Okay but the last one was soo freaking clever.. I realised that I, in fact have not put myself in my sims position and therefore the sims i played with would be all the same. Must try this method for sure!!!
When giving a makeover I like to have a reason, like my Sim had a breakup and stopped caring about their looks or they got an f u cool new style depending on personality, or a new corporate job means a new haircut and more mature outfits, they met a cool new friend and are influenced by their style etc.
That’s a good idea but as a ps4 player, we can’t do mods so the clothes are already ugly as it is.. (well not all since thank God I have a few expansion packs)
another tip for family gameplay: when my sim has a toddler the trait is completely random. when they become a child i randomize the trait until it reflects one of the traits of the parents (so a potential of 6 different traits or less depending on if the parents have adult-specific traits). when they become a teen i randomize the trait until they have a trait that is *not* shared with either parent, because this is an age where a lot of people branch off and try to figure themselves out. then when they become an adult i randomize for either a new trait or a shared trait with the parents depending on how close they were. i think this makes the game a little more realistic but also makes it more interesting because you're forced to work with randomized traits
I've always played rotationally and never get bored. I play with my seasons on 14days and play each household for a season. I've set my worlds up with unique features and if my sims want to visit, they have to go on vacation to that world. Sometimes they love the world so much they pack up and move. I try to think like my sims and often let sentiments or their emotions guide my decisions. Even the random phone calls I work into their stories - sometimes they end up being friends with sims I would never have thought of. When the pop-ups happen in game- the ones that tell you the outcome of your choice, I roll a die. My sim gets fired sometimes, or loses job performance. I really try not to focus too much on achievements - like promotions, grades and skills, unless I think my sim would think that important. Sorry for the essay, I love sharing ideas and hearing how other people like to play 😊
Hey!! I'm wondering.. wich lifespans do you play at?? Because everytime I play rotational my sims age up, and I usually don't like it when they do it without me:/ so how do you do it??
@@rayyaislam2383 I play on long lifespan and in your settings set it for aging on active household only. That way only the sims in the house you are playing age, your other households will not age until you play them.
To make my game more interesting, I started to write down a possible plot for my sims' story, but, instead of deciding everything that's going to happen, I roll a dice to have a random outcome. I tried to play rotationally, but I got bored of it because I used to play two days with each family and I didn't have the time to do anything I wanted. Now, I prepare a plot for each family and play with them until the plot is over, and I'm actually having a lot of fun.
You hit on this a little bit, but I would like to expand it. Don’t ignore traits and moodlets. I think every body wishes moodlets had a bigger mechanical impact on the game, but that doesn’t mean you have to ignore them. Actively avoid negative moodlets even if they don’t carry consequences. Also if your sim hates children, actively avoid children even if there aren’t really any gameplay consequences. Treat the Sims like a role-playing game. Play a person and make the choices that person would make regardless of gameplay mechanics
Putting the lifetime at "long life" has really helped me woth playing one family for a long time.it helps me bring up my kids in a way that I get to figure out their personality fully and see what they will want to do and be like as an adult. When babies become todlers I randomize the trait and base their whole life off that. Except for homework. I'm obsessive that all my kids do their homework. Idk why. I could never finish my homework as a kid maybe that's why. Trying to make up for it I guess🤷🏻♀️
I completely agree with slowly building up your house, more realistically. Whenever I give my self an awesome house right off the bat, I get bored after the new wears off. Also I'm horrible at making my sim act how they actually would. I'm always keeping their moods perfect, and if I have an evil Sim I end up feeling too bad to make them actually act evil 😝
I also take a lot of photos with/of my Sims, even without the Mosccino Pack. Buy a camera where you can make bigger photos, for every Sim in your household one camera or switch one to every inventory after time if you don't have enough Simoleons. They haven't even to pose for this, when (for example) a grandma plays with their toddler grandkid, take a photo of them with another Sim, it will be a great memory. After a time you'll have a great Album of their live 😄📸🎞 Or another thing i did recently: play with divorced parents, and let the kids move every week to the other parent. Maybe they have stepsiblings and they hang out with them in San Myshuno, after a week they go back to their single mom in Brindelton Bay.
Playing with roommates more often! Like literally moving a sim or two in. I think a lot of us get stuck in the finding a soulmate to move in but a roommate can add a lot of good drama or not!
i just read through the comments and daaaaamn you all are sooooo creative with the way you're playing the sims. you all got me inspired to try new things gameplay wise. thank you so much 💐♥️
I totally agree with the makeovers. I always give my sims quite a few makeovers while they’re in uni (which I make almost all of them do). It really helps me to get to know them and to develop their personality! P.S. Such a great video!!
