It is where the guy on the right attacks with the factory and the uses a Twiddle to untap and block opponents factory. Good play but thought both factories would die from the interaction? Thanks for all your good content and commentating, it is stellar :)
Sweet match! Lots of cool tricks with Twiddle, and Reconstruction also got put to good use. Shame about Lich only making a brief appearance on its way to the graveyard, but still - Mono Black😍
@@JoenErikHuusgaard I think the Time Twister ended up making it a mute point- but I thought the play: Twiddle+Time Walk = 2 extra cards from howling mine, was a really good exchange, which is why it stood out to me. Note: I've messed up plays as well- commented because the setup was clever and rare.
I’ve always felt that Necropotence was supposed to be a fixed version of Lich. Where as many of the cards that had fixed versions later were fixed due to the originals being way broken, where Lich was considered unplayable and the “fixed” version was the broken one.
@@TimmytheSorcerer It was very broken for its time. But it was too slow and made the player too vulnerable if it was available during 94, and a bit redundant.
Lich/Mirror is a 1993/94 so it’s pretty old. But it was never a tournament-worthy deck. It was more of a troll deck. Lich was played back in 1993 when the rules were the Wild West and people would play Lich and tell opponents they lost as if Lich could target an opponent and give them zero life. Once DCI fixed that through rules clarification, Lich/Mirror came out. The Mirror deck that worked was the one with a recursion shell. It ran multiple Mirrors, a play set of Lightning Bolts. Basically you kept taking turns with Time Walk-Fork with multiple Howling Mines out, and lock the game. The kill came from reducing your own life using mana burn and City Of Brass damage until you’re at 3, switch life during upkeep and then bolt the opponent. ????? Then profit from the expression on the opponent’s face. This deck was so good, it got Mirror Universe put into the Restricted List. Unfortunately this is lost to time because there is no mana burn in any format including current 94 formats.
Hi Roch, there’s mana burn in a lot of os rule sets, including EC and Atlantic. Love the idea of getting multiple turns with time walk and fork, did u play multiple walks in those days?
@@TimmytheSorcerer Thanks for letting me know. Ancestral, Time Walk and Timetwister all got restricted around the time deck min went to 60 from 40. Imagine running 4x of each of those blue cards…in a 40 card deck. And Force Of Will being 2+ years away still.
@@TimmytheSorcerer Oh no doubt. It's just because I have a mono black lockdown deck that shares a lot of similarities to this one and I see what could have been lol (special place in my cold heart for winter orb) 🤣🤣🤣
You can find all the matches of this tournament in the UTC V playlist, ruclips.net/p/PLsGeV_wxUkUbE_Xf7zh7Iw-tP5tPuvkin&si=aJ0IHF_VZ7N8NFVo
I wish we can see more of that lich deck in future
We’ll have to invite Nilsen for another video :)
Nice Iron Maiden Eddie Mind Twist 👌🏻🤘🏻
A lot of great plays. I do like seeing a mono colored deck do what it's supposed to do
Any chance to see a deck that plays mine/winter orb/relic barrier, etc (assassin, icy..) AND necropotence?
If Alpha-Alliances gets more traction; sure!
Maybe in the future, but we just finished an Alice tournament and man, Necro is só good. Totally wrecked my monkey deck!
Love the Jim hawkings cards
Everyone seems to splash black for twist and tutor, why no green for tranquility and crumble?
35:15 shouldn't both Mishra's have died here?
What factories? I see Thomas play out a timewalk 🤔

Yes, I also hoped for a bigger role for Lich
15:14 missed his howling mine draw
And then missed to pay the extra cost for the transmute artifact
This was round 7, we were quite deep into the beers at this time 😂

Interesting Lich build deck! Too bad couldn’t see it in action!
Agreed, I was really hoping to see it go off..
24:24 kids these days with their fancy bowmasters. In my time we got U N D E R W O R L D D R E A M S and sh*t was cash

Funny that you say it was more of a troll deck, because that's exactly what Thomas said he was playing; a troll-less troll deck 😂
@@JoenErikHuusgaard Yup. It's hilarious too. I'm surprised he didn't mix in some Word Of Command for extra fun.
End of game 1 blue player could’ve activated his disc in his upkeep this destroying the underworld dreams and survive. Right?
Do you have a time stamp?
I think so, too. 27:40
Bad karma for Joen Eric for the next 3games!!!
Trigger warning! Can't mention Karma around us black mages!😂
Best response ever🤣🤣🤣👍@@JoenErikHuusgaard
Anyone who has the brass to play a lichverse deck is automatically my BFF. To bad we didn’t see it :(
Against any other draws I feel he likely wins
I use green in mine using fast bond to get lands out and dark heart of the wood to draw cards
