You can confront Katie about the fish in the freezer. If you check the freezer often enough at the beginning of the game and discover the fish early, you can ask Katie about it. She get's pissed off and says that now is not a good time for her to be hosting. She suggests that Nancy should make arrangements to go back home the next day.
I hate at the end when Nancy's like "they stole Katie's gloves because they needed them". Like....isn't it more plausible that they took them to maybe set her up??
Unless plot convenience that Katie was the only one with the exact same size hands as one of the smugglers/Andy and they don't sell their size gloves in most stores so it'd be cheaper to steal them then I dunno order them online? Either way plot convenience!
Also, after that much time in the water- in SALT water- those furs and leather would be DESTROYED. I mean good lord, have you ever had a leather coat that got rain on it????? If it isn't sealed with a weatherproof coating, it gets cracked and nasty.
13:40 WHAT!? Okay, no. No no no no. That does not happen. That would have seriously injured his arm if the air tank came right at him like that, no one deflects it off that easily!
8:41 she explains later that she wants to use the place she has in her storage for things she can't store at home :) Given that she goes fishing right after her shift, it'd make sense that she keeps what to fix her boat at her restaurant. Love you Argle!
If you let yourself to get hit by the falling rocks at the lighthouse, there's the second chance sequence where Nancy calls Hannah to talk and she says "Hi Nancy. It's Hannah." Lol maybe it was just to show that she was kinda losing it after getting hit in the head, but it seemed like a sin to me at first haha
@3:37, Sin #41: She actually does this a lot, or at least in a lot of the mysteries I personally have played (I haven't played all the games yet). She'll get hired to solve a mystery, or stumble upon one, and then find another mystery soon afterwards, and then completely ignore the first mystery and focus on the second one. It's pure coincidence that the two mysteries just HAPPEN to be connected. Best example I can think of right now, aside from DDI, is CBM (Curse of Blackmoor Manor, I'm not sure that's the right abbreviation though). In CBM, Nancy is sent there to find out what's wrong with Linda, and then after the first ten minutes exploring the manor and seeing all the weird secretive stuff going on, abandons Linda in favor of the manor secrets and finding out about...actually, as far as I remember, she was just solving puzzles for no reason. (Haven't played the game in years though, so...) She didn't shift her focus back to Linda until much later in the game, when she returns briefly to that investigation, only to abandon it again.
Well in one of the later games Deidre Shannon admitted that she'd put Nancy's personal information online, so maybe that's how Hilda and Casey got Nancy's email address?
Deception Island is ACTUALLY Deception Pass. I'm from Washington and I've been there. Since they got Port Townsend right, I just wonder why they couldn't put the proper name down for Deception Pass
Katie will literally scarf down a sandwich that is made with things like peanut butter, jelly, Cheese, bologna, ketchup, mustard, tomato, lettuce, and ice cream. This should actually make her BARF - because you could make a sandwich like this and it would taste ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. You can make an Ice Cream sandwich, keep it in your pocket all game, and give it to Kate. IT should be melted - but Kate won't mind.
You actually do get to ask Jenna why she has tools and boat parts if you look in the closet at the boxes on the left. Also, what is up with non-expired hot sauce causing food poisoning??
it doesn't! Only things that do are the cheese on the counter, the mayo, the baking soda, and the jellyfish. i put literally everything else on a single sandwich and she was fine
Re: 122 and 128 -- that's not a tank on the ship, that's a moonpool (also sometimes called a wet porch), which allows for access to the water from inside the ship -- the bottom of it is open to the ocean, allowing the whale to swim in and out and bring cargo directly into the ship. Apparently a lot of mining and marine research ships have them. So the whale very well could have been diving when the dude said it was, and then came inside conveniently in time to meet up with Nancy and save the day, and it also wasn't confined to this space at all, it could swim in and out freely. This is still one of the lamest endings to a ND game ever, but this little doodad isn't a reason. :)
Lol 139 though, pissed me off so much, took me forever to realize you have to throw it at the whale. Which is so stupid. I mean who would ACTUALLY throw it at the whale? Just swing at his head with it! You're the one with a big heavy weapon, you clearly have the upperhand.
StoryRetold (former Her Interactive employee who makes Nancy Drew videos on RUclips) explains that because of the ESRB, Nancy is not allowed to directly harm a culprit, otherwise the game's rating would not be rated E. Check out her reaction to Arglefumps Everything Wrong With DDI video.
absolutely love these vids, they make me rofl so hard! and I'm gonna disagree with the learning part, considering that whales are freaking cool, and that I love the learning things aspect, and really wish they kept that for all the games.
+Arglefumph I don't know if you'll see this, but I've watched almost all your ND and HB related videos, and you inspired me to write my own reviews on the games and books. I just started writing a review of game #22 Trail of the Twister! I could never write essays in school so I thought I was bad at it. I very recently realized I can actually write. Now thanks to you I'm writing reviews!

