John Petrucci, Andy Timmons, Al Pitrelli and Brad Gillis are those who play parts of Purple Rain by Prince on "Guitar Battle" album. From Veojam guitar video library - www.veojam.com
This was back in his Ibanez days..... I always liked his tone back then; much more than with Music Man. I know; it is subjective, but I am not the only one to have that opinion. For whatever reason, his tone was more pleasing then. ruclips.net/video/--cZjxzMQ34/видео.html
There is a full version of John doing this at either Berklee or GI or some other school. He'splaying his old Ibanez sig and it's one of my favourite things to watch on RUclips. There is also a version with Andy Timmons jamming on it with Martin Miller and his band. Mark Lettieri might be in on that too.
I put this recording together in the 1990's, for the Shinko company in Japan. The engine for this song was John Petrucci, who used to jam on it afterschool with his buddies. I love the visuals you added.
Al Pitrelli, John Petrucci, Andy Timmons and Brad Gillis played in Purple Rain. I like how the images transitioned when guitarists switched part.. Good job here 👍🏽
I will go for john, i feel his playing, but i like the tone of the second one, i mean, me as a tele guy i love that tone, ilove also a bunch of slide guitarist i can feel the song to that but i love petrucci style... keep doing vids bro i am on extreme nostalgic right now..
The talent just blows me out of the water..... So grateful for these gems, ...they are becoming more and more scarce. Shudder to think what AI concocted "music" and "singing" will subject us to.
Petrucci definitely sounds the best by far imo.

I dunno, Andy Timmons is definitely keeping the interest on high and much less predictable than John Petrucci
@brandon gilis You’re correct, sir. There’s no way to compare him to the others

If you haven't heard it already
Although I agree, John's is probably the best I've heard
Wish there was a version with just petrucci and Andy Timmons
Wow you beat me to it, man!

Petrucci separates and elevates. Truly one of the greatest. Respect to Andy Timmons too.

Andy Timmons always the best
John all the way. His note choices and the open string stuff is just so magical

While all these are great… no one put the emotion into it the way the man himself did. Prince poured his very soul into this piece of music

Recuerdo salir en mi carro a dar unas vueltas por la ciudad mientras llovia, con un par de cervesas y esta cancion de fondo. era lo mejor.

Before YT, before streaming, before torrents, before news groups.. there were the mighty BBS's. Those were the good old days.
Can anyone point me to a good quality version of this backing track??
