Hong Kong is also a city in China that attracted a lot of tourists in the past, but there have been too many violent protests in Hong Kong recently. Tourists are not recommended to stay in Hong Kong. China is a family country. You see it every day in every city at all times of the day - morning, afternoon, evening. Parents, children, grandparents all out enjoying themselves. It's the MAIN reason why China is such a safe country... Unlike many western countires where the individual is emphasised and taken to extremes by some it becomes selfishness. And they do what they want without regard to others around them.
In January 2008 while living in Beijing, I took the then “express” train from Beijing to Xian. It was the fastest train to Xian, and amazingly it was 12 hours non-stop. We left at 7 pm and arrived at 7 am with ZERO stops. That may have been a record at the time for travel without stopping. The average speed was probably 50 km per hour, slow but steady. It had a fancy dining and bar car and great sleepers. My best experiences on trains were on the regular slow trains where you can connect with regular Chinese at a human speed. I mean slow. Learning “slow living” is a nice change from the high speed world.
Yes we had a great time too on the slower trains (we have a video where we take the slow train from Shanghai to Guilin). It took us 20hours. But it was a great experience.

Thanks a lot! We will also take the slow train (for 20 hours haha). We'll also share our experience with that one! Glad you liked it. What do you think about the high speed train?
@@NaickKim Let's just say I'm a fan of high speed trains and not of slow ones haha. Overall, I think it's very impressive that China has managed to construct such an extensive system in such a short time. I'm looking forward to trying it one day. I've travelled extensively on the Shinkansen in Japan, but never in China cause I haven't had the opportunity to do a grand China road trip... will do it soon!
Yes the slow train in China is... VERY different from the high speed one haha. The high speed one is super modern, super clean, very comfortable. The slow train is not any of that. Nothing beats the experience of the first class bullet train here. The high speed train in Japan must be really amazing too! Japan is pretty much number one in countries we want to visit. But it's quite expensive so we can't fit it into our budget right now.
@@NaickKim I can imagine there would be a huge difference between the fast and slow trains. It is aligned with the huge income gap in China, which is slowly closing (apparently, the rate is fast if you take into account the entire span of history that we’ve experienced in the past 2 centuries), but yes. The Shinkansen in Japan is a dream. If you love trains, you will LOVE the Shinkansen. Please let me know if you ever plan on traveling to Japan. I am very familiar with the country as I have traveled there many times (and also I teach a class at Kyoto University of Art and Design, but it’s a small class of 4 artists and I go once every 2 years haha) so I will be able to give you lots and lots of tips about what to see. It is quite expensive, but if you get the Japan Rail Pass- you can have unlimited train rides for either 7, 14 or 21 days, and you can LITERALLY zoom up and down Japan as if you own the railways!
The Chinese bullet trains are incredible! Such a great system built really quickly! We were so pleasantly surprised by it. They also have spicy Oreo flavours!
@@NaickKim Yes, in China! And there are more unusual flavours too. We found them mostly in supermarkets and small group ery stores with snacks. Yes we are - it's actually fairly easy in 90% of places we've been to. In China, for example, any restaurant in a Buddhist Temple will be vegan (it's a thing in strict Chinese Buddhism) and people understand it in that context! We do pretty well mostly! 😀
Best wishes from a Chinese.Right now in Belgium, also like the Belgian railway, especial the weekend half price ticket, it's so worthy and convenient, and anywhere from Brussels is within two hours, love your country.
Wie geht's in Deutschland? Wo wohnen sie in Deutschland? Sorry our German is quite bad haha. I can understand you would miss Xi'an, especially the great food there!
The maglev train in Shanghai is from Longyang Station (Line 2) to Pudong airport. If you are leaving from Shanghai, actually you can have a trip on that. Acutally the price is incredibly cheap and it will take you only several minutes to the airport. Hope you have a nice experience in China.