I used to love sending them to uni, but I always tried to make them finish it as quick as possible (4 courses per semester) and it was super tiring. Right now the no longer live "long", they live for a "medium" amout of time, so I don't really have much time to send them to university
Legacy and rotational play seems to complicated for me (but sounds really cool!). Anyone else get overwhelmed playing the game sometimes, and bored other times?? LOL it really is like real life 😂😂
All of these tips are true to keeping the game interesting! That’s why I find it hard to NOT play the sims 4. It’s still good in its own way. Lovely video and voice as always 🤍
I like the idea of adding in families and houses from the gallery. However, I sometimes find them incredibly boring. They are often very 'perfect' houses and sims. So I do my own version now - my own npc's, if you will. When I create my own sims, I like to give them at least one physical 'flaw', and one negative character trait. And I try to play their lives true to their traits. I give them multiple outfits as well. This makes it sooo much more interesting. Other times, I just randomise the traits/gender/other thing, and create the sim based on that - you get some pretty fun combinations. I write a little back story for every household. I also build them a house, based on their personality. For example, I am very fond of Monroe, the crazy clockmaker, and his house that is filled with clocks. Or lady green, who is obsessed with collecting frogs, who live in a house that sort of resembles a frog. And who can be without Donny Zest, Johnny's much more rich, successful and handsome rockstar twin brother? (who hates him) What a lot of people liked about the previous games was the craziness and chaos. And yet, many of us fall into the trap of trying to make things perfect, myself included. Why is that?
i absolutely love having routines for my sims, especially with couples and small families. right now i have a couple in my game who have a toddler and the parents wake up around 6 every morning, brush their teeth, and wake up the toddler for breakfast. then they put him in his high chair and feed him breakfast while they eat their own food. it’s super cute. i’ve also been playing with rotational gameplay recently and it’s so fun!
when my sims grow up, i ALWAYS randomize their traits! its fun trying to think of how the traits would piece together to create a unique personality and making decisions through their shoes like you suggested! it makes legacies so much more interesting and realistic. a child might have the nicest most perfect and caring parents ever but still turn out to be an evil criminal haha its so much more fun when you're crossing your fingers hoping for a good trait to roll hahahha!
I think it helps to establish who your Sim when you're creating them. Some kind of brief backstory, perhaps. For instance, I made a Sim recently and decided I wanted her to have been raised in a hippie commune. From there, I made her look and personality revolve around that. I named her Sunshine Valley. She named her twin daughters Rainbow and Dandelion. She's very laid-back, interested in Wellness and environmental issues. Thinking about where she came from and who she is helped put the rest into place.
I’ve been slowly changing every single venue and home in each world in the Sims but I’m customizing each one by hand or from scratch! It’s been taking a long time but so worth it!
I really regret that I didn't get into Sims sooner... this is probably the most fun I've had in a game in a while. I really love how much variety you can do with your gameplay. Like you literally do not have to stick with any rules at all. And your "take it slow" approach is a great idea. The first sim I got married had a severely rushed relationship: they became boyfriends and engaged in the same night and got married two days later, so I barely felt chemistry between them.
One thing I’ve found as I make a challenge revolving around the worlds, is that replacing usually expensive lots (like the mansions in Willow creek) with cheaper houses or parks can spice up the game quite a bit! There are parts of Willow creek that I’ve never seen because it’s just too expensive to move in, but when you add a park into the neighborhood? You can head there weekly!
i loveee taking photos of my sims and special moments. during the holidays and during vacation it’s so fun to capture all the sims having fun and putting the around the house. I take a photo of the kids each time they age from toddler-adult for the memories. I also started recently creating friend groups of the kids and teenagers. I’d have them make a best friend from someone they meet at school and have them hangout. Plan sleepovers, shopping days, I added a salon, a mall, a movie theatre from the gallery so that they can go to.
I think Sims 4 is more fun with extra drama and spice. I used to make my sims love each other constantly. They never fought with siblings, they never had enemies, and their careers went smoothly. Sometimes a breakup or a bad day at work can make everything more exciting and realistic.
That's curious that a few days ago, before watching this video, I did actually try to refresh my game using some of these tips. I rebuilt the original house, tried to follow the routine, decorated home for holidays and developed the relationship of my Sims gradually. I began to enjoy the game more than ever before, so this tricks really work!
