In this video we are going to Chunar fort. It is situated on Varanasi-Prayagraj Highway. Distance from Varanasi & Mirzapur almost 30 kms. Chunar fort timming 7am to 5 pm. Fort is 2070 year old. British Punjab Queen Maharani Jind Kaur was here in prison. The British Resident, Sir Frederick Currie, described her as "the rallying point of rebellion" and exiled her from Punjab. She was taken to the Chunar Fort, about 45 km from Varanesi, and her jewellery was taken from her. A year later she escaped from the Chunar Fort, disguised as a servant, and travelled through 800 miles of forest to ask for sanctuary in Nepal. She arrived at Kathmandu on April 1849.
