      For a combination of culture, nature, and history, the surrounding cities around Shanghai, such as Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Wuzhen are all nice places to explore. For wild nature, west of Sichuan such as Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Bipenggou are beautiful places. In Qinghai province in summer, hundreds of miles of rape seeds flowers bloom. You could take HSR across the flower fields to attractions in west China. Grasslands in West China are beautiful in June with wild flowers. Syram Lake and Kanas Lake in Xinjiang are very beautiful places. Sanya in Hainan province is tropical getaway. Xiamen and Qingdao and Weihai are nice coastal cities with some colonial heritages.

    In January 2008 while living in Beijing, I took the then “express” train from Beijing to Xian. It was the fastest train to Xian, and amazingly it was 12 hours non-stop. We left at 7 pm and arrived at 7 am with ZERO stops. That may have been a record at the time for travel without stopping. The average speed was probably 50 km per hour, slow but steady. It had a fancy dining and bar car and great sleepers. My best experiences on trains were on the regular slow trains where you can connect with regular Chinese at a human speed. I mean slow. Learning “slow living” is a nice change from the high speed world.

    Hong Kong is also a city in China that attracted a lot of tourists in the past, but there have been too many violent protests in Hong Kong recently. Tourists are not recommended to stay in Hong Kong. I personally recommend transiting through Hong Kong to Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Guangzhou (cities in Guangdong province). There is a high-speed railway. Tourists can travel from Hong Kong International Airport to Kowloon Station by Airport Express (this is a fast train but not the high-speed railway the media refers to), and then walk along a covered footbridge with good signage to the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, which is the high-speed railway station. There are always sufficient seats on high-speed railway trains, so there is no need to reserve in advance. I recommend travelling by High Speed Rail to Futian Station which is in the CBD of Shenzhen.

From Xian to Beijing been there done that but I did not really appreciate it the time as I was quite ill from a lung infection and my dear Chinese wife booked first class urgent from Xian to Beijing. It was very fast & her family were waiting to take me to the top international hospital in Beijing the moment we arrived. The hospital doc put me a strong antibiotics & the family took me into their home & cared for me for a week til I recovered. That's family in CHINA & I'm the only westerner in the family but they treat me so well like a rare panda. Go ahead, pat him, treat him well, he won't bite & I love them all. China is a family country. You see it every day in every city at all times of the day - morning, afternoon, evening. Parents, children, grandparents all out enjoying themselves. It's the MAIN reason why China is such a safe country...
      Unlike many western countires where the individual is emphasised and taken to extremes by some it becomes selfishness. And they do what they want without regard to others around them.

It is aligned with the huge income gap in China, which is slowly closing (apparently, the rate is fast if you take into account the entire span of history that we’ve experienced in the past 2 centuries), but yes. The Shinkansen in Japan is a dream. If you love trains, you will LOVE the Shinkansen. Please let me know if you ever plan on traveling to Japan. I am very familiar with the country as I have traveled there many times (and also I teach a class at Kyoto University of Art and Design, but it’s a small class of 4 artists and I go once every 2 years haha) so I will be able to give you lots and lots of tips about what to see. I have read many messages and recommended different cities. I also recommend my hometown of Wuhan, Hubei, a city that has just held a military sports meeting. There is a border between the north and the south, with food from the south and the north, and mixed food. Here you can feel the food of the north and the south. Fusion! Although the food in each place is different, but the same province has a very large similarity and signature dishes, Wuhan has a signature dish of the north and the south! At the same time, there are also attractions such as East Lake and Yellow Crane Tower! As a tourist, you are recommended to spring and fall. Of course, you can endure the high temperature of 40 degrees in summer, and the low temperature of 5 degrees in winter. You can also visit my hometown and welcome at any time.

    Enjoy your trip in China. Some time you can try a slower train, which is fewer than before, to feel different China. Many Chinese or youth care more about price than time. Lol.

      we tried the slow trains too, we liked the experience but in the end prefer the bullet train if we would have to pick ;)

    Was on the one in Spain. Would like to ride on that train in China. Starting to see the vlogs on China. We get a very prejudiced view on the west.

      Is there a bullet train type of train in Spain? We didn't know 😳Western media indeed show mostly biased views of China, we really enjoyed our time there!

    Suggestion: add English subtitle on the screen. It it helpful for most Chinese to understand the video who's English reading is very good but listening comprehension isn't .

    • @NaickKim
      @NaickKim  4 года назад

      There are English subtitles on a bunch of our China videos. This one maybe doesn't have any? But it's a very helpful suggestion, thank you! 😊

    Chinese prefers harder bed because it is better for your back. In fact, there are much less back problems for Chinese people than westerners who prefer softer bed.

    這輛車是和諧號,還不是最快的列車,這輛車最高速是300km/h,最快的是復興號,最高時速可達350km/h,另外你現在坐的這可不是頭等艙,僅僅衹是一等座,你說的頭等艙是指商務座,那節車廂祇有5~6个座位,可座位比你做的按摩椅還要大寬敞,可以平躺以及其它的配套服務。
