Jessie Mueller is a queen! She can play any role flawlessly! I discovered her when listened to the Waitress OBC, and she has become one of my favorite Broadway Actresses!
As much as I love Sutton Foster, Jessie Mueller should have been cast as Marian in the last Music Man revival. Her vocals in this video alone prove my point.
Yes! I have firmly believed this since I first saw her perform! She could announce she's playing Sweeney Todd and I would fully support that casting choice.
@@ashleykauk7910 I want a one night concert all-female version of Dear Evan Hansen Jessica & Jessie trade off on leading role. Jessica on "Waving" and Jessie on "Words Fail" for example. Silly I know but I'd pay the price to fly out and see it.
Thank you SO MUCH for producing this with this cast. I went to see it on the additional day (the 11th) pretty much just because Jessie Mueller was in it. I'm so glad that this production was my first exposure to The Music Man. It was such a great time.
I love Norm Lewis, his beautiful voice, the mischievous glint he gets in his eyes at just the right time, his great stage presence, and have enjoyed his performances in a number of roles. Perhaps because Robert Preston in this role is so ingrained in my head, I need everyone else to meet that standard. I have been hoping perhaps Hugh Jackman might have a take on the role that I like. As with Yul Brynner in The King and I, perhaps I will remain forever stuck in the past and never be able to appreciate new takes on Harold Hill. I’m happy there are those who obviously loved his performance. Everything changes and moves along. I could watch Jesse Mueller perform anything and be amazed at her talent.
If you have a chance to see the current revival at the Winter Garden with Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster - go see it before it closes on Jan 1, 2023! There is warmth, wit, fun, conflict, romance -- all the human emotions that make any artistic material appeal the most! The Winter Garden show is all about real human people, with emotions - the acting is superb, the songs are sung from the heart, not from the vocal cords, the dancing is energetic and joyous reflecting the emotions bubbling from within, the change in the town's sense of community is very perceptible...and the change in Marian and Harold's feelings so well portrayed - after all, it is an improbable love story made possible right before the audience's eyes and ears! Congrats to the cast for showing the audience the most obvious joy of performing in many a show on Broadway!
Hmm. Interesting. I'm not sure which broadway version of The Music Man I like most. The 2019 version with Jessie Mueller or the 2000 version with Rebecca Luker. They both played the role of Marian Paroo very well. I'm aware there is a differences in the year it was played but which broadway version is the one I prefer, I do not know.
It h has been said in critical writing I read long about the lackluster quality of the song "My White Knight." For years I have agreed until hearing a snippet of Jessie Mueller's version. It was cut from the movie for a reason. In part to make room for a new song for Oscar consideration, something new for movie star Shirley Jones, but also because the song seemed dispensible. Yes, I know the legendary Barbara Cook originated the role, sand the song first, blah, blah, blah and I LOVE MS. COOK! But for the first time, this song really got to me.
Might catch it on Broadway 🎭. I think it’s going 2 be an all- star cast lead by Huge Jackman and some favs of Broadway will also be leads. Can be swell . Jessie Muller is 👍 as always 😊
This makes the current Broadway version pale in comparison. Much better orchestration, singing, production value and feel. I think Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are talented but this production overall nails the feel.
My guess is at the time a big revival was bound for Broadway later that year with Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster and I think a PBS version of this would have been considered competition so at the time maybe not? Times have change so at this point who knows?
Barbara Cook said it herself, "Harold Hill has to be sexy, like Robert Preston." Norm Lewis is just a little too old and... Idk he comes off a little creepy to me in "till there was you"...
That professor hill sure can sing, but his acting is horrible. Very stiff and unbelievable. He should be a smooth con-man. Ugh. No thanks. Everyone else looks and sounds great!

Everyone else: wow Jessie Mueller and Norm Lewis
Me: it’s ya boi Ryan Steele
Wearing a Newsies cap again!
This is the first time I’m seeing a POC Harold Hill!! I love it & I love Norm!

Norm Lewis deserves all the awards!
amazing to see such a diverse production for this show 🥲
Jessie Mueller is a CHAMELEON! I'm convinced there isn't a part she couldn't play.
Yes! I have firmly believed this since I first saw her perform! She could announce she's playing Sweeney Todd and I would fully support that casting choice.
@@rpennylane7 I would pay a lot of money to see her as Sweeney Todd
Or as Glinda! Her and Jessica Vosk would be INCREDIBLE together
@@ashleykauk7910 SAME. She would be great as both roles!

This takes me back to the days when music and theater were a little girls dream. Thank you so very much

That staging kind of scares me I keep waiting for them the fall off the stage wearing those shoes I know they're professional actors but still
There needs to be a full version of this released on some streaming service, or to buy!!!
Jessssiieeee 💖💖💖
I see you Eloise K, love her tap skills
UGH WOW JESSIE! UGH WOW NORM! UGH DAMON AND RYAN ARE BASICALLY NEWSIES AGAIN
Please bring this to broadway!
The Broadway revival starts later this year starring a Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster.
Happy 76th to Rachel!
Would have never imagined jessie as marian but im loving it
This cast seems absolutely perfect! I wish I could’ve seen it!!!!
i could listen to jessie mueller sing will i ever tell you for the rest of my life
Today's answer to Barbara Cook and Shirley Jones.
I literally come to this video just to watch the few seconds of when she sings it. It's so angelic when she sings it.
Would love to have seen this version ⭐️
Bravo!!! :)
Production ideas have a good day 😀

Was that Rosie O’Donnell!!!
That’s what I was thinking lmao

Hearing Jesse Mueller sing without an accent is really weird.

i like to describe the music man as: The one with the aggressive jazz hands
Rosie is so good as the mom in my opinion!
The besrt possible cast today.
Will this be broadcast on PBS?
This Single Mom PLEASEEEE
This Single Mom z

Monorail
known Norm Lewis as Javert it's a little weird seeing him dance around like that... Not in a bad sense, though!
Easier to imagine than Porgy dancing around. Seriously, he's a stupendous talent. The Phantom, Joe in 'Show Boat', etc.
If this was the high school musical it would sneak in with a pass.
We all sin.Jesus made a way.Jesus loves us&He died for all of our sins&rose again. He lived a sinless life! He cares about you.He is coming back.
Barbara Cook said it herself, "Harold Hill has to be sexy, like Robert Preston." Norm Lewis is just a little too old and... Idk he comes off a little creepy to me in "till there was you"...
He is a deep baritone, it’s the wrong vocal range, in my opinion.
So this is replacing BEETLEJUICE.. MY FAVORITE MUSICAL OF ALL TIME, ITS GOING AWAY!!! BECAUSE OF THE MUSIC MAN!!😭😭😭😭
I AGREE
Well the music man is a classic and may sell more tickets because of Hugh Jackman
This is not the production that is replacing BJ, but yes, the show itself is
Well guys this is the guy that want bettlejuice out
Kill him
Ok no its a jk xD but why i prefer bettlejuice than this im so sad
That professor hill sure can sing, but his acting is horrible. Very stiff and unbelievable. He should be a smooth con-man. Ugh. No thanks. Everyone else looks and sounds great!
Professor Harold Hill was not black, that just isn't right!!!!!!!!
Norm is very disappointing but everyone else is fabulous !!
Wrong
The production looks so cheap! The costumes and hair are terrible.
