It was a cool game. I never did finish it though. And my sole reason for buying it was because I could buy dlc armor to dress up as Griffith and Guts, which looked totally badass tbh.
It's worth going back and finishing it if you play the "Dark Arisen" version of the game. It fixes a couple of big flaws with the original (giving you more fast travel points is the biggest one) and adds the best part of the game, Bitterblack Isle. Capcom had to take out the Berserk items though. You could mod them back in if you're on PC.
I was one of the people he mentioned that quit at the hydra head escort mission. I hate boring escort quests. Then when we got to the city it was so boring there was almost nothing to do there so I uninstalled. Excited to play through this one, I hope it is more streamlined and doesn't make you wait to get to the fun parts.
I have never played the first part but I think I will play this one. If Guts and Griffith armors are in the game I will use those non stop. Would be extra cool if they would do a proper collab and the armors are the real deal just like in the manga.
If Dragons Dogma 2 comes pozzed with postmodern crap that Capcom already nod to the implementation in its most recent products, then it'll turn into Dragons Smegma.

Anytime a more niche genre becomes "AAA" or just incredibly popular with marketing it's a bad sign, just look at Cyberpunk, or the souls games for a better example. Everything is dumbed down, less unique and more streamlined for "modern audiences" (Casuals).
Yeah because dark souls 3 was worse than 2 get out of here dark souls is amazing I’ll give you cyberpunk but there’s never been a cyberpunk game before. You argument is invalid
The Souls series didn't really become casual-friendly: you might have gotten this impression because you got good by the time III came out, the only pro-casual change was the massive health handicap to invaders in III wich to me was the worst in the series.

One thing I see in that all of steps have in common , is that they deal with lowering one's expectations. One could argue that anyone exciting for any particular product would have a hard time doing any of those. So in reality essentially those who are interested in a product or in this example a video game , should kill (or lower)their interest in a game that they were interested in😂😂
Its funny how this mindset changed. Back then Developers sent apologies for breaking bugs or glitches, even made fun of them in next titles or thanked people who found them in some way as easter egg. Considering that NONE of the five new female characters in Street Fighter 6 are hot girls, Im skeptical about Capcom allowing us to create our own in DD2. Hope Im wrong.
Have you not seen the Character creation trailer? Also the named female npcs they've shown in the various story trailers are quite pretty. Wilhelmina, Ulrika, and the elven sister (forgot her name) they've shown have attractive features and look like women instead of men.
There a lot of stuff in sequel taken out not from original game, but from Dragon's Dogma: Online. Which was almost as good* as original, yet only published in Japan. Like one weapon with four skills, or archer and thief split, or mystic spearman. *Or better, if you wanted to play it in full coop. And that was a blast.
Hate to break it to you, but the creator of Indiana Jones, George Lucas, has always been a massive liberal and a feminist. Did you also shit your pants when Leia was more capable than Han and Luke in Star Wars?
Yo synth. We both love Dragon's Dogma, but I have a slightly different take. I do like the world, and I like the lore, though admittedly it was not that deep. I also liked the pawn system the idea of forming a party that actually remembers what they've done was appealing to me. I would approve of a smarter AI, and more dialog with the pawns. I also find that illusionist class interesting and it appeals to me as someone who enjoys magic. Be it summoning monsters, tornados, and fireballs or even illusion magic. The biggest thing that makes me less keen to buy the game is they went away from the "man and woman" to "Type A type b" Also I think, in the original game, they had scales like "macho" which I enjoyed. The attempt of blackrock to "Desex" humanity sickens me.
The lore was not deep but it certainly was shocking. One day you are playing most basic fantasy game (go kill the dragon), another day you are going into some wacky stuff. The difference made it interesting.
Face it, the only manly game in the industry now is the Yakuza games. And even in that they are going to kill off the main character in the upcoming game. It's sad but even more reason to just quit gaming (or play old school games only)!
""Type A type b" " that's the thing that is making you reconsider buying? Such stupidly irrelevant thing? Not the tons of issues the first game had they won't fix or will even make it worse, the lack of coop, or the fact that it's a low-effort, soulless sequel?
the warrior in the gameplay was just level 15 and the player was new to DD so he didnt know what he was doing and for the content, Itsuno said in an interview that even at the Borders of the Map you will find People and Monsters and Things to Explore so im hyped for DD2