@@NaickKim When it comes to the speed issue, I haven't done enough research about that yet, lol. But I think that's the fastest train for commercial use around the world.
It is not allowed to drive that recreational electric vehicle all the way to the railway station. There was no queue there to buy train tickets since most Chinese travellers buy tickets online. The best site to visit is actually the first emperor’s gigantic, pyramid-like tomb not just his Terracotta Warriors if you have the capacity to appreciate really big ancient stuff.
Great video and super great bullet train. I like china very much. I visited china twice in 7 years. Seeing your video make me booking my ticket and fly back to china. Thanks

You two are so cute. Good to see these videos you tooke in China. We live quite near the Pingyao City. We stayed in Belgium for a year in Leuven and we had as as interesting European experience as you had in China.
It is very easy. We heard from some people it can be difficult sometimes, but we find it to be super easy. Everything is so well organized! Where are you from?
That's a CRH2 train, which is a copy of the Kawasaki E2 Shinkansen series train. It entered service in 2007 on the Shanghai-Nanjing route, so it is already a pretty old train in China. Should have tried the the newer CRH380A (capable of 380kph) and the Fuxin CR400 AF (which runs at a speed of 350 kph between Beijing and Shanghai).
I found many persons in Western countries (USA, Europe) have never been in China, and some of them are often hostile or negative to China under the leadership of CCP, but once they traveled to and visited China, stayed there for a few days or weeks or months, their attitude changed and they like or love China, the real China was completely different from the one they had heard of. Wish you couple happy journey in China!
When China is in the news, it is usually not in a positive way, when the Chinese government has done something western media doesn't agree with. Even if someone disagrees with some of the Chinese political decisions, the people of China and its politicians are 2 very different topics. The people in China have been nothing but kind to us. In terms of politics, there are some things we like, some things we don't, just like with our own government. But we don't know a lot about the Chinese government, so I won't comment on that.

You are very welcome Betty!
China high speed railway is cool!
I never have chance to visit China,
but it's seems oddly familiar to me (Taiwanse).
it's happy to exploring China through your video.
thank you for your subtitle. LOVE :))
你为什么来不了中国大陆?
Subscribed!!!! Hello from Yunnan, Dali!!!! We love the fast trains!!!!!! Because we booked late we bought first class tickets ... sooooooooo nice!!!
I'm glad that you really enjoy your trip in China and take a relaxing and happy browse!
Thanks a lot!
I absolutely love this video of your tour of the high speed train! Thanks for this!
Thanks a lot! We'll take you up on that offer haha! Japanese art and design class, sounds really interesting!
You guys rock! Amazing video! Thank you for showing what it's like in China.
Thank YOU for watching :)
Welcome to China and my hometown Xi’an. Wish you have a good trip in China. Please show the real China to the world. Thank you very much.
We loved the food in Xi'an! Some of the best street food in the world 🤯
Amazing China! Thanks for your video and comments. that helps a lot!
Thanks!
My favourite Country China, my country China, I love you China so much.
The Chinese bullet trains are incredible! Such a great system built really quickly! We were so pleasantly surprised by it. They also have spicy Oreo flavours!
same for us! Spicy Oreo flavours, really? You mean like chili or something? We haven't come across any spicy Oreos here yet...
@@NaickKim Pretty sure they were chilly. We didn't try them as these ones didn't happen to be vegan, but we were facinated it!
Now we have to go on the hunt for these Oreos! Was this in China too?
You guys are vegan? How is that like when you are travelling?
The two of you are so cute, when you eat coffee biscuits there.
Thank you!
That’s a great experience, love you guys!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you guys for bringing me back my hometown with your vlog. I miss Xi’an so much. And best wishes from Deutschland, have a wonderful journey.👍🏼
Yes it is one of the fastest trains in the world, no?
@@NaickKim When it comes to the speed issue, I haven't done enough research about that yet, lol. But I think that's the fastest train for commercial use around the world.