I put myself and my fiance into the game and we have had a small child. Then I realized that my three adult kids would want to know their siblings. I've made an apartment lot and replicated their places there. One of my daughters has an upstairs apartment and the other lives on a ground floor. My son lives in a little backyard cottage. I was able to fit it all plus their pets. Now I've been doing play testing and made some changes for gameplay reasons I realized my daughter and my daughter's roommates need their boyfriends. I am having a blast. I'm going to do rotational gameplay. It's really fun doing things the way they would, giving them jobs they would want etc. I also used cheats to put them where they actually are in life. They are midway through careers and already have relationships with each other. When I started up the lot, my daughter and her best friend immediately started chatting. The pets love their owners but need to get to know the other people etc. I am in the process of tweaking the lot so they have more activities their like a pool and workout area. This is really fun
I tend to completely randomize my sim's traits so the sims figure out their personalities entirely, and then make up a whole backstory for them in my head. As more traits are randomized, I tweak the backstory accordingly. Backstories are what really makes my game fun and I love to add loads of chaos and drama into them. This really helps make my game more fun, and I start planning backstories since they're toddlers. I hope this helped! :D
I had a rotational save to start with (five families living in Newcrest), and I did enjoy that -- my current save is me focusing on two specific families that will eventually blend (it's a polyamorous threesome with the help of Wonderful Whims), but in THAT one, I've been having fun in replacing some of the more horrible Eaxis builds with better lots from the Gallery! Save file "renovation" can be great, especially when you put a little twist on the Gallery creations to make them your own. :)
Personally Legacy gameplay is my favorite type of gameplay, I just love to see my Sim family grow and the generations they carry on. And when I first even started playing the Sims 4 I did the legacy challenge with my Cousin and I (We had our own separate families, in the same household) (and still doing that legacy!) But what I usually to keep the game less dull is by (If you don’t use CC or Mods, like me even though I have a computer.) is by when you first create your Sims add freckles, moles, zits, beauty marks, weird/uniquely shaped teeth, etc. This also helps with helping pick out your personality for your Sim. Give your Sim(s) a negative so they don’t seem so dull Have a goal by each generation to have this much money or this many goals completed Adopt Children/Pets and help them shape out your Sims back story (haven’t got the pet pack yet, but it sure looks fun! :) ) Make up a backstory for your Sims, were they an orphan? Did they run away from home? Were they extremely rich before and now broke? Do they have goals of finding love before a certain age? Did they have a forbidden romance, and they move towns due to the shame?
I haven't played a lot of The Sims 4 yet, but with The Sims 2, my favorite thing to do with babies. I loved having toddlers around in the house. Your tip about naming what you sims would name and not what you would name makes me think of two of my families in particular, the Thompsons and the Wilsons. These were the first two families I made in The Sims 2. With the Wilsons all of the children had a name that was also a last name. The first generation to start this were James and Lauren. Obviously their names are not last names (or hers isn't, James can be a last name), but they named their sons Stanley, Ford, and Cooper. Ford and Cooper did not follow this tradition, but Stanley did. His children with wife Jocelyn included Gary (Garrison), Dallas, May, Kendall, Rose, and more. Dallas married into the Thompson family. His wife, Devon, was named after her father, Devon Jr, who was named after his father, Devon Sr, so of course their oldest was named Devon. They also had Daile, Daelily, and Delroy. This was sort of a part of Devon's family's naming as her and her sisters all had D names like their dad, but their brothers got F names like their mother, Felicia. Lots of fun with names and each family feels different because their names do feel like something the parents would pick.
My tip is to think of ways to use your packs together. This is something I always do before buying new packs, but you can do it without buying new ones. One of the scenarios I played was using Get To Work, Tiny Living, and Discover University along with the base game. I moved an alien into a tiny home and sent her to college to learn physics and rocket science. I then built a rocket and sent her to space to make friends with other aliens. There are other scenarios you can play by combining packs. Such as: A spa day in Sulani, a mermaid and spellcaster falling in love, or celebrities going on a wild adventure in the jungle. Another little thing that I love to do is take wedding photos when my sims get married. I just use base game for this, but it is so fun and I love hanging it up in the couple's home.
Thanks you so much for this! Especially for giving ideas that don’t use mods or cc. As a console player that is very appreciated! Can’t wait to try out these tips, especially rotational gameplay! Never even thought of that lol
I would like to say that this video was refreshing in many was, not least the content was vanilla, i.e. no cc/mods and also you were not dis-respectful to the cc/mods community or to players who use this type of content. As for your ides, well I have used some of them in my game, I sadly have had to stop play with big families as I kept getting confused as to who was related to who and in regards to putting yourself in your sims shoe, well you can do just that with first person view, I think it is shift + tab and then you see the world through your sims eyes and this can make for some very “interesting gameplay”!! with and without mods.
wow i did NOT know that I could change the lot type to be rental in base game...! as someone who has none of the DLC this is amazing news to me; definitely building a rental lot soon!! thank you
I recently gave my favorite vampire sim all 3 control emotion powers, and 3 people died of anger. and since my sim finished the strangerville storyline I unlocked a mischief option to give random people bizarre fruit! It's quite hilarious and makes the game more fun.