Granblue Fantasy will be a good but remember that anime games tend to cheap out in game development. Like even Fate/Samurai Remnant sounded like it would be easy GOTY but it cheaped out despite being from a major franchise. Also they didn't add Arulumaya and more Harvins in general.
The fast travel will be in either the form of port crystals and ferrystones, or via riding oc carts. You can use ferrystones to teleport to a Port Crystal, but ferrystones are rare and will disappear with each use. Alternatively you can pay to ride an ox cart and choose to rest so time will skip, but there is a chance you may end up attacked on the way to your destination.

Ahh, this release is going to be torture for me. Dragon's Dogma also is one of my all time favourite games but I'm working on a total conversion mod for Fallout 4 which comes out a month after Dragon's Dogma 2, so I'll be busy working on that mod before I can play this game.
I played the first years ago on the PS3 and just thought it was kinda bland, I think I made it at least to the goblin infested Shadow Fort, quest wise, before quitting when I explored The Bluemoon Tower before I was actually ready to fight that high of a level. I didn't even think about it again until I saw all the hype surrounding Dragon's Dogma 2's announcement and your videos/streams specifically and I eventually gave it another shot since it went on sale on Steam at the time. Long story short I've played through it 4 times over, and I now understand. You're welcome for all them Rift Crystals I grinded out for your pawn. In terms of what was shown for Dragon's Dogma 2, I am kind of only interested in the Beastren area of the map, since that's the only new thing besides automatically already enjoying what little combat we've seen. I understand that most of the story aspects just mirror the first including the setting, but I just hope there's more to it than just retreading over already explored plot events in the same exact places. Also from what I've seen so far, the Pawns look like they've got actual good AI at least comparatively to the first outing, so much so that I was sort of impressed. I experienced such AI in the various final Monster Hunter RISE updates, where the AI is almost on par if not better than the human players I played with.
Reducing number of skills can be better with tighter game design. Look at how Bloodborne reduced the weapon choice but each of the weapons had a distinct feel and playstyle, as opposed to, “Oh wow another straight sword”.
As someone intrigued by DD2, but haven’t played the others, this kind of video is useful. Nothing wrong with a “why you might be interested in X” type of video. Especially if it’s something that a lot don’t have experience with or know what makes it unique.
Dragon's Dogma is definitely that game that I continuously tried to get into, but just couldn't. I did make it past the Hydra head escort mission, several times, but never much farther then that. I would always end up restarting and making progressively more outlandish Arisen and Master Pawn designs. Hoping this game will change that (body type is already making me roll my eyes though), and will look forward to that exponentially long video of Dragon's Dogma 1.
I feel like that is definitely the weakest part of the game, right after you get to gran soren you get quests that mostly feel like side quests to "build your reputation" but right after that the game gets really strong again when you hunt the griffin.
It also wants you to consider travel a lot. A lot of players don't like doing that and I get it. DD is kind of a "the journey is the destination" kind of game though. Best I can really say for advice is look up the best places to put down your port crystals to cut down on travel time. You'll have to bite the bullet and walk there at least once but it really helps when you get travel network down.
While i loved the first game (have all achievements on steam), the only thing that ticked me off was the pawn system. When you first played the demo, your party members seemed like they were part of the story, each with their own personality and backgrounds and that you could potentially recruit many more by meeting them like in Dragon Age or Mass Effect. Turns out you just use this random ass portal to summon disposable party members or "pawns" to your party... I remember losing engagement and immersion when I got that part lol. They also further doubled down and tied these stupid pawns into the lore too which was just completely unnecessary and a convoluted mess as they were essentially bad design and an excuse not to work on real characters with depth imo and it seems like it´ll be the same for DD2, unfortunately.
Umm...no. The pawn system was awesome. It wasn't an "excuse" not to work on real characters, it was a fun and unique system of building your own. It had some jank that I hope is fixed here, but I loved constantly finding new parties, trying to balance it out. And you complain about losing immersion but also complain that they bothered giving a lore explanation, aka, made it more immersive? I mean, if you don't like it, fine, but it was never supposed to be a game with a developed party like Bioware games, and this was obvious because that would be impossible if every single person can make their own pawn.
