When I first started I picked mag and regretted it then I played rhino and Excalibur and while Excalibur has a good 4 his kit isn’t really good for most mission types but back then because I was new and my first was mag I had no real experience with a good frame for beginners that has universal use so if you just do missions that allow you to kill at your own pase nothing to protect or anything he is good mag is still not a frame I like even at mastery rank 30 BUT volt I didn’t used to like but now that I have certain mods and more experience I realize he is one of the most well rounded frames in The Who game so with the right mods he is the best frame for the base star chart however for late game content like steel path I suggest you play other frames that can tank but volt is easy to learn and well rounded why the other two are really not mag dies to easy and takes a lot of effort to master and and advanced knowledge of the modding system where as volt you can build with beginner mods and is easy to learn and is just a better pick unless you wanna spam a button then go Excalibur but if you wanna be involved but have an easy time learning I think volt is the best bet for a new player

Volts shield is easily the strongest ability when paired with his passive for early game. You can easily turn 100 damage into 1100 damage, paired with the shield if you land a crit that 1100 damage truns into 4400 damage (assuming the weapon has a base 2.0x crit multiplier)

A lot of Mag's issues can be solved by blocking damage. No for real. It's a novelty for a lot of players. They don't fully understand just how useful it is. @wolfhound146 Yes, in this game I fell almost like Jedi (probably was their intention), you can literally see and dodge majority of bullets, and of course there some blocking mechanics new players wouldn't know about, like 1 sec of immortality when your shield is broken. When you add bullet reflection from Mag, or shield from Volt, and stagger from their 1. and 4. skill, you are pretty tanky if you have fast fingers and have control over your spent energy. I die a lot though, so not me, I am slow.

Having started with mag, I quickly realised how versatile she actually is with basically just the first two skills of her kit: the pull has a MASSIVE angle and basically hits every visible enemy on screen while also grouping them together nicely for quick cleanup. And the bubble is an absolute weapon of murder against single targets both stopping them in their tracks and dealing great damage for every single projectile that enters it. It is also just so good for catching annoying flying enemies like dargyn, because you only have to get your sights on them for a moment to cast the bubble. And the other 2 skills are basically combo machines and great aoe defensive and offensive options. I love mag, even if I'm coping a little 😂

personally , mag seemed like a blessing for me . as it allowed me to just use its abilities of throwing around enemies and a fraggor that hits like a tank to take on higher level enemies , or in situations where i was simply out gunned .
a good example of this is when i decided to start the railjack quest
and i didnt have any good warframes nor builds at the time the first was easy , the second was a bit tricky but after 2 tries i got it
the third one ... was difficult it didnt have much cover and the enemies got stronger overtime + the sentients would realistically drain my entire shield hp pool in a matter of a seconds . so i basically stayed in one room trying my best to stun lock enemies and distract them as much as possible and when a opportunity showed itself i took it rushing out of the room and into the scanning area
after approx 30 minutes of doing this i cleared that monster of a mission
i believe i wouldnt be able to do that without the help of mags abilities
and besides i really adore any support frames that heal or buff and a frame like mag that requires a functioning brain to use properly
im not saying excalibur is a brainless warframe its certainly not . But the concept of using a warframe
like mag that can give me an opportunity to be creative with my combat , making traps . stunlocking
or making combo's with my weapons to push forward
    i adore that concept
also another thing about mag, the energy problem isnt a big deal for me as energy efficiency is a half decent way for me to handle that
although i did see an offer to get an aura that passively regenerates energy and i took it
i'd say mag is incredibly powerfull if you know how to use her otherwise its gonna be a real pain

I picked Volt as my starter and he's still my favorite frame. Shock isn't super useful but it gives a nice cheap CC, speed is fun and useful for reload speed and attack speed buff, but his 3 and 4 are where things really come together. I remember getting shredded when I first got to Jupiter and struggling with a mobile defense mission. The shield combined with his 4 damage and CC allowed me to break through. I also picked the bow to start so his passive worked perfectly with that. Volt's versatility is what makes him my pick for the best. Sure Excal can easily melt everything early game with exalted blade (assuming you have the energy for it) but Volt can perform well in any mission type and with any weapon. While I don't have a Mag, I can say that I haven't touched Excal in a long time while my go to for general play (leveling and star chart missions) is Volt...it could also be me playing favorites, idk...also doesn't help that I love electricity powers so the bias is definitely real...I also have 1000 hours so my "starter experience" is kinda hazy

