Remember that UGLY was realeased on the #1979 single in Europe/France in 07/1996 when JC was fired, it makes something to me that they can play it now he is back to the band. Would have been so great to play it with D'Arcy too.
Billy, this shit talks to people. Hurting young people feel songs like this, they cry over them, and they find resolve in words that resonate. You save people's lives with songs like this. And this is why long term fans find it so hard to connect with the new songs. There's no emotional connection in some bullshit narrative about Zero or Cyr or whateverthefuck and their interstellar journey. You think people only want you to write Siamese Dream over again, but that's not true. They want you to write songs that connect to them. So stop with all the astral planes bullshit and just do it. Sincerely, a fan.
It's hard to write songs like that when you got a family you love and a life you truly love. I think he no longer can be able to due to that fact. I know for a fact, he was hurting in 1993-1996 due to his divorce and most the songs on mellon collie were about his ex wife. That's probably where most of the inspiration came from. Billy has moved passed all of that.
i think op just means to be real, not necessarily depressing. there new stuff dorsnt connect to any deep real human emotion the same way the older stuff did, regardless of the emotion expressed
@@dkolendo you got it. He doesn’t have to sing about really dark stuff, he just needs to be real. He’s doing the podcast because he needs to explain what’s going on in each song. Otherwise, it’s too obscure for anyone to figure out, and therefore impossible to relate to. Even Cyr had moments which were relatable, but where it wasn’t I didn’t worry because the songwriting was just so damn good. It worked as a synth-based album too. Here’s he’s gone overboard. Cyr sounded like an album written in isolation during lockdown, but on Atum really he has no excuse for underusing three excellent guitar players and crowding everything with synth.
Wow reward for fans of the airplane flies high!
This is phenomenal

SOLARA!!! wait nope this is a good one

Well damn, nicely said. I think we can stop hoping though. Even this performance was stale.
