The Felix Cardigan was the first cardigan I knit (Dec 2023). Very easy knit and came together so fast. I really like wearing it. I would knit this again using a different yarn -- I bought a Lettlopi kit to make this originally because I was curious about the yarn. It is rustic which I expected and great for cool weather outerwear. I would like to make another using a softer yarn, maybe using handspun. Thanks for doing this roundup. Always get ideas from these kinds of videos. (The Rebel Cardigan is on my to-do list too!)
I am almost finished with my first cardigan, the Gambit, by Wool and Pine. It's knitted top down, in DK yarn. There are 11 sizes. It costs 8.75. There is a cable on one side, which is actually the button band. The gaps in the 5x5 cable provide the button holes. I found it pretty easy and lovely.
I fell in love with the pride purl one, but when I added it up, it was so pricy. I think she held 3 together two lace one fingering. But hopefully, I can find something that's somewhat worth the price. No one would spend that amount on yarn. But I will find something. Beautiful selection
A great video featuring cardigans ! Yay ! I am currently knitting the Felix cardigan and Im enjoying the pattern. ❤ and of course i will be adding a couple of the featured patterns to my fav list 😊
I’m wearing my alpaca Hitofude cardigan while watching this. It was a fun knit. I remember huddling in it while it was still on the needles in a massively over-air conditioned restaurant. I also like the Lily cardigan for an A-line summer cardigan, and the Portage for snuggly winter wear with generous pockets.
My favourite cardigan pattern is the April cardigan by Petite knit. Love the saddle shoulder, and add a double knitted button band, looks so stylish in my opinion, will be knitting a few of these ❤
I've just started my second Champagne Cardigan by Petite Knit. I wear a large size so it's not easy to get a good fit, but her sweaters and cardis are perfect.
I added the very first one- the Folklore cardigan by Lion Brand because I recently knitted a shawl with their fisherman's wool for the first time and I loved that yarn so much! Would love a sweater out of it for sure!
TWO QUESTIONS on the REBEL CARDIGAN (Thank you for your help!): 1. Available sizes listed as 1 - 9 ? What bust measurements are these equivalent to? The only bust measurements provided are for "Finished Bust Sizes". 2. "The garment is designed to be worn with approx. 27 cm (10½”) of positive ease for smaller sizes and narrow bodies and gradually less positive ease for larger sizes and busty girls." Why LESS positive ease for larger sizes?
It's best to ask the designer your questions so you hear exactly why she made those decisions. The 'Finished Bust Sizes' are the actual garment measurements. You take the amount of ease you want (in this case, the designer recommends 10 1/2) add that to your bust measurement and choose the closest size. It's common to use a percentage of ease that creates the same look in larger sizes without too much excess fabric (and, as someone with a larger bust, I appreciate it when a designer adjusts the amount of ease for the larger sizes).
I am so in love with calm down cardigan from Lily Kate France and Maybury cardigan by Ami Lowden. Recently finished Trepassy by Jennifer Beals and can really recommend it. It was engaging and faster than expected. Also on my cast on list little love by Ankestrick and Corran by Rebecca Clow. RebeccaClow’s pattern just give so many options that I would knit most of them. Vneck /round neck, short sleeve/ long sleeve in the same pattern.
Really enjoyed this video and have a few that I'd like to make. Please can you include more lighter weight ie 4 ply/fingering weight patterns as it is nice to have more of a range, not all Aran/worsted weight
Just saw this video. Thanks so much! I made the Lochlan Hoodie by Corrina Ferguson. If is a FREE pattern on Interweave and has a video for the chevron part of the pattern. The only thing I will do differently when I make it again, is add a steek to knit in the round.
I am almost done with my everything nice hoodie. My second finished knit garment. Not difficult. Love love love it but there isnt too much hand holding in the pattern. I used knit picks city tweed and its super snuggly. Has enough details to feel like i learned something and ended up with a slightly more than basic sweater.
I've just been asked to make a Step by Step cardigan by Florence Miller. There's even a video tutorial for it here on RUclips. It is a simple beginner friendly pattern. It will allow me to enjoy some simple knitting with the yarn I'll be using for it.
This is so timely!!! It's what I've been looking for. I'm going to try the Rebel Cardigan, but also found a similar one yesterday: Fine Sand (ruclips.net/video/H7ABT_xMlQ4/видео.html). I want to try a cardigan and I'm going to get one of those on the needles. Great podcast.
Do you have a favorite cardigan knitting pattern?

A cable button band sounds really interesting!

Tonia, my favorite cardi that you showed was the Rebel! I've never knit a cardigan and I don't know how to handle the bust adjustment. Can you advise?
I love the Wildhorse cardigan by Jessica McDonald. I have made it twice and love them.
Thanks for the pattern recommendation!
