The folding bike is the only one that will fit in my Tacoma pick up bed with a cap. I carry 2 in a 5 foot bed. Not much extra room in there with the two bikes though
Good video, and I'm glad your folding bike main hinge uses the three step latch. I've seen a couple of simplifier latches come open while riding, one of them on smooth pavement, and the poor guy almost hit a pole! When I went shopping for an e-bike, it had to be class 2, have fenders and integrated lights, be tough, and fold. Wound up with a RadMini (yours was not available back then, AFAIK), and have been very happy. Fits in the hatch of my car like it was made for it, and after 3000 miles, it still brings a smile to my face.
Review an AMPS RIDES Volt ST 750 90 NM. You should consider selling a bike like that. I'd buy one like that from you if had them. That bike SEEMS to have everything and would be a BIG seller.
Nice vid, My favorite folding Ebike is the Tern Vectron S10 (first generation). After 5 years over 7,000 miles. This Tern Ebike has also been a great touring bike. The Tern is a 20" reasonably light folding bike. No bike rack required to transport this bike with my car or truck. This bike works on bus racks also on Amtrak passenger cabin racks. Really like how light this bike is for transport.
Nicely presented. And first video where I got reassured about using it at 1.80m of body height. Fun fact here...clearly a video for Americans. Due to a lack of a boat or private plane these aspects never occurred to me. In Europe most people that get folding bikes get them because you can easily take them onto a commuter train, underground train or bus, where normal bikes wouldn't be allowed. And often even take it into a building so it doesn't have to be left outside.
The 2021 Avenger and Crusader are the best-looking fat tire folding eBikes I have ever seen. The 17.5 battery is a sure plus, and 330lb recommended weight sure would carry my big body around in style. $1599. how can you go wrong? I would put it in my RV to take with us on trips! If you made an Avenger or Crusader Trike, this would be perfect for my wife. At 70+ she refuses to ride for fear of falling, but I would say she would probably love a Trike. I know you have the Galaxy Trike, my wife says she would like one! Hopefully when you get them in stock they will have the bigger battery. Great bikes Kyle!
I got a Heybike Ranger. It was about $1,400 for the bike and $500 for 2nd battery. The advertised max range No peddle is 40-45 miles, but I assume that's only in very specific situations like low throttle, light rider and flat surface. I'm able to get 20-25 miles range on max throttle no peddling and I'm 190 lbs. I can go about 25-28 mph on flat surface without wind resistance. I wish it had better acceleration, but it's probably good for most people. I got a foldable e-bike because my friend also got the same one and we can fit 2 of them in my Lexus GS350, 1 in trunk, 1 in back seat with seat covers. It's a tight fit but it works, we take the bikes to the beach to ride. Their customer service has been pretty great too. I originally bought 2, I had an issue with 1 and they let me send it back for a refund. I purchased another one and have been enjoying it. Heybike Ranger is a good entry level foldable e-bike. It's the best bike for price.
In addition to being easy to travel with, I could store mine under my desk in my cubicle at work when folded instead of locking it up outside. It’s also much easier to navigate in and out of the tiny elevator at my dad’s apartment building due to its 20in wheels. So I pack my folder whenever I visit him. The only downside I’ve experienced, due to the small wheels, is top speed is lower than I’d like.
I'm on my fifth folder. Only one broke (Asama), I just gave other's away when I bought a new one (or had one stolen). I have done long tours on them with no trouble. I very rarely need to fold them - I ride them everywhere. When I downsized and moved to a smaller city I used the Dahon folder as my main transportation (don't own a car). When I saw an electric folder at an excellent price ($850Cdn) I jumped on it. Where I live there are hills and constant winds and that justifies it. I have about 3500kms on it and have only replaced the chain and brake pads so far. Got some Schwalbe tires on order though for the Spring. I have two full-sized bikes I can use for touring but I am tempted. I know I can do 65kms on a charge with my 35 lb folder. Now I want a mountain bike electric!
Just got the Brompton ebike 6 speed I commute all around the city. I Like that it folds and can take it to appointments. Wish it was a little lighter but got wheels now it’s like luggage. I also have the Mars by Hey Bike that only folds in half and is 500 wt with fat tires harder to maneuver but what a seeet ride.
