Surviving 24 Hours of Sad Movies

- Movies are easily my favorite form of storytelling. And I tend to gravitate towards the heavier ones. But, after a lot of intense ~real life~ stuff, I no longer wanted to watch the newest A24 sad movie or that year's Cannes Palm d'Or. And that makes me sad.
So, we're doing something about it: a little homemade exposure therapy, if you will. 24 hours of sad movies. I might get emotionally torn to shreds but as long as I prove to myself that even after 24 hours of being slammed with sad movies, I am perfectly fine.
It sounds irrational to type out and, honestly, the idea of surviving 24 hours of sad movies sounds ...not all that challenging. But that's the thing when you lose touch with yourself, it no longer makes logical sense.

I might actually give this one a shot myself! I never thought about watching sad movies like this as a way to find/connect to yourself - the artform of film was always more of a distraction from the real world than a mode of exploration for me. Anyways, very interesting :0
ELPEHANT MAN IS ONE OF MY FVAORITE films of all time. surprised with the low score. Its so wonderfully done
The saddest movies I've watched
1- In America (2002)
2- Blue Valentine
After Yang moved me so much😢 but that’s cinema. it’s subjective. Great list of films!
I'm gonna give it another shot when it isn't sandwiched in the middle of all the feels, bc it feels very nuanced - I liked the world they built!
@@sydneeegoodman I also think I love it because of the soft spot I have for Columbus (which has an amazing performance by John Cho) and some of the best framing/cinematography which after yang has plenty of too. I think Kogonada is such a vibe!
you should really watch "About Time", I feel like that is right up your alley