@@billjacobs521 Like I said, when you first played the demo you had a full party and didn't create your starting pawn so it wasn't obvious at all. You'd be hard pressed not to assume your party was made up of people you encounter in the world that are part of the narrative like in most games. The fact that in the full game you had to create another character after your main is kind of ridiculous and confusing for a new player because at this point you know nothing about pawns and this would've been easily solved had your first party member be a random tutorial NPC to show you around and then you could recruit more in villages taverns, castles, outposts, dungeons, whatever as the game progressed. Problem is, to be able to include dozens of story driven characters with personality, unique traits, voice acting and whatnot in a sprawling world it would've required extremely hard work and resources so they cleverly sidestepped the issue and created the pawn system. Now was just a matter of shoehorning this concept into the plot and make it make sense... which it didn't. And just because they addressed in the lore, doesn't mean now I'm somewhat invested and immersed like you said, specially when the explanation is a convoluted, poorly explained abstract and unclear mess that tries to mask it's own bs by being deliberately confusing whilst appearing to be super deep like a modern art painting lol... Look, if you think this shit's awesome more power to you but to say this wasn't done intentionally to avoid wasting time and resources into developing real characters is to be disingenuous at best. You could've had the same or even more fun finding new unique party members out in the world, each with their own lore and leveling their skills and jobs up imo. But again, I really did enjoy the game so much so that I platinumed it so this wasn't even a deal breaker, I'm just an objective, no nonsense guy and have to call bs when I see it.
As somebody who has maxed a character on every system that Dragons Dogma released on (PS3, PS4. Windows, XBOX One S) I was in love with this game. The most realistic feeling combat. No other game gave me more adrenaline than when you are fighting a Wyvern or Chimera and the damn think took ot the air, your character jamming his dagger in the things skull trying to bring it down. LOVED THIS GAME. So I was so pumped for this. However now I have heard about Capcom's BS treatment of modders, who have absurd amounts of talent, and make content better than the actual developers. I will never stand my the BS policy they put in place. I will not purchase a game I have literally had dreams about, because I am that passionate about this issue. People taking their own free time making free content to keep an old game relevant should be cherished.
My biggest issue is the reduction of gear slots from 7 to only 4. They combined both upper body armors and gloves all into one piece, and lower body into one piece. This is to make an excuse for lack of undergarment style armors for the sake of "more armor sets" in total. I personally would much rather have the customization and unique combinations over preset armors. The rating has been tamed with no partial nudity, and with the diversity and lack of gender, I won't be surprised if we get some seriously mediocre female style. The under garments look so out of place and low effort as well as super conservative. All this because capcom is giving in to ESG standards. Too bad but the game looks mostly great so I can't wait! If all I can complain about is no lewd and gear customization, that's not the worst deal in the world.
I got Dragon's Dogma from the PSN a couple weeks ago. I haven't played it yet, and I was hesitant because I wasn't sure if I would like it. I will definitely be checking it out now. Thanks!👍
At this point I'll be happy just to have a female character that looks feminine and not like a roided up drag queen. As much as I want to say I'm optimistic that this game will be good, sadly I'm not. The games industry is a shell of its former self and has been declining in both quality and quantity for years. I'll wait until the game is out, and for your review Synth, before deciding whether or not to buy it.
DD2 is the only game that I'm looking forward to. I don't if it's because i got older (30 years old) but the vast majority of video games these days do not interest me even in the slightest.
I really wish they could/would add in a co-op mode to play with a group of 4, or 2 with your respective pawns; would love to play this with my buds, even if it was for a DLC area like Dark Arisen did. As for the Open World Sandbox; I don't mind it being expanded, but they definitely need to do something about the transversal if it's going to be bigger, maybe give us a mount or better fast traveling instead of Port Crystals. Other than that, the game is looking good, just a shame they possibly got rid of the Mystic Knight, that was my favorite for sure.
Its looks very diverse but also it seems that if you pick the furry then people may be racist to you....Based? I'm keeping my expectations low, but gameplay should be great regardless.
I bought Dragon's Dogma on a whim during a Steam sale back in 2017, and quickly fell in love. Got completely obsessed with customizing and optimizing my main character and pawn, and I loved it when said pawn got hired by another player. I hope your game review career continues to grow. I do like the negative aspect and a little complaining from time to time so it’s nice to hear your rants on things I totally agree with as well as the things you like
I'm not really worried. Capcom let Itsuno cook with DMC5 and that game didn't do anything too special or revolutionary, it just took the base of DMC4, completed and polished the experience, and it turned out as the apex of stylish action games. Dragon's Dogma 2 could just be DD1 but a bit bigger and polished and that alone will make it a classic but I'm certain it's going to be more than that.
FF7 Rebirth will be awesome! 100% 90+ game. Tekken will be great, but of course, it is a beat´em up. Metaphor: ReFantazio, Like a Dragon infinite wealth, Rise of the Ronin and Granblue Fantasy: Relink will be great, not even AAA. And 1% chance for Star Wars Outlaws
I'm worried about the clothing/armor layers. It seems they've highly simplified it, and not just for the demo like we originally thought. It was a huge part of the appeal for me creating characters, so it would be a sorely missed feature.
@A_Stranger2256 probably. Don't get your hopes up for anything ever. If it remains it'll likely be a very watered down version. The days of expansive customization are long gone, and not just from Capcom but in general.