As someone who picked Volt and still has his Prime now, here's how I see them:
Excalibur: Cool space ninja, melee focused which I love, Poster boy. (Easiest starter frame (Noob frame))
Volt: Cool electric boy, go fast, shield, utility haver. (Advanced frame with utility in later game content and great scaling)
Mag: Gravity mage, Never-ending skill level. (Frame with a really cool progression loop)
I'd love to be able to play out the first mission chunks with any frame, because seeing mag evolve from heavily limited to a monster would be really cool. That's definitely something I'd be interested in doing at some point on another account.

I started with mag and i struggled so much at the start but that made the game very interesting and rewarding in the long run, if i had picked excal the game would have bored me very quickly. I felt that shortly after getting rhino, the game became super stale and it was just a race to the evac in most missions. Press 2 and just run over everyone.
It was comfortable for the most part but i was learning nothing at all, i was just pressing 2 and running to the green button.
Mag made me explore and play the game more tactical, i feel that is very important for new players since you will never ever experience that again once you are deep into the modding section. The whole game is just becomes running to the green marker as quickly as you can.
As a new player i hated picking mag ngl, but as a vet rn, i would pick her 1million more times simply for the reasons mentioned above.

There's an argument to be made for getting Volt, not for any gameplay reasons, but because he's the only one out of the three who isn't unlocked through the star chart. Once you reach Phobos, there's a good chance you can farm up all the Mag blueprints within less than an hour because the Sergeant is a push-over. Excal is gonna take a bit longer because Lech Kril likes to waste your time a lot.
Volt on the other hand requires you to join a Clan, that Clan needs to have researched Volt and you will have to pay a bunch of extra credits to replicate the blueprints and early on, money can actually be quite tight.
Volt also has a clearly defined niche in Eidolon Hunts and Sanctuary Onslaught, meaning you'll want to have one, anyways.
Mag on the other hand is a much less popular frame and she doesn't have any unique applications though she remains a strong late game choice.
Excal on the other hand falls off. You don't really use him late game anymore and he's the most likely candidate for you to "grow out of". On the other hand, that also means that the early game is the time where you'll get the most use out of him by far, whereas later on he'd just end up as MR fodder.

Thank you for the video! It helped me decide with which one i want to start with, for what I'm thankful.
0:28-0:38 - Yeah. Pretty much that was the case with me. The only thing that i decided was to don't pick Mag. She looked way too boring to me, and thanks to this video I also know she is waaay too complicated.
So, I came here to get some better understanding of Excalibur and Volt before i choose one. I am thankful that you made this video in the first place, however you weren't much of help with "he got two skills that are pretty useless" bit about excalibur (at 12:30-12:35). You could at least explain how they work, so newbies (like me) wouldn't have to search for this information.
I will start with Volt. I don't like when things are over complicated (like with Mag), but I also don't think positively about "spam one button" stuff (like with Excalibur). Not too easy, but either not too hard. If i will suddenly want to play as a Samurai Jack with a bow, I will just get Excalibur.
Thanks again for creating this video, so newbies (like me) won't pick something they will get bored/angry at after first few hours.

I chose Mag as my starting frame and it's not as complicated as it looks. A lot of the early game is just pull and melee what's left. It can lead to some just doing only that, but I like to experiment. Lead me to some of the combos that Mag has. I've wracked a lot of kills with the barrier - pull combo

After the buffs the frames got both Mag and Volt are the better choices IF you get a little help getting some mods like fleeting expertise so you can use your powers more as both volt and especially mag are spammy power frames. Mag is almost broken though if you get some of her augments.
Also one of the worst things about excalibur is the tricky thing DE did with his slide attacks while using his exalted blade, where you use precious ENERGY up to blind enemies, which does not serve any purpose as you already drain energy to use the ability. The game punishes you for doing slide attacks as excalibur.