It is not allowed to drive that recreational electric vehicle all the way to the railway station. There was no queue there to buy train tickets since most Chinese travellers buy tickets online. The best site to visit is actually the first emperor’s gigantic, pyramid-like tomb not just his Terracotta Warriors if you have the capacity to appreciate really big ancient stuff.
Yeah we would love to visit that place next time. Not sure if that was open when we visited
Thank you for your nice and informative video on this fast train journey. Love it.
you are very welcome, glad you liked it :)
Great video and super great bullet train. I like china very much. I visited china twice in 7 years. Seeing your video make me booking my ticket and fly back to china. Thanks
Awesome, have fun on your next trip 😉
Wow last time I went to Pingyao in 2017, there's no high-speed railway. It develops so quickly!
Yes they are building it at a high speed 😀
welcome to China XD.This type(CRH-2) you took can only reach 250km/h and the CRH380 and CR series can reach 300 and even 350km/h
Yes indeed! We took the faster one afterwards 😊
I discovered your channel when youtube recommended me this video from your channel. I immediately subscribed, I want to see more of China.
Thanks a lot! China is a beautiful country.
@@NaickKim Thank you both. Welcome to China, and enjoy your stay.
So funny. Very local style travel. You guys go to many places I haven’t been to , jealous.
Glad you enjoyed it. What are your favourite places?
Naick & Kim go to Anhui province some old villages in February. Jiang Nan area ( around Shanghai ) in March. July go to north Meng Gu province to ride horse. August go to north East or north west. Gan Su or Xin Jiang. Actually, many place I have not been to. There are many tourists sites each city. Can’t tell you all details. Just list best season and provinces, or directions.
You two are so cute. Good to see these videos you tooke in China. We live quite near the Pingyao City. We stayed in Belgium for a year in Leuven and we had as as interesting European experience as you had in China.
Pingyao is a nice place. There is an ancient castle or something. They dressed up ancient clothes and performed right in front of you.
Oh really, don't think we saw that one in Pingyao.
Wow, great video. You guys make traveling in China is so easy!
It is very easy. We heard from some people it can be difficult sometimes, but we find it to be super easy. Everything is so well organized! Where are you from?
the real china is quite different from the western propaganda.
That was really a super smooth Silk-Road ride! Thanks for sharing! :-)
I see what you did there haha. Thank you!
Wow never tried that. You can go to Chengdu from Xi'an around 3.5 hours by this train to Chengdu. Enjoy your trip!
The bullet train is amazing! We love it :)
Wow what a great experience!
It's very different from the train in Belgium hahaha
Best train ever. Can't wait 'till our next Chinese bullet train! And those Oreos... What a day! :)
Please send more Oreo's!
Hi I'm a vlogger and an Oreo addict!
That Oreos is tiramisu flavour :)
@Kim Dirix Ya, where the Chinese will steal tech from next I wonder now that the world has figured them out
Hi guys, I enjoyed this video also. You guys did a good job. How about going to the hanging monastery I would love to see a video of that.
The hanging monastery? Where is that?
Tqvm again Naick & Kim. Enjoyed watching yr video 😍
you are very welcome - thank you for watching!!!
China .. an intricate weave of AncientWorld and FutureWorld.
We all are people love love china 😍 😍😍👍👍👍👍👍 love you guy
thanks so much :)
Thanks for the tips!
It is mainly an ideological confrontation, and as China becomes more and more rich, the confrontation will be more intense.
We love your adventures so much. I need time to discover the. . I met you yesterday for the first time. God segenje ús ús lieve freonen Nick en Kim. Ik hâld fan jo aventoeren yn Sina en oars. yn Kataloanië hawwe wy ton boeken publisearre yn Katalaansk. hoe oer yn Flaanderen.? wy binne ferdielde naasjes, gelyk oan België. God segenje dy. Bliuw feilich, myn leave freonen.
