I have had a little success growing up Amelia had indoors, I live in the north. So I have to keep them inside. I bought one many years ago and it ended up having twin pups. I didn’t know there were so many varieties of bromeliads. Now those twins are grown up. One has a pup as large as itself, and the other one is having triplets! Now I am trying to grow some from seed. We will see how this works out. Thanks for your information, anything with bright colors is my favorite!

Very helpful. For those in southern climates, just be careful exposing some Neos to direct sunlight as they can experience leaf burn.

Neoregs are def hands down for the best color especially if one can give them the full sun or at least enough just not to burn.

Yes I agree. Guzmania has a bright color for a period of time but not as long and to the same degree

🇦🇺 Hi from Australia. Yes Neo are my favourites for colour too. Can you please tell me name of Neo you are holding at 7.54 in your video? Absolutely stunning. Many thanks.

Hello Ann... the bromeliad at the end of the vid is Neoregelia Sheba. That particular plant has reached anthesis and is showing peak mature color. Btw, we have a vid on Neo. Sheba along with Neo. Martin, posted a couple of weeks ago. Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks so much Rusty for your reply. I have Sheba but where I live in Sydney Australia is obviously not tropical enough to reach the amazing colours you achieve.

Great video on color, Rusty! You should do one the focuses on different bromeliad patterns: spots, stripes, bands, speckles... the difference between margination and variegation. How did Chester skotak develop all those pink patterns in his hybrids?

These are amazing. Where do bromeliads come from?

With the exception of one group, all are native to the New World tropics and sub-tropics.

Hey Rusty! What’s that palm on the left of the screen? It looks like an extra thin lady palm.

Thank you for the video. Why do they keep the pots suspended like that?

The frosty banding on my billbergias and chantiniis will wipe away if I rub it hard enough, but the color on my other bromes seems more permanent. What causes these differences?

But how do you keep it red.

Hi Rusty! Do the neo need full sun? Had a dark red one but lost its color, morning sun, so i moved it out for afternoon sun and it didn’t come back. Thanks

Most broms don't 'need' full sun, and should maintain their color in bright filtered light. Not sure why yours isn't coloring up, but it does take longer to regain the color than it does to lose it.