I know this is old BUUUUT…. #74/7:00 - Andy got this from Hilda as part of the puzzle with Holt and Jenna obvs, and he liked it so much he made it into his company keychain. What a reflection on his character, he capitalized on it instead of treating it as a gift. As for the letters, I assume he just couldn’t be bothered changing that part and just left them lmao. Lazy capitalist?
Does it sound to anyone else when holt says "you know what else I got in my duffle?" vaguely threatening? Whenever i hear that i always think hes about to show you a gun.

It's not impossible to remember a long set of numbers. I can remember my library card number. So what if she likes ship cargo boxes! If it's mentioned in the game that she doesn't like ship cargo boxes then Michael is half right.
I really enjoyed this game for its setting and nostalgia it gives me. That being said, HerInteractive was AWFUL at plot writing until the last 6 or 7 years' worth of games.
GMD Extrimeman no way. Deception has pretty good puzzles and the plot and atmosphere is great. Capu is wayy worse. No way the two are even close to comparison.
@@theforeverfreak7294 Danger on Deception Island is A Great Nancy Drew Game and even though it has lots of flaws I still like The Creature of Kapu Cave but Yes Kapu Cave could have been so much better

Oooh I never came across that detail. Thanks for the tip!
I was about to comment the same thing. Glad to know I'm not the only one who caught that!
I hate at the end when Nancy's like "they stole Katie's gloves because they needed them". Like....isn't it more plausible that they took them to maybe set her up??
keepmeposted25 right?? as if a group of culprits with unbarred access to rob any store in town can’t just snatch a pair of gloves illegally
Unless plot convenience that Katie was the only one with the exact same size hands as one of the smugglers/Andy and they don't sell their size gloves in most stores so it'd be cheaper to steal them then I dunno order them online? Either way plot convenience!
"Just think! Nancy could've spent all day napping on Katie's boat, and the outcome would've been the same."
I died. XD
"Later on, he forces you to touch it." Hehehehehehe
"AWWWW, She told me to touch it!"
Deep old man voice: "You know what else I've got in my duffle?" ;)
I'm so glad someone else made this joke! My sister and I used to laugh way too much at that line whenever we played the game.
So glad you mentioned Andy's hair and shirt.
Also, after that much time in the water- in SALT water- those furs and leather would be DESTROYED. I mean good lord, have you ever had a leather coat that got rain on it????? If it isn't sealed with a weatherproof coating, it gets cracked and nasty.
I think out of all the "classic" Nancy Drew games, this one is my favorite!
Which ones would you consider the classic drew games?
13:40 WHAT!?
Okay, no. No no no no. That does not happen. That would have seriously injured his arm if the air tank came right at him like that, no one deflects it off that easily!
Jake Worsham I lost it at that point.
Yeah, that's one of those situations in the games where the obvious answer should have been the right one, but it wasn't, because it was obvious.
6:04 Let’s be honest, nothing good comes from looking up wood on the Internet.
That made me giggle!
Anybody else not want to ask Jenna for too much food in case Nancy came off as rude?

Oh SNAP. Maybe they were all working with Taylor Sinclair after all.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the light bulb "puzzle" That was the dumbest thing I've ever had to do in one of these games.

Tiffani Erickson agreed. Michael, please keep making them!
He does, now.

Unless it's a large city, they usually make a note saying that it's BASED ON a specific area. Mainly so they don't have to get locations exact.
On the map at the beginning of the game it looks like it's supposed to be Waldron Island or Stuart Island.
Sometimes towns get pissy if you use them and then take liberties with landscape, etc. Or don't Mentone their local tourist sites, etc.