Hi David, that is awesome! You're doing good with the Flemish too, we see :) thanks so much for your kind words!!
lol u can see CRH2 in the body, which is an old generation run for nearly 10years. u guys do need to catch the business class in CR400 which can take u to 350km/h or even 400km/h.
next time ;)
If you visit Catalonia, go to Montserrat Sanctuary. It is very beautiful. In Montserrat situated at 900 meters with summit of 1250 meters I met 3 Flanderen people speaking Flanderen I was so shocked and I asked "-where are you from guys?". And they answered from Belgium.
We will definitely look into that, thanks David!
The train is CRH2A, very old model, next time you should try CR400 which is in Glod or Red
Thank you guys for sharing such wonderful video with the world. It's great to bring more positive fact of China.
agreed!! you are welcome :)
Damn that train was passing too fast 😮 haha. I gotta book my flight to Beijing soon...
One nice thing about first class. You'll be there just as quick as the rest of the people on the train .
Been on the bullet trains five times.
Great video.
Thanks Jeffrey 😃
Hope you enjoy a traditional-modern crossed China!
Thanks a lot. We really loved it!
Thanks for your vlog, which shows a different view or culture of China's second or third class cities, compared to Beijing or Shanghai. BTW, it is really a pity for you because the Pingyao international festival is coming these days. Well done, I like both of you. Enjoy your journey in China.
Thanks a lot Jayden. Glad you enjoyed it.
welcome China, you are a happy and cute couple.

Thank you! We had a GREAT time in China 😊👌🏻
looks much better than that train I rode in 1984 from Shanghai to Hongguo. would love to join you on that ride.
Welcome to China. There are many interesting places and delicious food in China. Have a nice trip!
High-speed rail is very convenient in China. We don't need to pick up tickets. We can enter directly with our ID card.
Thanks Lemon! Yes China has incredible trains. We loved the bullet trains! And we loved the places we visited in China too :)
you can try the jinghu highspeed train ,is best fast,about 350km/h,highspeed train has 2level in china, first leve is "G",is 300-350km/h,second level is“D"{250km/h}
thank you!
I think the train you were on is the 1st generation (和谐号). Check out the later version (复兴号) and experience would be better.
Thanks a lot for the tip! Which trains do you prefer?
@@NaickKim Latest version (复兴号) 🤗. Not sure if you can take D train to Tibet. If you can, you can go from 北京、上海、广州、成都、重庆、成都、兰州、西宁 to Lhasa. That's the route I recommend. Love your videos and hope you enjoy in China.
@@NaickKim fuxing, the newest bullet train ( rejuvernization) with the red stripe on the body instead of the blue stripe as u see on hexie ( harmony), fuxing top speed 350km / h, with free wireless network covered, a little bigger and more comfortable, hexie top speed around 300km per h, no wireless network coverage
视频做的不错!推荐你们坐一下商务座,体验会更好
是的,我們肯定會在將來的某個時候參加商務艙培訓
Thanks, You let more people know about China.

The 220V and USB power points on every seat are very good design. you can also order MacDonald or KFC or any food on board which can be provided next stop.
Hows do you do that?
@@NaickKim There is a APP,. With it, you can find what food there are the coming station can provide. The restaurants may not locate in the station , just around. After you order and pay, the restaurant will provide your order to staff in railway station. When your train stop, the food will be transferred to the train crew and then put on your hand the warm food
Do they have food sold on the bullet train?
Yes they were selling some food and snacks. Not sure what exactly though. You can also order food through an app that is delivered to a train station.

There are many types of high-speed railway trains in China,According to the maximum speed of trains, high-speed trains are divided into G, D and C types,The corresponding speed is 350km\h, 250km\h, 200km\h,Therefore, to experience the speed of 350km\h, you need to choose the high-speed train starting with G. and,G stands for gao, D for dong and C for cheng, which are Chinese character pronunciation.
