You just saved me my deposit!! We scratched the HELL out of the new vinyl flooring in the apartment i've now been in for the past two years, and tried to fill the gouge in with special crayon type things, and was just about to replace the planks themselves, which is what I was searching for when I found your video. I didn't even wait for the video to finish, before I was digging under the sink for the WD-40 and an old scouring sponge. That's all I used, and I honestly can't even tell where the scratch was anymore, and it was gouged across a good 10 planks. THANK YOU!!
I just put a major scratch in my kitchen floor while bringing the Christmas tree in. Found your video and tried it. While the scratch is still visible, it looks 90% better. I am so thankful for your solution.
I cannot thank you enough... I had a brand new luxury vinyl floor put in my kitchen and we had scratches in the floor from moving furniture... I was freaking out and about to spend a bunch for some bs stuff that probably wouldn't work. I tried murphys oil soap and it took the scratches right out. I'm very grateful to you!!!
Yes I had the same experience with my brand new luxury vinyl floor for a kitchen remodel. The contractor also use graffiti removal spray (go figure) and I was amazed.
@@osovillarreal6128 the scratches doesn’t go away. They are just cleaning the area but once the oil dries up or goes away then you’ll see those scratches again.
The reason you can see a scratch, is because when the scratch happens, it actually tares the surface and raises the fibers and the scratch shows as white because of the way light reflects on the surface of the frayed material that makes up the flooring. The video does work, but is only a temp fix and with light color flooring it will show again. Once the oil has dried it will also show again. Keep in mind, friction burns left from furniture being dragged are most common. The friction burn shows because the surface of the furniture leg and the flooring have rubbed against each other causing the surface finish polish to become dull, therefore showing up as a scuff. Do not confuse this scuff to the ones left behind from shoes as they are easily wiped away with a damp sponge and good firm pressure, or by using an eraser with light pressure to remove them. No matter what process you use, it is important to clean the scratch thoroughly with warm soapy water. Let that dry for a few hours as it will take time. Another thing to remember is that I have been doing this for years, so your end result will not be the same as mine the first time. With time and practice you will become better at it. 1) Use a sponge similar to the one used in the video and do a lightly damp scrub with firm pressure in the direction of the scratch and then a more aggressive scrub with the grain of the flooring to ensure you have scrubbed in all directions, but NEVER circular. 2) Use a cordless drill ( I say to use a cordless drill because the rpm for a drill are lower than a buffer and will be easier to control. There will be less of a chance of actually melting your flooring) with a buffing pad to heat the scratch causing it to flatten back down, going with the grain of the flooring, not the direction of the scratch.
If you're going to scrub with a rough pad like that make sure you do so with the grain. Oil based can make the floor slippery and some products like wd40 are rust dissolvers so imagine what it can do to your floor.
Great video! Is there anything fro print too? I've a lot of prints (mostly hands from installation) that are not coming off with a normal cleaning products or the maintainer one 😭. Thanks