It's worth going back and finishing it if you play the "Dark Arisen" version of the game. So in reality essentially those who are interested in a product or in this example a video game , should kill (or lower)their interest in a game that they were interested in😂😂

Its not the same place tho
I made the mistake of starting as a Mage, it took ages to level up. After this we need Lost Planet 4.
Reducing number of skills can be better with tighter game design. Look at how Bloodborne reduced the weapon choice but each of the weapons had a distinct feel and playstyle, as opposed to, “Oh wow another straight sword”.

Dragons dogma is a great game, and it goes on sale like every other week. I'd recommend picking it up.
Please, please be good. The original is one of my favourite games ever made.
It does take a bit too much time to get rolling.

It doesn’t feel like it to me since I’ve played World for a long time and didn’t prefer it, but I will say Fighter’s basic attacks feels kinda wonky.
Is it gonna have the same body type A and B bullshit
Most likely. It's fakkity social engineered garbage. So you know --they-- gonna put it in there!
If it doesn't let you make a loli pawn with silk lingerie, I'm not playing it. Yes, I'm willing to die on this hill.

Get ready to shave your head bro, it will have similar sliders to street fighter 6, and that one didn't have a breasts or butt slider.

What flaws exactly? I mean, yes, it has flaws, I'm not being sarcastic, but I'm wondering what put you off? It does take too long to get rolling, admittedly.
@@billjacobs521 The quests, the story, the world itself, and the pawns.
I found most of the quests to be boring, the story to be unengaging, the pawns to be annoying, but what really killed it for me was the world. It just sucks to explore and running from A to B felt like a constant slog.
I hope your game review career continues to grow. I do like the negative aspect and a little complaining from time to time so it’s nice to hear your rants on things I totally agree with as well as the things you like
Never make something your last hope. You'll almost always end up being disappointed.
18:00 ogres have always been tanky to stagger damage. Even from warriors.
Hopefully the being more than that isn't just being overly woke.
I really hope they add in the Dragons Dogma online vocations like Alchemist and High Scepter, both look really dope.
B,b,but Todd Howard says Bethesda is gonna make Starfield super amazing in 2024. This year is gonna be swell.
I'm disappointed indeed. Made myself a rule of not buying anything with Denuvo and I'm not intended to brake it.
Unlucky eh
You will look Chad with a shaved head bro, dont worry.
They've gone the route of 3d capturing actual clothing since dmc5 because it's easier.
@@stinkfinga4918 Does that mean they have to remove the layer system, though?
@A_Stranger2256 probably. Don't get your hopes up for anything ever. If it remains it'll likely be a very watered down version. The days of expansive customization are long gone, and not just from Capcom but in general.
@@stinkfinga4918 I don't have much hope for any modern release. It really sucks that even Dragon's Dogma 2 probably will not live up to the potential it has.
no everyone in game has gone Commando - no undie
im sure there will be teleportation. but you forgot that they revealed a carruage fast travel in one of the earlier reveals
