- UK Gladiators - Series 7 1998 - Episode 5 - Heat 5 - 3rd October 1998
Kate Evers (Inventory controller from Andover, Hampshire) versus Maria Ward (Professional lifeguard from North London but originally from Romania)
Alex Reid (Martial arts instructor from Aldershot, Hampshire) versus Rudi Kennard (University student and part-time model from Isleworth, West London but originally from South America)
Notes: Two new events, Dogfight and Vertigo are in the fifth heat for each of their third appearances, but each of their theme tunes is slightly changed: Pursuit theme tune for Vertigo and Pyramid theme tune for Dogfight. Vertigo is played as a whole event for all men and women whilst Dogfight is played as a split event for the women for the first time because Sumo Ball is for the men.
Gauntlet finally appears in the fifth heat for its second appearance after four shows but will continuously be played for odd numbered heats in an event line-up as a core event and a chest guarded event and put on the fifth event.
Absent: Cobra and Diesel.
Good that they actually got Rio to do games outside of Duel, Suspension Bridge, Powerball, Whiplash and Gauntlet this season. Dogfight really wasn't her game but she did alright at Vertigo.
WOW. The crowd are all taunting with John Anderson, The UK Referee.
The contenders got 138 points off the Gladiators on this show. And no injuries so far this season.

Alex won the one after Ulrika
Hunter started this season kind of slowly. He had plenty of points scored against him on Powerball and he suffered his first defeat on The Wall in 4 years in this episode.
That said, this episode featured two more strong male contenders for season 7. They made it up the Wall in 21 seconds! And their Eliminator was quite close.

At 30:44 it looks like Maria hit the side of Siren's Chest-plate rather than the centre not sure if that should've counted.

What on earth was Wolf doing at the end of Vertigo he appeared to grab the Silver Ring then he let it go again!
Surely a fix
The production staff often done things to rig the games. Like picking gladiators that would give contenders the most or least chance in games as well as varying the speed of the travellator at the end.
Wth Katie price's ex Alex Reid is in this episode of gladiators that was a surprise

Have you got Episode 3?
Don't know if Maria was shy or that's her character, but she was such a bore to listen to. Quite easy on the eyes though. And she filled those knickers quite well.
I doubt Rudi would have made it up the travellator even if he hadn't tripped on the final beam, but he had to throw the dice there. Otherwise he's just hoping his opponent can't make it up.

He was meant to move onto the ring, not just touch it, so I think the contender won fair and square.
Not the only time something like that happened with Wolf, I think he was the producers' go-to guy if they wanted a contender to get a victory, either by being out-classed or by throwing it. The amount of times he "fell off" The Wall was more than a little suspicious.

@@davidfearis7335Looking back at the Slow Motion Replay, Maria had a CLEAR HIT TWICE on Siren’s Pressure Pad, but the first strike, it wasn’t registered as a ‘Hit’ with any pyrotechnics signifying that by anyone on the production team, it’s a good job that the decision was overturned after a in-depth almost VAR-like check backstage with John Anderson there, amazing that someone from the audience has a better acknowledgment than the referee here!
