The longer I live the more I hate adverts. I think they pollute our lives in every respect. Great god buy, buy, buy so that me, the agent, can make a stupendous profit. I disregard them and can’t tell one from the other. It is good, always, to get back to the content. But I see that they help many a folk like canal boaters.

Muck spreading, an old farm worker told us when we were kids to take deep breaths it's a good old country smell thats good for the lungs!!! Lol! Looks a very pretty canal. 🙂

Looked pretty windy, the locks heavy going. These vandals should be made to operate the locks as a punishment.

In July lock vandalism even made the news in New Zealand. On the Shropshire Union Canal. Lock 10 Audlem flight is currently out of action due to what looks like vandalism of the tail gates. The shear pins at the top of the gates have been removed and when the lock was in use being emptied, the gates have dropped and are now inoperable, with the boat stuck in situ in the lock.
I don't understand it. All the energy they must have used to remove those shear pins. They could have used getting a job. You stay safe.
I agree. I think the locks were cut because the standard crt key doesn't fit. I had to get one cut to use these locks.
What amazes me is the energy needed to push shopping trollies down the canal and then throw them in.. 😂
eeeyuk , i can't stand that manure smell , sometimes it's really strong & makes you feel ill lol , that looked a very shallow canal , you'd better check your weed hatch .
I know what you mean about the smells. It's pretty common in the countryside.

hospitality. This is my 3rd day waiting for a mri scan on my leg. I'd rather be boating but your vlog has given me contact with the water. Sitting here with headphones and a huge grin is giving other patients the thought I'm one sandwich short of a picnic😂😂😂

Hi Will. Adverts can be so intrusive as you say. Thanks fir thinning them out. I watch through them with the sound off so hopefully you get youtube money for them. Its a lovely branch to walk up or down. Explored round there many times but never realised those were visitor moorings across the end.👍. Thanks. The harbour below the lock at the end of the basin has a tidal gate on it that rotates down to open the harbour for a couple of hours either side of high water. Or thereabouts! It broke a while ago and I think its working again now. Sounds familiar!! ☹👍👍

To be honest, this canal is very clean and mostly quiet. It's rare to have vandalism.

Hey Will, I do some woodworking and use CA glue (aka super glue) and baking soda (aka sodium bicarbonate) to fill defects in the wood (aka my screw ups😂). It sands easily and, as you probably already know, you can get CA glue in different colors to help hide your mistakes...I mean the defects (😁) in your wood.
I'm sure you hardly give it a second thought but, watching you take tight corners and turns, maneuvering by another boat in a tight spot, squeezing though a narrow stretch under a bridge without the slightest scrap ... in a 50'+ steel tube like it's nothing, is something to see.

I didn't know about different colours.
I'm sort of used to the size and feel of my boat now, but when I first got it , I thought it was massive and I'd hit everything. I can tell when the nose is going to touch the lock gate. It's amazing how we adapt.

There's alot of farmland along this canal and muck spreading is a common smell along here. Whole towns smell of it sometimes. Ha ha ha.

Anyway will.. here we have another stunning example of just how to produce a video that is informative and interesting and a great pleasure to watch..
I hope that Leon is ok .and that he has sorted his boat.out ...what do I think about the lack of water in some parts of the canals system... leaking locks has a part to play in the problem.
Leaking water catchment areas . alone the system has always been a concern .and always has been.
Anyway will keep smiling mate keep yourself safe and well..I liked the baking soda and glue tip...I have a few things to try this on..

This canal does suffer from leaks on the culverts and aqueducts. Later on, the canal nearly empties due to a breach. Stay tuned for that. 😉

My van still has a light on the dash but runs great.
These lock gates break down quite often.