Rule number one with any surface you want to clean..NEVER spray any solvent, cleaners, or chemicals directly onto the surface your trying to clean. spray the sponge, cloth or rag you are using to clean it with , then gently rub the area with the grain of the surface. Another thing to know , is that most vinyl floors are made with a flat finish . spraying WD-40 or any oil based chemicals on these floors will be visible due to the oily residue on a flat finish surface. Its a good temporary fix, but not a long time solution .in time , that oil will wear off and reveal the scratch again . the scratch will always be there , so the best bet is to pull the board out and change it. And yes..it can be done . unlike hardwood or laminate floors, vinyl is inert, and does not expand and contract . so replacing a board in the middle is possible if done by a professional.
That floor looks like wood though? Will this work on laminate flooring? And it will make the floor very slippery. Those floors are gorgeous by the way :)
I try to not focus on my flooring that I think someone used too much of a coating when they mopped it each time. . I found some Libman stuff still in the cupboard when I moved in. I am trying to not look in the light where the scratches are till I can get the vinyl replaced.
Uh, yeah, but then doesn't that leave an "oil-based" stain on the floor??????? (or rather, can that oil residue be cleaned---like with soap and water--and will THAT be gone too?
Paste wax shoe polish. I was looking around for furniture polish like in the video and came across a new jar of Kiwi paste wax shoe polish - brown. Rubbed it in then polished with a soft cloth, and voila! scratches gone! We'll see how long it lasts..
Yeah you can't fix a scratch where material meaning the vinyl has been damaged with an oil, or a LUBRICANT I That's a repair that works till it dries thennnn, right back to the way it was. think you would have to spend some time with a scrap piece trying add some color to an epoxy an when you get the color right carefully painting the scratch with the tinted epoxy with a model brush or something. Or remove the backing and melt down the vinyl and very quickly apply just a very small amount to only fill the scratch till its flush. Quickest way is have a paint store mix up and match the color from a sample piece of flooring and paint only the scratch itself. As long as your eyes aren't drawn to it . But I wouldn't spray WD 40 on my floor. The smell alone is enough to kill your pets. You know your dog is gonna sample a taste or 2. DELICIOUS!
No it's not the seam . Look at the pattern marks they go right thru. I do it for a living. The seams all have pattern changes. It's also not straight or SQUARE.
Using a rubber does a much better job - you can rub off the thin layers either side of a scratch which really reduces the impact of the scratch itself. It's hard work though, takes some time!
Actually not fully a trick... I haven't had a real scratch per say, but everyone wears rubber soled shoes of some type in my house and it was leaving rubber scuffs everywhere and the dw40 did remove the scuff marks with sort of aggressive finger rubbing.. so not completely a trick.. I have Brazilian Cherry laminate floors, brand new. The Oil-based product seemed to work perfectly, for now anyway
It disappears because it's wet also I cringe just to watch you put that pledge on freaking wood floor don't ever do it have you ever walked on the floor that has overspray from doing a table in your socks you're just asking to break somebody's neck don't put that on your floor
BS video.. when the stinky oily products decides to dry.. indentions of the scratches are still noticeable in certain lighting.. better off with a crayon.. seriously.. need to fill in the scratches.. go to home Depot .. they got them there..

