
Update log:
+1 to Melbourne (2021)
+1 to Geelong (2022)
Technically fitsoroy have the most
Triggered a lot of power supporters by saying they only won 1 😂
Fremantle, Gold Coast and GWS supporters are even more triggered.
You should have mentioned that port won a fucktonne of SANFL premierships.
But then also explained that no one cares about the SANFL.
What about do a video of the most dominant teams in the AFL period, such as premierships, finals, wins etc
That could be good
great video love the history ones and also the Guernsey videos! at the moment Carlton and Essendon are on top but that may change in the next couple of years
Yeah I definitely don’t see Essendon winning one for a while
@@mattn1 I take it as an Essendon Win since they won their last in 2000 and Carlton won their last in 1995 so that's what I think. Btw I am a Carlton Fan so I am not saying Essendon should be the winner because i go for them cause I do not! I actually had never known Carlton had won a Premiership before sine I wasn't alive back then.
I enjoyed this video.

Hi Matt N. Cheers for another great one I'm a big fan of your vidz. And your imagination Can you could do an episode on a particular theory IV been thinking about for a while?. I, like you believe that AFL is the fastest, most exciting and athletic form of football that human beings have ever invented. Over the years the AFL has had a number of big marketing campaigns to increase international exposure with let's be honest lousy results. Decades of this battle plan has failed to yield significant traction. I have been asking myself, If we were to ever crack the market of say the United states how would it be done?. How could AFL even get a foothold in a nation that has other huge sports to complete with.? I have come up with a strategy and I'd love to see your thoughts on it. The theory is simple. In one word KIDS. What if each AFL team picks a town/ region of the United States to set up base. And introduce Ozkick to every school in the area from grade 1-4 or 5 whichever. And stuck to the program for 5 years. Double down on the same process but include junior high this time for another 5 years. As the decade draws to a close the AFL would have indoctrinated thousands of children to this great game. Where the love for the game would spread. Those kids by then would have taught other kids and so on. Now here's the kicker. Because each current AFL club has spread themselves out over the country and is a founding organiser of the Ozkick program in that area the local town would create a kinship with that club. And maybe even call themselves I don't know the New Haven Lions or Pleasentville Hawks. You know what I mean. Anyway my questions is. Which areas of the USA for which clubs? What would those teams look like? And how long would it take until a full blown league over there. Or at least a good feeder competition that funnels great talent into the AFL at home to create a truly cosmopolitan league here. 👍 Thanks once again 👍
Please feel free to expand on the idea and expose any holes👍
That’s an interesting theory, definitely some potential there
@@mattn1 obviously there is more to think about. The idea is that each and every AFL club establish a brother city so to speak. Basically each club has a US branch. But ONLY Ozkick, for the first 10 years. Just children. It's fun and great exercise. Everything else will formulate itself after the ground work has been established 👍
The USAFL is going along in strides. But yes I agree a younger demographic interested in the game is needed in order for the game to grow
Best video yet
Premierships won before 1990s where in the VFL before it became the AFL
But they’re still counted as it’s the same league with a name change
@@mattn1 but they shouldn't be one was the VFL and other is the AFL .
VFL was dead in the water until the interstate sides saved the comp and transferred it into the AFL era.
But it was still one continuous league that new sides joined
@@steveo4095 they should be because there the same team
@@steveo4095 there was no transfer of league's, its the same league just different name. Their was already interstate teams playing in the League before it was even called the AFL.
2013 was the best because of Hawks defeat Fremantle
😢
@@mattn1 my brother go for Fremantle and I annoyed him
That’s not very nice 😂
GO HAWKS!
Hawthorn won because they played the game as if they were just playing a normal match. Fremantle, with lack of finals experience, got overawed by the occasion and played as if it was a finals match. They would have done better if they treated it as a normal match (of course this is difficult when not experienced with finals play).
On average the most successful is Hawthorn (since a club has won a premiership)
Nice video mate
do a redesign of the tasmanian state league
That could be interesting 👍🏻
girls who dont know afl:
OMG RIP Geelong 1925 - 2011 🤣
If you are going to count VFL flags as AFL ones, then you need to include SANFL for Port. So thats 36 flags for Port Adelaide, obviously the greatest club in Australia!
The VFL and AFL are one continuous league that was renamed in the early 90s, when port Adelaide entered the AFL, they were seperate to the team that played in the SANFL
@@mattn1 the VFL approached PAFC and asked them to help join and create the AFL. The only reason why Port had to enter as a seperate entity was because the SANFL stepped in and said no, then took it all to court. Eventually they were able to join, but not as part of PAFC, part of the legal proceedings. Eventually 2 decades later, Port Power were officially and legally allowed to be part of PAFC (like it was meant to be from the start). No it wasnt a smooth ride, however everyone involved from PAFC, the AFL, and even SANFL (after pafc paid them $20m for the rights to their own AFL license) now agree that they are part of PAFC, and part of its history.
As for the VFL, they didnt just continue the same league, they didnt go around asking for clubs to join a state league, they went around asking for help to create a national league. Yes it came from the VFL, but it is not the same league, nor should it be treated like it is.
Ur kidding? The vfl is the afl just different names and sanfl is a completely different leaque
You obviously don't remember a club called Fitzroy. You are happy to add South's flags to Sydney but not Fitzroy to Brisbane? Do your research properly next time you goose.
Fitzroy are mentioned, maybe watch the entire video properly next time you goose 👍🏻
South Melbourne Swans relocated to Sydney and became the Sydney Swans, same club. Brisbane Lions is a new club formed in 1996 off a merger between Fitzroy Lions and Brisbane Bears, you cant give Fitzroy Premierships to Brisbane because its not the same club. Those 8 premierships belong to the still existent Fitzroy Football Club that competes in the VFA now.
Do Southern football league
I love how you made mention of Fitzroy and didn't add their 8 premierships to Brisbanes 3 (which should be 11 Premierships), Yet you mentioned South Melbourne as well and then proceeded to add their 3 Premierships to Sydneys 2 (making it 5), Both Clubs merged. Fitzroy wasn't so lucky as such though due to their financial debt - Up the Tigers
South Melbourne didn’t merge, they were relocated, they’re still the same club while Fitzroy and Brisbane were seperate at one stage
@@mattn1 Then you really should have added South's premierships to the tally. Why do you think Sydney fans always refer to the 2005 premiership as the "drought breaker"?
Collingwood has are choked lots of times
"Has are" you speak English very well
@@mohuuul2524 what do you mean
GET fucked pies are the best!!
@@landcruiserfan4206 choked the 2018 gf lol

Lol no one cares
Fitzroy?
I mentioned Fitzroy
Counting VFL premierships but not SANFL premierships for port seems odd, otherwise good vid!
Maybe because they're different league's?
@@jackhudson2237 yeah but this is an 'AFL' list, so include both or neither
@@Neiropa the SANFL isn't the AFL though, thats why Port's Premierships aren't counted. The AFL is the continuation of the previous VFL league, the 14 clubs that competed in VFL 1989 was the same 14 clubs that competed in AFL 1990. How do people not know this.
@@jackhudson2237 the VFL also isn't the AFL mate. The AFL was a transition into a nation wide competition. the VFL still exists separately, as does the SANF, and the WAFL, etc, etc.
@@Neiropa there was no transition into a new league, its the same league, they just changed the name. Were you even alive in 1990?
