Lovely drawing, Paul. I really do love sketching. I hate sharpening pencils though! So many times you sharpen and the lead inside is broken! 😡 so now I mostly stick to mechanical pencils. I have been interested in trying these though because of the varying softness of lead. Maybe I’ll have to give them a go.

Definitely yes please to drawing videos! The Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black are a similar type of matt pencil that I've used quite a lot.

Your comment about jumping around instead of sticking to one spot for long periods is genius! Thanks. Hmmmm, you may be the one who gets me to like drawing. Not sure why I hate it so much, but I do. Pretty much any video you make, I'd watch. You've taught me SO much! Thanks for all you do. 🌻 I REALLY loved your sketchbook tour! Amazing artwork, and it was terrific to see your planning and thought process. Wow!

One thing about hating to draw is maybe you think u do. It is wonderful. I did a sketch of a bar owner and he hung it on his wall behind the bar and always thanked me for it and bought me a beer everytime I came in. So go for it. But I sure understand how you feel. It just takes time to get comfortable with it. I like the Stratford 400 series for sketching. And these pencils will be wonderful. Sounds like they are kinda like a pastel pencil in different shades of black. Can't wait to get some. Now go get you pencil and paper. I can't wait to see what you do.

Oh yes Paul, I would love to see you have a drawing channel! It’s fascinating watching you sketch, I’m watching your new video right now. I didn’t want to forget to tell you, so I paused the video. When I first saw the photo of what you were going to sketch, I thought was very ambitious of you. Never had any doubts that you could sketch it, mind you. Drawing channel? Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Policing myself to practice drawing is very challenging for me even though I know it’s key to improving as an artist. Having something to spur me on would be fabulous. And since I love your teaching style, it would be a dream to follow you in sketching as well as watercolor.

Loved this as a change from watercolours. Not sure I need a separate drawing channel. A mix of the two in the one channel would be my preference. Variety is the spice of life.

I am relatively new to watercolour painting and enjoying this journey very much! I very much appreciate the time and care you take in showing how to use various techniques. It certainly makes my job as a student much easier! I do try to draw or redraw if I am working from a photo or video someone else has done, before I attempt to paint it. Knowing where to start and what to include in a drawing, whether for a painting or not, is something that I often struggle with, so yes please, to some more drawing lessons - if you can spare the time. I watched every second of this! ❤ Drawing is a fundamental of art and it’s worth practicing. A drawing channel would be awesome! You gave me something to think about that I hadn’t before: move around the whole page filling in a little bit but not spending too much time in one spot. Great insights on process.