One thing I do more since watching your videos is switch to first person view. It really does put yourself more in the position of the sims. It helps to connect more.
I know this isn’t a super recent video but I wanted to weigh in on overhauling the worlds and making something super custom. I just started doing this and it has brought my love for the sims back. It’s made me binge the game that I hadn’t touched in years. Highly recommend
I built my first shop and was really impressed! I was definitely enjoying the process, I may not have all the packs but I have myself a little LP, it’s fun! Learned a lot of cheats and I’m learning a lot! I still wish I had CC though
Not rushing things is something I'm really working on. I've played Sims since like... 2007 or 2008 maybe? And I quickly grew accustomed to always cheating their needs, like my default playstyle would be maxing out the needs and making them static so I wouldn't have to worry about them and waste time with boring stuff like sleeping and peeing. But a disadvantage of that is that it makes everything SO much faster, it's like you get too many hours in the day to the point where you reach all your goals immediately and the story runs dry. So just in the past few years I've started to play without cheating the needs and it's a good way to slow things down for me (though it does annoy me that I now hardly get anything done because they have such limited free time lol, thank god for the long life span option), and I'm also trying to just pace myself and make things more realistic instead of rushing through every goal. In regards to relationships I like the idea of not meeting the right person immediately, instead you may casually date a few people who it doesn't work out with and maybe even have some relationships that don't last before finding your life partner!
Another idea: find a movie or book trope you like an reenact it with yous Sim. but dont stick to hard to the story, your sim might want to go a different way.
I know it’s one of the best-known challenges, but I can’t stop recommending the Not So Berry challenge! It really re-ignited my love for the game, and I find having goals to hit makes gameplay a lot more exciting and fresh for me. I’m only on gen 5, but I’ve already written 10 more generation rules of my own so I can continue for as long as possible.
@@Iamhannahd they’re kinda long to put in a RUclips comment, and I haven’t play tested them yet so there might be some hitches! When I get to that point I will probably post them and I will put a link here! 😊
Love this! One of my favourite things is to be an absolute drama starter. Make your sims roommates or partners have conflicting personalities, start chaos with one, try to fix it with another good Sim, love but also break hearts, Build but destroy dollhouses
Here's what I'm doing: drama. Yes, I may be rushing things, but I think it's worth it. I'm having so much drama in my game rn. My ex, Travis, cheated on my sim with Liberty Lee and has 3 kids with her and is married to her, Liberty cheated on Travis with my SON Liam who has a kid with someone else, I got a new husband and my granddaughter Sydney is now married to my step son, My other son is married to Bella Goth because her husband passed, etc. It's been SO MUCH FUN creating drama and letting the Sims around the world grow old and have kids and see the new young adults around. My house started as crap and now It's big and beautiful. I definitely recommend adding drama. Makes things so much fun lmao.
I'm doing the not so berry challenge right now and with the normal lifespan. I feel like its too short to move slowly and sometimes the chaos of it moving so quickly is fun. But I agree, I like moving slow and bonding with the sims way more. Such a hard choice between chaos and bonding lol
7:03 YESS!! So my sim was really into marvel and i thought she would like to name the kid Tony, because her favourite marvel hero is Iron man! It adds so much more detail even though it's a small change! It really helps figure out your sims personality
This was a super interesting video! I do a fair few of these, and I think I picked up those habits specifically from watching how Kelsey Impicciche plays. She's doing the Not So Berry Challenge right now, plus she frequently edits her Sims' appearances, puts herself in her Sims' perspectives, and takes things more slowly; all things I've started doing in my game. So I guess the point of this comment is to use Sims RUclipsrs to inspire your own gameplay? Pretty obvious, but I only just connected it 🤷🏾♀️
Lately i've been trying to add a pinch of drama to my Sim's lifestories and that has made a huge difference. Also, when creating a new household or getting a couple married, write a brief story about them on the description, like the ones that come with EA's NPCs. That can help a lot to not lose track about their personalities and what they "aim in life".
idk why but i like changing my sims outfits when a sim ages up and a new season starts. i like to think a few years passed and mess with some of their features like they’ve aged a little as well. it makes it much more interesting to me
Wonderful ideas, but it does kind of infuriate/amaze me that we literally have to get creative to make this game an enjoyable experience. That really tells you how much of a flop the sims 4 was. I used to play TS2 and TS3 for days and never got bored. So much more dynamic and mysterious of games.
Give the sims 1 positive, 1 neutral and 1 negative trait, it's so easy to fall into the normal set of traits and they shouldn't be clones of each other. When I build I make a garage for more than just cars (that we don't have anyway) and they get to "enjoy" a room for cleaning products.
