One way I deal with envy is I remind myself how awesome it feels to receive birthday wishes on Facebook from friends, loved ones and acquiantances. I also have to congratulate and send birthday wishes to others when it's their day. It is not always your turn to be happy or the center of attention... be patient and work towards it.

This is so true. I had the same thought not too long along. It’s also when things are going good to easier to be positive, it’s until a mountain of negatives that comes crashing on you when it gets hard to stay in a positive mindset.

I don't like when people subconsciously compare me to others, or say stuff to get a reaction from me.
The problem is not that I have a problem but that they think I have a problem which is a flawed perception of who I really am, that my biggest issue with humanity.
Great advice. As a certified personal trainer for the last 11 years, this is the approach I say to my clients. It's all in how you think.

So true. Took U courses all summer after doing the regular year and it's been a long haul. Finally down to the last assignment. I could think.. ugh another one, then only have 3 weeks off. Or I could say...yesss down to my last assignment then I have 3 weeks of freedom, then I'm going into my final year! I waited so long to go to university, I'm on the home stretch and this is exiting! That mind shift changes everything. Often we have to choose these thoughts on purpose until they become more of a habit.

Being able to be humble and open minded, and adjust himself...
It's about not feeding it while putting cast iron boundaries on it. I got it down many years ago, have a detailed, classic behavioral approach. And it sure works with this sample of one. Please do reply if interested.

Isn't reality a bit more harsh from time to time? Like, okay I get it: someone gets a promotion - so I try not to get angry.
But then again, we know that not all promotions are based on what a person can do - but rather on personal relationships. Like maybe the one, who gets the promotion went to the same school as the manager. Maybe he is the son of some important figure in the company, maybe she had an intimate relationship with someone who's relevant for that particular promotion and so on. Things like that happen on a regular basis - so would it be okay, to envy that sort of occurance? How do I deal with that?
Hey Simon, is it possible that companies just squeeze out performances from employees by presenting downshift in their performance/job? Miss the ideal company/organization.

There’s no point feeling envious of others. The only one that we should be comparing ourselves to is who we were yesterday. Envy is a dangerous thing - it can eat us up. We have the power to not let it. If other people are doing better than us, we should feel inspired to work on improving ourselves instead of being envious.
one should find enjoyment in what they are doing- if you want the fitness over with, that is just dumb to do it--find exercise you enjoy then you are in the powerful now. Otherwise it has little benefit.
Easier said than done.