Making even SP mission enemies melt like butter.

Volt has recently been upgrade into a high-tier frame, and works good if you like DPS casters. His shields add survivability in defensive missions.

Most of the veterans with 5-7+ years on the game would say the same, if you are starting today in warframe, just pick Volt, that's not even a question at this point, having a favorite has nothing to do with the decision, you will have the others prety soon, so this choice alone will make the start be much more easy and also alot faster.

I started with Mag, their Kit was Really cool and Very Supportive in the right hands.
Hands down she's the Stealthiest Frame that doesn't require her Abilities For Dmg but can use them to make dmg Way Easier.
Plus Stealth missions early game are Way Easier when you use your Head, using a Codex Scanner to look through walls at Enemies and Security systems
Using Mag's Pull to Tear down Security Cameras through Walls or help with Blindsiding Wardens before using the Magnetic Hold to ensure Every shot no matter how inaccurate Really wreck them or Any strong Target.
And things like Highjack Missions can be a Breeze as you Strip shields from foes making them easier to dispatch while refreshing your own to keep things moving.

Now that I have a few months of gameplay and being advanced enough, I come with the conclusion about the three.
Excalibur: Balanced, good for starting players like the game suggest since his abilities aren't very gimmick.
Volt: Good but kinda gimmick, he become more relevant later in game with his buffs
Mag: Not very recommended to new players, she is very gimmick but can become much fun later when you have the tools and experience to know how to use her properly.

Excalibur gave me enough me mechanics to focus on and get good at (eg. movement, energy balance, game types, Modding ect.) before graduating to frames that are a little more dependent on the modding aspect that I was previously misunderstanding. By my estimation, Excalibur is more forgiving of poor mod setups and therefore by slim margin the better starter frame; serving as a sort of introduction to the complete insanity the is warframe (and I say that with the deepest love. Even Junction bosses are not safe from the terror of a bubble blender. That and you could select the kunai as your starting secondary as it’s a Bubble Blender lite until you get the Boltor.

I fell in love with her playstyle and mechanics as it's not as braindead as the other two. She is definitely my go to with high level opponents especially with her magbetize bubble. But as a Mag main, I'd personally say go for Volt if you really want to explore your playstyle.

Excalibur was my starter; and I still love him. However, based on my personal experience, while having Exca as first frame it gives you that "almighty" feeling that makes Warframe...Warframe, it's also a choice that kinda spoils you. Why?
Because there are not many frames out there that balance so well high DPS with good survivability and, when you start playing frames around, you really can't get that feeling again.
Mag and Volt playstyle resonated better with the late game frame-feeling and teach you earlier in the game to cycle through abilities in order to outperform the enemies, opposed to "press 4 then EEEEEE"...and everything dies.
Especially Mag, imho, better suit you up to understand later playstyles such as Octavia's, Baruuk's, Gauss', Nidus' or (especially) Equinox's functioning.
I mean, you can learn it after, but you'll never get past the feeling of "starting it all over", and the first attempts might generate (true for me, at least) big frustration.

Volt is just amazing and fun to play because of how all 4 abilities seem strong and are fun to use. Perfect for beginners I think because if you wanna be big damage magic caster you can mash ability one. If you like shooting you can use the shields, if you like melee you can use the speed boost, and it’s just more fun to me to be able to experience all of those playstyles on the fly on one character when you’re starting out and getting a feel for the game.

Volt is the best since he is an all- rounder and all of his abilities are good and have a use. The only down side to him is that he is not good in boss fights.

The reason I started with Excalibur was because I knew I couldn't aim so I focused on the one that melee everything, also another thing contributing to his appeal that he has something the other two don't have, an Exalted Weapon.

Mag is easily my favorite allround frame for endgame content. For early-game content and learning the game however, I recommend volt or excalibur more.

Yeah the energy problem hits hard on Mag in the early game unfortunately. Though with the recent buff to her pull she got at least a bit more viable early on ;)

I chose volt at the start of the game pretty much at random. I decided to buy Mag and Excalibur once I racked up some platinum (and some discounts). Out of all of them, I think Volt is the most fun one. AOE damage go brrrr.

