  • What is a Certified Nursing Assistant? Many people know the job as CNA. What does CNA do in the medical setting? CNA can be considered as one of the backbones of the health care system. Besides the nurses, most of the direct patient care in many health care settings is done by CNAs. CNAs do lots of things for the patients ranging from taking vital signs, helping patients bathe, dress, eat, and move around.
This is a good entry-level job for you if you are interested in learning more about how the hospital work. Working as a certified nursing assistant, CNA, is a great way to begin moving up the nursing or medical career ladder. I do recommend this job because you get to interact with all the nurses from different departments and main floors of the hospital. After a year of working, it will be easier for you to switch to another job inside the hospital if you decided to advance your medical career.

Was an EMT. Never was a CNA. Did think about becoming a doctor, but after shadowing and working w/ multiple MDs, it's not a career I want to do for the rest of my life. Nurse/Doctor will be working long hours and some weekends. I am now in Healthcare Admin, working 40 hours only and have weekend off.
