    Isn't that curving spur the remains of the wye connection (Kings Creek) of the former Crisfield Branch? I used to drive over from Baltimore to do some RR exploring on the Eastern Shore back in the early 1970s when I first got my license. A lot of now-abandoned branches were still operating back then to towns like - West Ocean City, Pittsville, Hebron, Preston, Queenstown, and Denton. The branch from Easton to McDaniel had just been pulled up, but the bridge at Newcomb was still in place which I took a few photos of. The unused Vienna Branch coming from Hurlock was still existing and owned by DelMarVa Power & Light in case they would need to switch back to burning coal at the Vienna plant. I remember when they were burning coal in the 1960s with several PRR coal hoppers spotted in their yard. At the time, it was the busiest branch that was a remnant of the old Baltimore, Chesapeake & Atlantic RR.

      Per abandoned rails (www.abandonedrails.com/crisfield-branch) you are correct! This line ran to Ocean City and used to have passenger rail service there. There was a draw bridge that would be accessed to get to Ocean City. I still want to get out there and explore also, and get the feeling of history!

      @@DelmarvaRailProductions I know what you mean. I could kick myself now for not taking more photos of the branches on my treks to the Eastern Shore back then. It was tricky to catch any operations on those lightly used lines since service was pretty much on an as needed basis. For instance, on one trip I saw a boxcar spotted on a customer siding near end of line in Queenstown along US301. After doing some exploring in other locations during the day I stopped by Queenstown again on the way back to the Bay Bridge just to find the car had been picked up sometime earlier - a missed opportunity to catch some rare branchline operations.

      Do you have any photos of the hurlock to Vienna track? My family including myself have a rich railroad history in hurlock and would love to see it

    • @shortliner68
      @shortliner68 4 года назад

      @@chaseandrews852 Unfortunately I don't. When it was still an operating branch to Vienna, I'd only see it briefly from US50 while coming and going on once-a-Summer trips to Ocean City with my aunt and uncle. I was only in my teens at the time and my relatives were anxious to get to OC without taking time to stop so I could explore and photograph railroad operations along the way. You could still see remains of creek crossings on the east side of the Nanticoke where the line once continued to Mardela Springs. By the time I had a car and license in the early '70s the Vienna Branch and branches to Pittsville and McDaniel were history...sadly. According to Google Maps, there is still some interchange trackage at Hurlock which extends a couple blocks south before disappearing.

      @@shortliner68 yes stops before rt392 now was talks about opening that spur up for Koski trucking but hasn’t happened yet. Hurlock to Cambridge is now still dormant

      @@jermainewyatt1995 I'm working on getting more video from down there. That's basically what my channel is about, getting videos all around Delmarva, but what also has a factor is the time I have and the money I have to fuel to get down there. So basically its a "wait and go!" game.

    These Seaford have the room to yard and separate the cars for SE-1 and SE-2 from HA-3? What is the yard tracks south of Delmar going to be used for? Car Storage?

    • @DelmarvaRailProductions
      @DelmarvaRailProductions  4 года назад

      Apologies for late reply, HA-3 is the Frankford Local, but I think your talking about HA-2, the yard will still be used. SE-1 crew will have to come down to Delmar with their engines (per the post I read and remembered a while ago on the Delmarva Central Railroad group), all it is Delmar is no longer a place for crews to get ready for their jobs. SE-1 does go on duty at 10PM, SE-2 will relieve the SE-1 crew in the early morning AM hours. I'll see if I can get any additional information from the group, too.

      Delaware railfan everything is the same except with DE-1 and DE-2. HA-1 that goes to Clayton is still normal.