As someone who started with Mag I find her to be a really good casual friendly frame to start. You dont really need her other abilities until a couple planets in, I rarely ran into problems that couldnt be solved by pulling in a crowd of enemies and just wacking them with a Bo staff like a big mob pinata. and she effectively shuts down early bosses and junction spectres with her second bubble ability until they simply ki- I mean "Destroy" themselves. You mentioned Excaliber not using two of his four skills, but I found Mag equally as simple 😊

I wouldve thought excalibur would be the worst mainly because not only is he not that cheesed compared to volt, but you basically get a better version of him handed down later in the game (yes there is mag and volt prime, but theyre still tough to obtain and crafting better excalibur for cheap is basically manditory to progress later, avoiding spoilers btw).
Volt for me though helped me get through the games junctions when i was a noob and didnt even know how to mod or get weapons properly and even now gets out of a lot of tough situations.

When first started I went with Loki during the OG times. Then after leveling him I used the heck out of Excal Prime, then I went for my soon to be best Boi Frost, I bought his Frost Prime immediately and main'd him for years. Frost Prime is still listed as my most used to this day.

Excalibur. But that's because I played DE's Dark Sector. And Hayden Tenno is basically Excalibur. And you can get around joining a clan by making your own dojo which is what I did. I played 215 out of the then, 230 nodes solo. I finally joined a clan after 3-4 years playing solo. It just takes the willingness to gather all the resources needed to build one. But I find it a lot more satisfying. I've since left that clan and am back in my own dojo solo.
Also, if you for whatever starter frame you choose, once you get out of the initial quest, branch out with other frames. I mained Excalibur for so long bypassing all other frames, at the time, besides Rhino that after six years of Warframe and 50 some acquired frames, he is still the highest percentage used frame. And trying and using other frames is what gives Warframe variety. And I have since enjoyed Warframe more because of said variety.

New player here. MR5. Volt is my starter frame. He’s a pretty cool frame. I can speed-run missions like Spy and Rescue. Gets the job done in Survival and Defense missions too. Equip shield, run around the map, use lightning. XD.
The only problem I have on him is clearing junctions. Some Spectres like Valkyr in Jupiter Junction(?) gave me nightmares. They were so hard to beat with Volt. I got stuck there for a couple of days trying to kill Valkyr. Can’t make any star chart progress for a while. My brother who’s MR15 said I should’ve picked Excalibur for his Blinding Skill. Then again, I already picked Volt and has grown to love it. I have other frames like Rhino and Frost but my favourite is Volt. I might get his Prime Version when I’m done with my Star Chart.

I mainly chose Volt because he fulfills the speed fantasy that I crave when playing games like Warframe. He is great at pretty much everything, whether it be crowd control, melee, speedrunning missions, nuking, and DPS boosting. He is great in teams, as everyone benefits with him around, and his versatility makes him a well-balanced frame at the start. My problem with Excalibur is that he really only has 2 abilities that are used. Beginners may not know this and try to use all of them or else they'll feel like they're missing something. Volt is a frame where every one of his abilities have a use-case, but unlike Mag, he isn't as energy-hungry. In my opinion, this makes him easier than Mag but harder than Excalibur, so you do have to think a little bit. In this, I believe that he teaches the game the best, as Warframe is a game all about buildcrafting, and Volt has tons of different builds and playstyles. All of the other things that were mentioned in the video are a plus. Volt challenges you just enough so that you're not left behind when you don't know what's going on anymore after Excalibur starts to fall short, while still being easy enough so that you're not overwhelmed at the start like Mag. In short, he brings you a smooth start to the game and transitions smoothly into later content. He isn't difficult, but he doesn't baby you either. Also, until you get an Archwing, OLL exploring open world areas can take a bit, even if you use the teleporters. He just has so many things going for him.

As someone who started playing the game recently again, I chose mag.
I had volt on a precious playthrough but playing him was difficult as I didn't know what all his stuff did. For me, he felt very useless.
I chose mag because of her ability to swarm enemies to a cluster and kill them instantly, that seemed like a good deal to me.
    I haven't regretted that decision
