  • In this video, I share glass/polishing tips using 3D 521 Cerium Oxide Glass Polish. Over time, it is common for wiper marks to build-up in your windshield for a variety of reasons. Often, sand and other small airborne contaminants land on your windshield and when you turn on your wiper blades these particles are dragged across the windshield, scuffing and scratching the glass. This is where 3D's new Glass Polish comes in!
3D 521 Glass Polish is a cerium oxide based polish designed to remove swirls, scratches, wiper marks and water spots from automotive glass surfaces. It works to restore dulled and tarnished glass to its original clarity and brightness, helping improve your driving visibility. It is a great prep step prior to application of a glass coating.
For best results, you want to use a high speed rotary polisher with a felt glass pad. Lake Country's glass pads are the perfect felt pad to use! While not necessary, having a foam interface pad between your felt pad and backing plate is highly recommended. 3D Glass Polish is easy to work with and wipes off effortlessly.

    Blue Collar 5 Glass Coating.....apexsurfacepro...
Blue Collar 5 is a Glass Polysilazane Coating for windows and windshields provides superior protection. The coating creates a hydrophobic surface that requires less cleaning and rain will bead right off. Watermarks will be a thing of the past! Also, with it’s anti-static properties, your glass will require much less cleaning. One application will last up to one to two years and where wiper blades are in use, it will reduce the friction resulting in longer use of the blades, before replacement.
Disclaimer: Bigger bottle sizes are designed to refill the 30ml bottles, dabber caps not included for larger bottle sizes
Eliminates hard water spots Protects glass from scratches, chemicals, acid rain, and salt.
Provides a hydrophobic surface that water sheets off Prevents mirrored or tinted glass from fading and discoloration.
    Easy to apply and maintain.
Lasts up to 12 to 24 months.
Coating does not need to be removed to reapply.

I had two situations where I had to polish glass. The worst was where someone use there wipers a while with one of the wipers scraping the windshield pretty bad. The wipers were shot but they kept trucking lol.
I used a white rayon pad and cerium oxide on a da polisher. Worked great but takes time and patience.
BTW, the second time was on my own hunting truck where I used the wipers while mudding. Over time grinding all that mud into the windshield really did a number on it.

I've used cerium oxide & water a number of years ago on my '95 Civic, before I had any sort of polisher. Just did it by hand using a LOT of elbow grease (I was also significantly younger). By the time I was done, the windshield looked non-existent; it was THAT transparent. Used the stuff on a watch crystal as well. I bought about five pounds of cerium oxide (Superox 100T) back when it was $10 a pound... considering the price today, not too bad of a return on investment.

Hey, I've tried out Invisible Glass: Glass Stripper on my cars, and I've found it to be both cost-effective and effective at its job. It removes minor imperfections and hard water spots.

Great demo, only thing not mentioned that Mike Phillips teaches is using a water misting as you polish. It helps to cool and keep the compound working.

I polish/seal all the cars' windshields once a year to remove the water stains and restore the slipperiness of the glass.
I don't need to go to the extreme of a scratch, just enough to remove the water spots is good enough.
The wind of driving most of the time causes the water to just glide off and only need to use the wipers on intermittent.

I’ve yet to try an aggressive glass polish or a rayon pad….however I’ve been using your BC5 ever since it came out. It’s on my cars and I put it on customers cars.
In a side note I tried Ethos EZ Glass Graphene glass coating once and immediately went back to BC5!

This really took a few passes..? 😳 Back in the day when I was polishing glass it would take at least 30 min for such scratch.. I was using cerium oxide + rotary + hard flat pad for glass, and it STILL was a very very slow correction.. Cannot understand why 🤔

I had a customer use a scotch brite pad to get some bugs off. I polished on and off for about an hour. Most of it came off, but because of the laminate in the middle I didn't want to go any further. He didn't want to make an insurance claim for it

Can you use a regular polish, something like 3d one or even megs ultimate compound with a 50/50 pad and polish glass with that? Ive always wondered, never did a polish on glass except by hand just to clear it up and clean up some of the junk but thats it.

Good point. Can I use Jescar Heavy Cut Compound on the glass?

    • @JamVar
      @JamVar 6 месяцев назад

You can. Doing so can remove light to moderate water spots and etching, dependent on the exact pad and polish combo. Just don't expect to remove anything but the lightest of scratches. The material itself is extremely hard compared to paint, hence why a heavier cut + multiple passes is needed to improve/remove actual defects in the surface.

Are glass ceramic coatings truly necessary? Can one not just use the same ceramic coating you apply to the paint? What benefits and special formulation is there to the glass coating? Or is it just marketing? Thanks for you insight.
