Before yesterday, there was once life without Band-Maid. After tomorrow, there will never be another day without them.
They played this at the Yokohama Spinoff Concert, a surprise and brilliant
That particular concert was phenomenal and Saiki was stellar singing this song.
The footage is from their March 26, 2016 appearance at Sakura-Con in Seattle, Washington. I believe this was their first overseas show, although as a convention apply it isn't generally considered their first overseas solo concert. That would come later that year in Mexico City, where they played a full show. This song is one of my favorites of their songs written by outside writers (up there with Forward, The Non-Fiction Days, and Don't Let Me Down). You picked a favorite moment in the video among the maidiacs for your thumbnail, too.
I had wandered the music desert 🏜 for decades, out of complete curiosity I clicked on Band Maid Thrill at a bus stop in summer 2016, I had finally found my musical oasis, I don't know how many Japanese Lady Metal/Rock band's that I listen to on a daily basis, all I can say is that I listen to them exclusively at 64 year's of age.
Alot of folks say the intro sounds like Don Henley "Boys of Summer."
The footage showed us that MISA can actually smile, and it's pure delight to see! Also now shy she is!
Band-Maid all the time!!!!!
Like you, Fab... before Yesterday I was doing everything I am doing before tomorrow… listening and watching Band-Maid, of course! 🤣🤘
Someone on the internet said the footage for the official music video was filmed in Seattle, Washington where they played a concert early in their careers. The chunky opening rift that Kanami plays sounds a little like an Eagles song.
Iirc this was their first concert outside of Japan. Contrary to rumor, this was not the concert where MISA decided to stay with the band; she had that moment at an earlier show in Japan. But this show was an eye opener for the band and maybe their management after "Thrill" going viral on Facebook. This *might* be where the "World Domination" idea was born. That said, they've been very clear that they want the general Japanese audience to appreciate them as much as their international audience does.
I looked it up and it seems to be true.
@@thefablesfolly The video footage is definitely from Sakura-Con in Seattle. I'm especially fond of this MV because it has the same studio-track-with- concert/bts tour footage that was common for so many MVs on MTV back in the day for bands that Band-Maid remind people of but do it better. And the 'Maids would completely say they were building on what predecessors did. They broke out in the West partly because they took nostalgia and made it new again. THEN they took the listeners with open minds into other musical realms entirely.
I've always thought it sounded a lot like Don Henley's "Boys of Summer", akind Eagles related.
Can confirm, that's the big stage at the Washington Convention Center in downtown Seattle. The support pillars and lighting rig are pretty distinctive. I wasn't there for Sakura-Con, but I've been there several times for other conventions.
I don't recognize most of the outdoor scenes, but they definitely look like downtown Seattle looks. A few years ago, someone actually mapped out all the locations on the video in Google Maps, which pretty much settled the debate.
I can only imagine passing them on the street... although a group of vaguely-loligoth looking Asian girls isn't that strange there.
Saiki looks like a baby singer! So cool also to see them on a walkabout in Seattle. I think this might be the first time the crowd chanted MISA MISA MISA! Buy not sure onthat. Perhaps someone could verify that.
Not sure if it is the first but you can see it, look for, BAND-MAID _ Sakura Con 2016 _ Member Intros.
Great reaction, love to hear your doing a dive drive- that's awesome
There is a song where the lyrics are not wholesome, but they didn't write them. They may not have even completely understood them, but they were under contract. It's 'Don't Let Me Down'.

Band-Maid deep dive, WOOT!
That intro sounds like the guitar on "Boy's of Summer" by Don Henley.
Really good point about mid-tempo playing, you're pretty exposed. Fortunately, Band-Maid executes tightly!
I was in band for 5 years in high school (played low brass) and I've been in a few rock bands. Also, I'm a bass player in training, and I can play some keys and drums.
pura "Delicatessen"
👍😁🥰🤘🤗🕊👀
Misa with her G&L bass dates this to 2015-16, in the USA?
Before Yesterday! This is kind of a melancholy slow song… but it’s fast and hard too! This is a great example of a Band-Maid song that pumps you one day, and makes you cry the next. Sensei Kanami composed another masterpiece 🕊️❄️🍌🥷🎸
Early BandMaid has some nice songs. I'm a bit late, but thanks for your reaction.