Rushing the game is so true! I had a legacy sim who was in college fall in love with another student there. They switched dorms when the new term rolled around and they really got closer. My sims ended up graduating 2 (game) weeks later and moved back home where both his parents died in 2 days apart. His girlfriend had finished her term in school and decided to move in with him. They ended up getting engaged and now shes pregnant. All this happened in 3 (game) weeks. I feel connected to this save because I usually have sims meet and get married within 3 (game) days. This save has sentimental value. Not to mention he has 3 simblings and a plethora of nieces and nephews all over the town. I'm using New Crest because it game me the option to build the town how i like and add in buildings/venues when I need them
1) I love using photographs. Not the screenshots but the in game photography skill. If I have a sims wedding or childbirth or holiday celebration I usually try my very best to have photos to remember the occasion. If a child grows up or is in scouts etc. I will have photos of each life stage around the house. It helps me remember the story of the family better. Also photos take time and kind of force me to slow down my gameplay without rushing everything. 2) In addition to your 'vacation' part - since this update I placed a vacation lot in every neighbourhood I could and often my Sims are only allowed to travel to other nieghbourhoods by going on vacation there, forcing me to properly explore the neighborhood I'm currently living in better 3) (kind of goes with number 2) I have my families actively impact what community lots will appear in my current neighbourhood. If I have a Sim child/teen who loves Wellness and/or Working Out, but there is no Gym/Spa in their neighbourhood I pretend they are helping to build it, so they have a place to hang out. Start a club for working out when they are young and update the lots accordingly to who is actually living in the nieghbourhood, so their needs can be met.
I would also recommend playing with another person, both my sister and I have our own sims 4 game on our own laptops but we realized that it’s so much fun to play together. Back in 2020 during the pandemic we started a new game on my laptop and it is so much fun, we play with the same family, she plays with one kid and I play with one of the siblings and we currently are on the 13th generation and it really is so fun playing with another person, we just take turns controlling our sims so yeah just thought I would throw that idea out there
I loveeeee doing the second one I am so happy I watched this video becuz now I do most of these things even tho I don’t have the best sims games and sims clothing and stuff but it is so fun so I totally recommend it!
I am totally doing one of these right now for the first time. I am replacing all the lots and Sims with those from the Gallery. I also have rules...each world has builds that match with what packs were available at the time. So, base game builds for Willow Creek and Oasis Springs, +Get Together for Windenburg, +City Living for San Myshuno, Vampires for Forgotten Hollow, restaurants in Newcrest, etc. (The only thing I've cheated on is Laundry Day. I allow that for all residences, because why shouldn't Willow Creek residents be able to wash their clothes lol.) It is so much fun, and I can't wait until I'm all done so I can play the game with so many new places to visit and so many new Sims to meet! (Oh, also the only previous NPC I didn't delete is Clement Frost, cuz he IS the REAL deal! I don't want those fake Santas lol!)
Something that works well for me is the complete opposite of one of these lmao. I find that playing on shortlife span is really fun. I find if I play with longer lifespans that I end up not doing anything with my sims bc "I can just do it later". I find the lowkey stress of "omg she needs to get married now and have kids and make friends before she dies alone" to push myself with the my sims.
Great video! Thanks! The only problem though with gallery lots is packs. What I mean is here in an example; I found the ultimate mansion in the gallery but they used all the packs to make the house. So those items would not be available to you and your game if you don’t have the pack. BUT there is an option to chose lots with just the packs you have OR uncheck ALL of the packs if you just have base game. Just a little thing I discovered. Also here, be sure that you check the lot size so that you purchase a lot big enough to put it on. Just a few thoughts, thanks again!
Loved this video! So many things in here really add to the game! I love rotational gameplay with different people a family tree and celebrating holidays and having them go to new lots! I do use mods and CC a lot but also am kind of bad at updating them and don’t want to rely on them for everything. Thanks for the short and sweet video!
I've made myself a new sim a couple of days ago so I can do a couple of new things, play a legacy where I play with aspirations I've either never finished or never used and to complete different things like go to all the hidden worlds, vacation in the vacation spots etc. I'm enjoying it right now
My legacy family is on eight generations currently - aiming to get to ten! I play rotationally and with lifespan set to long. It can get very overwhelming and complex at times, and you feel that you're neglecting certain families at times too.
Rules I play by are that I try to always learn the traits from different Sims and when my Sim and a stranger have traits in common, they‘re becoming my Sims love interest. And by conflicting traits I often fight a lot with these Sims. Also not being friendly to everyone can spice up your game. And with parenthood I‘m only allowed to skill my toddlers up with an adult. With this system, it is a bit more rare to become the top notch toddler trait. I also randomise the traits for my children, which can often lead to surprises and makes the game more fun. But I‘ll definitely try out your recommendations.
