    ABOUT THIS FILM
    ____________________
    Kingfisher chicks
After 24 days of incubation, all seven kingfisher chicks hatched out over a 24-hour period spanning two days, April 29-30th.
    Dad anxious to please
And as soon as the first chick emerges from its shell, its kingfisher dad is keen to provide. Watch as he brings in a tiny-sized fish - just right for such a small new beak - within hours of its hatching. However these minute creatures are not yet ready to swallow their first meals.
    Male kingfisher indecisive
This male kingfishers also helps to brood the newly hatched chicks - but he can't quite decide if he ought to stay put and brood or go out and fetch more food andthen, when all of a sudden the urge to get more food overcomes him, he knocks a chick right over in his rush!
    Male vs females
Kingfishers are solitary birds and normally only come together to raise chicks. Watch the female recoil when the male turns up with yet more food for their chicks!
    Chicks develop
Kingfisher chicks hatch out blind and featherless. Subscribe to this playlist to be notified of my next film from this nest, in which they grow their first feathers.

Great captured footage as usual. What a robust brood size both mom and dad look vibrant and beautiful. Dad’s gentle feeding seemingly with mom’s encouraging support.
The time and effort that you put into making and maintaining natural nesting sites and to the all over health of the wildlife you host is commendable. You are a fantastic naturalist, wildlife artist and filmographer, as well as great advocate for wildlife conservation. Sharing the beauty and inspiring others to wonder and see the beauty of the natural world around them.

@@RobertEFuller I have a pair of blue tits nesting in the box I made at the end of the garden. I thought they were rearing because I saw them with bedding and the male feeds her on a branch, but they seem to have varnished and I hardly see them around anymore. I'm wondering if they are still interested or if they have been scared away by something but its not cats. It could be that the bird feeder is a bit too close for comfort but that's just speculating^

To think dat d human baby can only drink milk/liquid for months after birth and slowly graduate to eating soft food for quite a long time... Yet these chicks eat solid insects, fish, lizards etc on day one!! Not even regurgitated food half digested by d parents. Guess dat's y humans generally live much longer than birds! 🤗