Now if only it came with a belt drive 😂. Much as I'd love the flexibility of a folding bike I absolutely adore the belt drive on my current daily commuter. The weather here sucks half the year and I was having to clean and lube my old chain drive bike every couple of days last winter. upgraded to a gates carbon drive bike and never going back.
I have an Ariel Rider Kepler. Huge beast! I now am thinking of a second bike. Folding bike with a 14.5 to 30 ah worth of battery. 750 watt or higher. 28 mph or more is a must. Not many choices under 80 lbs 😁
I'm 60, 6 foot 1'' and 6 weeks into the recovery from having 2 knee replacement and do already have 2 - 29er mountain bikes but I do love the low step over the frame design on the e-bikes. My only concern on the Safeway bikes would be how well the pedalling position is.
Great overview. I have ridden folding bikes, mostly non-electric until last year, for many years and have found them to i greatly ncrease my riding options. Well made folding bikes can handle about anything other bikes can and are likely be be taken more places to ride them. I need to find out if an Avenger would fit in the trunk of my car.... Thanks!
Getting an AMP Rides step through, finally, after several months of overseas shipping delays. Should be getting it within a week. Was going to get your foxbat, but at the time, they weren't in and you didn't know when you'd be getting more in. 😣 Anyway, the AMP Rides 'limited edition' folding step through is similar to the bikes in this video. This has a Bafang 1500 Watt motor and a large 52 volt 28 amp hour battery. I'm paying $2,099 for it. Wish you could do a review on this one. Curious to know what you think.
I am happy that area 13 will sell folding bikes and regular bikes most bike shops will not sell folding bikes they say they're on safe I own a folding bike and they are very safe
I love all your videos, but I can’t figure out how you can make so many and also run your business. You either work 16 hour days or have an awesome assistant. Give ‘em a raise!
I got my magicycle bike on Monday I really like your blackbird, but at the price I got this one could not pass it up. Also got it cheap enough that I can upgrade parts I think I would upgrade and still be saving money 😅
SAME BIKE will give Dual Lasting Batter With TWO giant 48V/10AH and 48V/20AH batteries, this electric bike easily powers your most ambitious riding adventures with 124-149 miles of range (pas mode) and 68-74 miles of range (electric mode). The exclusive Smart Battery System strategically pulls power from both batteries to ensure maximum range. Can you do a review?
There should be another timestamp "Am I too heavy", I weigh 116kg (255.7lbs) - one of the foldable bikes i have been looking at has a max weight of 110kg (242.5). Can i still ride it, or could it break?
I'm 75yo & my lady is 72yo so we're not going off road. So many of these bikes are overbuilt for us. We need something that is LIGHT! Also step through. We want to go beach cruising and it does involve some pretty good hills. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.
Is this bike good for people who have some physical disabilities? I have small fiber neuropathy and it's so important that I stay active and stay strong to prevent muscle wasting.
@area 13 great vid. Was wondering if you can help me with a recommendation. I need my first e-bike for my small business. I need a foldable ebike for transporting such as putting in a back seat / trunk of a car. That’s it. I need a bike with good range whether stock or upgrading the battery to have a 30-45 mile range on city streets. I will be basically taking city street to certain locations and jumping into a car. Not sure if me pedaling can help conserve battery. I much prefer to be throttle majority of the way. I am about 5’11 and 170 pounds. So with me going on city streets , I would like the best possible suspension. Ride quality is a big thing for me since I’m gonna be on it for a while. Price is not the issue as I would much prefer a proven brand , not a knock off and with great reliability. It’s my first one but I want to get the right one as my livelihood depends on it lol . Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and help this noob 😅
No it isn’t. I’ve ridden non-e folding bikes for many years. Finally at age 73 I need some help pedaling. I researched the crap out of them. Sure, with no name parts and no service if an issue arises. Yes, you’ll get a warranty from some guy in China. Good luck with that. What's your favorite thing about folding ebikes?
That's the bike I own and I love it! Good review.
I installed a hard rear saddle case on the back and it comes off easily.
The folding bike is the only one that will fit in my Tacoma pick up bed with a cap. I carry 2 in a 5 foot bed. Not much extra room in there with the two bikes though
If you have a n-lock stem, you can turn the handlebars in line with the wheel and the rest of the bicycle.😃
That you can take them folded where you can't take a regular bike.
They are sexy