I was watching to get some tips to make the game feel fresh but heheh, you said the word interesting so many times and I couldn't stop noticing it every time you said it :) thanks for the gameplay tips.
Something that I did recently is give my Sims more realistic bank account balances. For example, I did a quick search of what the average bank account balance was depending on their age. My Sim was a young adult, and I read that the average bank account balance for people under 35 was between $3,000 and $12,000 (mean = $3,000, medium = $12,000). It made my game very interesting. I actually had to budget and watch my bank account balance. I couldn’t decorate how I wanted. My Sims had to learn how to repair things in the house. I really liked it.
I like to use a dice roller app on my phone to pick between choices. Evens=first choice, odds=second choice. That way it's not what I would want, it's just random what happens.
It works for me to create stories and follow several generations of a family with different styles. I love your way of talking! I'm not a native English speaker but I can understand your videos very well.
I recently started committing time to build my sims story more. I have a singular sum that I give milestone to, and right now she just got married after being promoted twice and going on 4 successful dates. She lives in a large house, but many rooms are empty because I want her to slowly start furnishing them as she has kids. I’m looking forward to having a legacy house with the entire family on 1 lot, so when she becomes a grandparent, she’ll still live with the family. It’s made the game play a lot more fun because I didn’t start off by giving her everything she might want.
This was very helpful, Sims just came out for free recently and even though I'm not new to gaming at all, I still felt quite stuck so tha k you for this video :)
I love the sims so much but I can never get attached to gameplay 😂 I can create the sim and style them to their personality build their house/apartment to them and still be like “welp I’m bored now time to start over”
Do you upload them to the gallery? I wouldn't be surprised if there are people out there who like the Sims but are less creative or just want to jump into gameplay. (Like me!) Even if not a people download it, it can still live on and help other people out! Now when you start over, instead of ditching what you made, think of it as creating content for the gallery!
i use a lot of mods and they can be rly fun and make the gameplay more interesting!! however, i do find they make the game less realistic sometimes. i have a mod where i can change relationships with a click, and just accomplish any aspiration and fill all their needs in. while that can be helpful, it makes the gameplay less fun in the long run. im going to try to use that less! and thank you for your tips
if i'm having trouble with putting myself in my sim's shoes, i try to commit to fulfilling all of their wishes (except annoyed ones that don't actually reflect their interests like buy a bee house or whatever they're called). even if it's something like "be friendly with _____" i take it as a sign that maybe my sim wants to hang out with that sim and they should go somewhere
it can be fun to be strict about this too because just say you have a noncommital sim and they want to quit their job or break up with their significant other, it can lead to plot twists
I tend to always do things with them. Like a holiday but also especially with the parents I make sure they sometimes go on dates. And there they just talk and walk around looking at the place. I think it makes it more realistic to let them live rather than going at it fast
I feel like I’m gonna try a combination of these in so excited!! I’m going to play rotational (i don’t know why but I’ve never thought to do this before lol), also remake all my townies and houses, i love the rental idea and playing the way your sim would act as an individual. ❤ thank you for your tips i can’t wait to try out
My favorite thing to do is if I build a new house that house is obviously new and most times in real like you might get rid of some stuff you have when packing so I’ll decorate the rooms sort of empty and very minimal but over time I add so many different objects that fit the sun in their room to make it seem like they’ve actually been living in that room for some time
I was doing the millionaire challenge but I switched to the power couple one.. I had a tiny maximist decor house the woman who resided inside was a serial romantic and her plot was to have all her boyfriends live in her basement to both wood work, paint, garden, and find collectibles.. lol they would then all 10 of them have to play cards for her hand in marriage
This video was relaxing and entertaining and I'm gonna re watch it just because it makes me feel good. Very lovely video, subscribed. Love your accent and how you speak and the soft music, good job!! Edit: and you jump right in!
I just started a legacy, and yes it is fun! My sim married Johnny Zest. They have a daughter, and they moved to Del Sol Valley where Johnny is still pursuing his dream. He's doing great! My sim is a teacher. Their story is unfolding so beautifully! 💚

When giving a makeover I like to have a reason, like my Sim had a breakup and stopped caring about their looks or they got an f u cool new style depending on personality, or a new corporate job means a new haircut and more mature outfits, they met a cool new friend and are influenced by their style etc.
Those are awesome reasons to give your sims makeovers!! Thank you for sharing.
I change my sims casual outfit, hair and makeup every season. Using fall colors, lighter clothes in summer that kinda stuff.
@@evelyndossantos708 Me, too!!