Has the scratches still disappeared or have they came back

You sir are a life saver!!!! So helpful!!!!!
Wow.. I was about to return an item I bought on Amazon that I really like and need .. and this guidance helped with the scratch’s.. thanks a bunch
This worked great! Thank you.
It was... Very helpful, nice and easy!!! Thanks 😊
Love your videos and thank you for sharing 👍😃
Thank you so much that works like a charm

Thank you so much.
If you have any planks left over, see video on replacing LVP flooring. Very straight forward when following the directions.
It worked thanks!!!!
Thank you for the video,
And the scratch will show again in how many minutes?
Thanks 😊

What about old Formica countertops?
how long will this last
I would thing the fist time you was your floor the scratch would come back
Did this to the whole floor at my last apartment... hahaha I actually got my deposit back too.
😂
That floor looks like wood though? Will this work on laminate flooring? And it will make the floor very slippery. Those floors are gorgeous by the way :)
will this work for scratches that have been there for 3-4 months :(
Not a long term fix but if you do this weekly with your cleaning. It will help until new floors
I try to not focus on my flooring that I think someone used too much of a coating when they mopped it each time. . I found some Libman stuff still in the cupboard when I moved in. I am trying to not look in the light where the scratches are till I can get the vinyl replaced.

I wonder what happens after the oil is dry hummm!!
This actually work!! its doesn't removed the scratch it color blend in perfect you can't see the scratch.
Does this work on hardwood?
Would this work on vinyl sheet flooring?
Will this work on laminate floors as well?
Does that work on gray vinyl plank also?
Used the WD on a light scratch on laminate and wiped it with paper towel hid the scratch - imagine temporary fix but hey ho
As soon as you clean that oil those scratches will be there.
I can see them emerging at the end of the video. Look at the gouge at the 1:51 point. I'm looking elsewhere.
We're all just here to get our security deposits back, so that's OK
@@erinmark1 Exactly the point
@@erinmark1 yup 🤣🤣😂
@@erinmark1 sis I am screaming lol 😂
The most duct-tape solution ever. Scratches will be visible tomorrow
will this work a laminate floor ..or Pergo Floor ?
I have multiple superficial scratches in one area if my floor. Will this work?
Definitely! Ty!
Paste wax shoe polish. I was looking around for furniture polish like in the video and came across a new jar of Kiwi paste wax shoe polish - brown.
Rubbed it in then polished with a soft cloth, and voila! scratches gone! We'll see how long it lasts..
How does it look now? Still noticeable?
Thank uuuuuuu
This didn’t work for me. I still see the scratch plain as day.
I feel like Hank Hill would use WD 40
It works 😄😄😄
I see a shaggy and scooby do scene getting ready to happen.
That only works for a little while until oil decipates...
Just saw this and tried it and it does not work. Did nothing to the scratch in my floor whatsoever.
Will this work for a grey vinyl floor?
Did it work for yours? My dog has scratched my floors so many times!!
Just tried this and it really worked! Thx so much!! Lol!
min.1.53 left side..you se the scraches on the floor after the Pledge oil !!!!
That is the plank seam, not the scratch.

Does this work on vynl sheets
What protection do you use on the legs of your chairs?
Teflon
Even water will make it seem to go away in seconds, until it dries. Does this really work once the area is dry?
Does NOT work when its dry
No it doesn't work you can still see the scratch at the end of the video. Ridiculous!
Using a rubber does a much better job - you can rub off the thin layers either side of a scratch which really reduces the impact of the scratch itself. It's hard work though, takes some time!
This did not work. Once it dries the scratch will appear again
Won't this leave the floor very slippery?
Only for a couple hours just be careful until it dries
i can just imagine how slippy that is now...
But after u apply the oil it’s going to be slippery
When it dry it comes back
you can still see the scratch against light. 1:52
For the WD-40, if I wiped it with a washcloth, or a rag, would that work as well?
Sierra Slytherin Yes but using the scowl pad will help blend the scratch into your tile a lot better :)
and then, it magically reappears after you clean oil off your floor
WD 40 is an amazing product. To be 100% sure though you need to show us what the floor looked like when dry. Unless someone else can?
It doesn't work. He's full of shit
Remove the scratch...broke my spleen walking across the floor..😅
Nice permanently slipppery floors
You can still see the scratch
will it come back after you wash the floor?
The scratches are still there. Nothing was repaired. It’s like a woman putting makeup on.
How did that remove the he scratch ?
Yeah right show it once it drys
seems though the scratch just needed some water on it
I tried this and it did not work
Doesn’t work on grey tiles, just emphasises the scratches even more.
Yeah till it drys and comes back
This doesn't work it's an old trick while its waxed basically it looks to be gone once the shine dry u can see the scratches
Yeah that's what I thought. Not exactly helping the situation at all.
use a gum
😮❤!
Looks good until it dries
That's what I wondered. That pad made me cringe.
Like nails on chalk board
didn't work
This does not work.
only hides, not removes... after mopping scratch will reappear, bummer
Lotion name please
Sorry.. didn't work for me
Just a hat trick. Not a long term fix

clickbait. it wont remove the scratch.
gimmick, just like putting oil on faded cars... not a fix.
we need more leemon pledge.
You're supposed to bring that from home.
Noo.
Scam, when it dries it goes back to scratched.
Haha. Mentirosos
It disappears because it's wet also I cringe just to watch you put that pledge on freaking wood floor don't ever do it have you ever walked on the floor that has overspray from doing a table in your socks you're just asking to break somebody's neck don't put that on your floor
