Im currently still rocks twists. I moisturize once a week but my edges every day. Wash biweekly maybe lol and detangle retwist one by one so I don't have to start over... Im gonna try doin this for 6mos. I dont go out much and if I do I wrap it up in a kaute scarf. I live in northern NY near Canada so its cold here and soon to be snow and freezing. So less is more for me. Im trying to get my thickness and edges back.
I do the same thing, I have lots of hair but my edges have taken a beating!!! If you have any advice how to get my edges back, let me know, God bless, stay safe out there!

I wore my hair like this for awhile because it was the easiest style and low maintenance. But I will warn everyone to not constantly part and style their hair this way. It’s like it was growing out sideways lol growing exactly how it’s parted. Switch up your parts . Sometimes I’ll alternate with a single braid going to the back 💖

This really works. When I started my growth journey I did this style literally every wash day for a year and my hair grew at an insane rate! Like almost 8 inches. Idk if that’s good for a year worth of growth but it was good for me!! Lol
I never really noticed it until I straightened it. I knew my hair had grown some because when I started it was just at my shoulders and I noticed my hair felt heavier and it had now grown like maybe 2 to 3 inches past my shoulders in its natural state. Anyway, I straightened it and I was so shocked. I went to visit my mother and her jaw dropped lol. Unfortunately I think my hair has gotten used to my routine or maybe it’s reached it’s plateau but I’m still trying. Lol
This is my daily hairstyle. I was so happy to see this . I’m in my 60’s (did y’all know this was Rosa Parks go to style). Getting older I like simple 2 braids , I want it to be stylish but this made me feel like I’m not alone . The water is key , I add an oil mixture almond, olive any I can add .

Knox Harrington Girl cut that bs. I thought y’all were over that genetics shit. You have tribes in africa doing similar things and their Curly natural hair is long too. Natives value their hair so they take good care of it.
@Mary Ellen all things that are determined by genetics . . . Like I said. And having your hair BRAIDED in a low manipulation style allows the hair to be STRAIGHT so the sebum can travel down and keep the strands moisturized and thus retaining hair growth. Skin color is irrelevant to the behavior of hair. Even someone with particularly coarse hair would see retention with hair in two braids versus that same person wearing their hair out in an Afro because of GENETICS. Someone with finer or straighter hair doesn’t require the same delicacy so braids or no braids it would grow the same.