That’s a good idea but as a ps4 player, we can’t do mods so the clothes are already ugly as it is.. (well not all since thank God I have a few expansion packs)
another tip for family gameplay: when my sim has a toddler the trait is completely random. when they become a child i randomize the trait until it reflects one of the traits of the parents (so a potential of 6 different traits or less depending on if the parents have adult-specific traits). when they become a teen i randomize the trait until they have a trait that is *not* shared with either parent, because this is an age where a lot of people branch off and try to figure themselves out. then when they become an adult i randomize for either a new trait or a shared trait with the parents depending on how close they were. i think this makes the game a little more realistic but also makes it more interesting because you're forced to work with randomized traits
this is very cool
I love that! Im definitely going to try some of these things!!
Going to be trying! Xx
@@SamJones-qx9hz omg thank you so much!! Im definitely gonna try it :)))
That's exactly what I do in my mega-save! And then my beloved Sims can make surprise guest appearances (or more if I feel like it) in my other stories
The problem with sims 4 sims is that they have no personality at all.
@@meltedprincess they definitely do, maybe you’re controlling them too much? Or trying to make them a “ perfect” sim?
@@tal7461 oh my gosh you’re calling me out.
@@tal7461 they all act the same from what I've seen, not too much personality
I completely agree with slowly building up your house, more realistically. Whenever I give my self an awesome house right off the bat, I get bored after the new wears off.
Also I'm horrible at making my sim act how they actually would. I'm always keeping their moods perfect, and if I have an evil Sim I end up feeling too bad to make them actually act evil 😝
Same lol
I also take a lot of photos with/of my Sims, even without the Mosccino Pack. Buy a camera where you can make bigger photos, for every Sim in your household one camera or switch one to every inventory after time if you don't have enough Simoleons.
They haven't even to pose for this, when (for example) a grandma plays with their toddler grandkid, take a photo of them with another Sim, it will be a great memory. After a time you'll have a great Album of their live 😄📸🎞
Or another thing i did recently: play with divorced parents, and let the kids move every week to the other parent. Maybe they have stepsiblings and they hang out with them in San Myshuno, after a week they go back to their single mom in Brindelton Bay.
THATS CRAZY I CANT BELIEVE I DIDNT THI K OF THAT I GREW UP LIKE THAT OMGGGGG

Thank you!! I also utilize the gameplay aspects of Parenthood too, it's a very fun pack! 💜

i just read through the comments and daaaaamn you all are sooooo creative with the way you're playing the sims. you all got me inspired to try new things gameplay wise. thank you so much 💐♥️
I totally agree with the makeovers. I always give my sims quite a few makeovers while they’re in uni (which I make almost all of them do). It really helps me to get to know them and to develop their personality!
P.S. Such a great video!!
Yes! It's a very good storytelling tool to develop their personality. Thank you for watching! 💜
I used to love sending them to uni, but I always tried to make them finish it as quick as possible (4 courses per semester) and it was super tiring. Right now the no longer live "long", they live for a "medium" amout of time, so I don't really have much time to send them to university

(who hates him)
What a lot of people liked about the previous games was the craziness and chaos.
I did the same last year but with townies. It helped me to like the townies a lot more.
I've done something similar - but I make it a pool. Or a museum or something along those lines.
i loveee taking photos of my sims and special moments. during the holidays and during vacation it’s so fun to capture all the sims having fun and putting the around the house.
What funny timing!! I'm happy to hear you are enjoying the game a lot more. 💜💜
And when I first even started playing the Sims 4 I did the legacy challenge with my Cousin and I (We had our own separate families, in the same household) (and still doing that legacy!)
But what I usually to keep the game less dull is by (If you don’t use CC or Mods, like me even though I have a computer.) is by when you first create your Sims add freckles, moles, zits, beauty marks, weird/uniquely shaped teeth, etc. This also helps with helping pick out your personality for your Sim.
Give your Sim(s) a negative so they don’t seem so dull
Have a goal by each generation to have this much money or this many goals completed
Adopt Children/Pets and help them shape out your Sims back story (haven’t got the pet pack yet, but it sure looks fun! :) )
Make up a backstory for your Sims, were they an orphan?
The way I panicked when I saw my tumblr LMAO thank you for all these tips! Always looking for more ways to spice up gameplay
Aww haha! I really want to try out your challenge since it looks so incredibly fun. I'm happy you like all the tips!! 💜💜
I like making multiple outfits for each section. cause i dont wear the same outfit everyday.
