      @@DToneQuest Hey - love it and on it. Next on my 'to do' list is a series of videos around various modeling devices for Celestion speakers on their channel. I'm in production on the first video which will be on the QC. I'll be putting together various rigs, and that will include other pedals. Also, Mission Engineering has a box of expression pedals and a USB battery powered pedal board power supply on the way to me per a video on this channel around using an expression pedals with the QC. Hey, Doug! Just joined (admittedly been lurking for a long time), and have been a QC user almost 2 years - still learning how dial things in! So many rabbit holes. After watching this and trying to find something in RUclips that addresses it unsuccessfully), I thought maybe you could help…
    I’d like to know best practices for setting up a dual amp set up and blending them - similar to what Dean DeLeo does with a Vox AC30 and another amp run with light and heavy overdrives/distortion in the QC.
    I hope to hear from you on this!

Might not be exactly the Dean vibe (LOVED the AC30 Marshall thing I heard him doing on Scott's last tour with the band), but again, let me chew this over. I will definitely be getting your captured once they get a pay system set up. While you found a work around I do hope they add a preamp or two in the amp section. I suppose one could be captured as well. I also hope the Worship Tutorial guys make a few presets. I know they should get theirs real soon and will have it before mine comes from Sweetwater. Of course if the pay system is not up I will have to spend time to make my own. I am perfectly capable,I have made a bunch for the Helix, but I tend to do things at my pace. I am overly picky. Lol. Thanks for signing up, and as you probably know I'm tight with the WT guys. Brian Wahl has been a HUGE help on the video production front for me and they make AMAZING patches, hence the whole 100,000+ downloads! And yes, capturing some preamps is a great idea. I'm chewing through what free content I'm going to push to the app as a community support. An acoustic preamp would be an obvious choice, but my #1 choice is on loan from the original manufacturer, and that would be a VERY weird phone call to navigate. GREAT food for thought. Great to eMeet you! Cheers ~ Doug:)

    I'm using two line 6 powercabs 112. The speaker modeling is better than the cab modeling or irs in modelers. I don't have to use any cab blocks in the modelers and it sounds great. I have to keep the powercabs at a little less than half volume for gigs. I wish i could turn it up more. I have a QC on order but I'm getting impatient because I'm playing alot and might get the full Helix instead. I really like the scribble strips. I want to see which button does what. I never thought i would go digital but after gigging with an HX Stomp (borrowed) i am sold. Sounds great and i have musician friends that are against modeling and they came and saw me and said " wow it sounds great" they also said " i hate that you're using that digital s***. I was also an amp snob. I saw a couple good guitar players using modelers and it sounded soo frikin good, i had to try one. I a/b with my amps at home. I like both about the same but the modeler is so much more versatile. Actually i get better lead tones out of the modeler.

    Excellent walkthrough Doug! I'm anxiously waiting for my QC (Tier 2 preorder) so every little bit of info I can get before it gets here is valuable. I've got an early 1990's Marshall JCM 900 Lead 1936 2x12 Cabinet with (I think) G12T-75 speakers that I've never really been in love with. Do you think it would be worth it to replace those speakers with either F12M-150 or F12-X200 speakers to create an FRFR cab for use with the QC and some kind of power amp or would I be throwing good money after bad? Looking forward to your Celestion videos. Thanks!

    • @DougDopplerMusic
      @DougDopplerMusic  3 года назад

      THANKS Jeff. So, the QC Celestion video should be up sometime next week - most likely. That will be a great opportunity for you to hear for yourself. While the 2x12 cabs obviously not identical to the 1960A cabs I've got loaded with the FR LRs, that will definitely give you a pretty close idea of what it will sound like. The cool thing about these speakers is that they were made for guys like us who have these cabinets that were MADE for guitar. Also, like the cabs I'll be using you can run in stereo using the one cabinet which is also cool, if your included to do so. I LOVE it, and your ears will tell you if you do. Thanks for 'jumping in' to the FR LR convo, about which I'm REALLY excited (more than my neighbors are too)!!!

    • @DougDopplerMusic
      @DougDopplerMusic  Год назад +1

      Hey Carlos, thanks for watching, the kind words and a GREAT question. I think the QC is still an EXCELLENT piece of gear. I would have to say for the capture functionality it is ideal if you want a quick, easy, and GREAT sounding way to put your favorite amps in the box. Smart workflow, great tones, and still as good as anything else on the market. Better is totally subjective for a range of reasons - my personal live rig uses an Axe-Fx III because it can sit on the back line and is an amazing sounding piece of gear. And I love my various Helix products because they sound great and the editors have always been GREAT. I ALSO love the Boss GT products - they sound and feel great. Kemper sounds great, but I did not find it intuitive to work with. The Headrush MX5 is also another great piece of gear, especially for the money. I think the biggest thing I can say is that the QC is a great form factor, sounds great, does a great job on captures, is pretty intuitive to use, and has more processing power than most people will ever need. Still super strong, and again, GREAT question:)

      @@DougDopplerMusic thanks I appreciate the response. I just snagged a QC. Not 100 percent into it’s form factor. Especially being as powerful as it is. I’ve been using a Helix Rack and control setup for 2 years now. So I’m planning on racking the QC and letting the helix do all the midi switching. And I’m the case of a failure I have the helix ready to go as a backup. I’ve tried all the major units and I couldn’t agree with you more. Love the UI in the Helix. I’m hoping like the Kemper that the QC will get what it deserves it’s too powerful not too. Cheers and look forward to seeing your channel grow!! Excellent content!!

    Great video! Are you connected directly to your interface? What cables do you need?

    • @DougDopplerMusic
      @DougDopplerMusic  3 года назад

      Hey Nacho, appreciated. The easiest approach is to use two XLR cables into two inputs on your DAW, coming from outputs 1 and 2 on the Quad Cortex which are XLR only. Since this is how the stock presets are routed, this is probably the best route. You can also route audio via USB, using the Quad Cortex as your audio interface, but I prefer to use my Universal Audio Apollo interface, into Pro Tools and for monitoring. That makes it easier to disconnect the Quad Cortex and not take down my whole studio in the process. So, two XLR cables would be my suggestion! Cheers ~ Doug:)