That's an amazing idea Molly! I'll definitely have to incorporate it more in my game. 💜

As for your ides, well I have used some of them in my game, I sadly have had to stop play with big families as I kept getting confused as to who was related to who and in regards to putting yourself in your sims shoe, well you can do just that with first person view, I think it is shift + tab and then you see the world through your sims eyes and this can make for some very “interesting gameplay”!! with and without mods.
wow i did NOT know that I could change the lot type to be rental in base game...! as someone who has none of the DLC this is amazing news to me; definitely building a rental lot soon!! thank you
I also thought it only came with Snowy Escape but it was actually added in a base game update! I hope you enjoy playing with the rental lots. 💜
I recently gave my favorite vampire sim all 3 control emotion powers, and 3 people died of anger. and since my sim finished the strangerville storyline I unlocked a mischief option to give random people bizarre fruit! It's quite hilarious and makes the game more fun.
I only use shell/unfurnished homes from the gallery and it is SO fun every time! So customizable and unique to each family
One thing I do more since watching your videos is switch to first person view. It really does put yourself more in the position of the sims. It helps to connect more.
I love the first person view too!! 💜

Oh wow!!! What are the next 10 if you don’t mind sharing?
@@Iamhannahd they’re kinda long to put in a RUclips comment, and I haven’t play tested them yet so there might be some hitches! When I get to that point I will probably post them and I will put a link here! 😊
Love this! One of my favourite things is to be an absolute drama starter. Make your sims roommates or partners have conflicting personalities, start chaos with one, try to fix it with another good Sim, love but also break hearts, Build but destroy dollhouses
Such beautiful and calm tips!! All your gameplays are so peaceful, love it ))
Thank you Eli!! 💜💜
What pose did you use in your thumbnail? I love it!
That can help a lot to not lose track about their personalities and what they "aim in life".
i love your calming voice, its not annoying at all!
idk why but i like changing my sims outfits when a sim ages up and a new season starts. i like to think a few years passed and mess with some of their features like they’ve aged a little as well. it makes it much more interesting to me
You are the one youtuber that I have found that actually gave me really good ideas, FINALLYYY! :)
I always do rotation gameplay when I play the sims 4 I honestly think it’s really fun and interesting
It definitely does add to the game! 💜
I tried doing this but my sisms kept not knowing each other even though I went to each other's houses multiple times. I got really annoyed.
2) In addition to your 'vacation' part - since this update I placed a vacation lot in every neighbourhood I could and often my Sims are only allowed to travel to other nieghbourhoods by going on vacation there, forcing me to properly explore the neighborhood I'm currently living in better
3) (kind of goes with number 2) I have my families actively impact what community lots will appear in my current neighbourhood.
I actually did this the other day with my sim! She's a Gardener and has Triplet girls so I named them each after a different flower
I personally have a plot line and I stick with it. I find that this makes the game interesting and I would definitely recommend it.
I looove rotational gameplay. It makes interactions more meaningful when you have a connection with all of the sims.
Awesome ideas and video! Thank you. I started the rotation sims yesterday as my 1st challenge
LOVE this video, can't wait for the stream tomorrow! 💜💜
Thank you so much!
I'm enjoying it right now
I really feel you ! The first advice was just perfect
I just started my first legacy challenge so I’m super excited to use these tips on my next gameplay!
Wow, I never rough about playing the sims from more households 😂 that's brilliant 😊
I love all these ideas! I plan on trying them because lately I’ve started getting bored w/ my Sims! Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Thank you Livia! I hope they can help make your game more engaging. 💜
I love the sims so much but I can never get attached to gameplay 😂 I can create the sim and style them to their personality build their house/apartment to them and still be like “welp I’m bored now time to start over”
I understand the struggle! Hopefully some of the ideas/tips can help you out. 💜
Your voice is so calming wow
I tend to always do things with them. Like a holiday but also especially with the parents I make sure they sometimes go on dates. And there they just talk and walk around looking at the place. I think it makes it more realistic to let them live rather than going at it fast
I feel like I’m gonna try a combination of these in so excited!! I’m going to play rotational (i don’t know why but I’ve never thought to do this before lol), also remake all my townies and houses, i love the rental idea and playing the way your sim would act as an individual. ❤ thank you for your tips i can’t wait to try out
My favorite thing to do is if I build a new house that house is obviously new and most times in real like you might get rid of some stuff you have when packing so I’ll decorate the rooms sort of empty and very minimal but over time I add so many different objects that fit the sun in their room to make it seem like they’ve actually been living in that room for some time
Advice, every time you get bored, create a wheel spinner and add things among time, from 'Go to the park' or 'get a divorce'.
These are some really good tips! Nothing too extreme, just a few small changes. I feel like that's all we really need
These are much better than my ideas of impregnating the entire neighborhood multiple times
I agree with taking the game slower. It tends to be more interesting and realistic!
