BMW E46 330D - M57N engine sound idling

- This is a 6 cylinder inline diesel engine in a BMW 330D E46 from 2004. It has 204HP and 410NM of torque. The engine is not remapped and still has the EGR system. 6 new glow plugs + glow control unit. 6 new injectors. The swirl flaps were removed. The engine has ran 300.000 KM.

Loving it make sure you get it remaped those 150kw are different than 135kw with garret 2260 turbo...you Can have 270 hp easily without hurting engine turbo or injectors
I indeed would like to do this, but the automatic gearbox is rated for just 390nm of torque, the engine already delivers 410nm stock. I try to spare the the torque converter for as long as I can.
@@A.A1995 people have been mapping 30d gm5l40 trans up to 500nm and not have issues. The key is to have boost above 2500rpm. My e91 25d boost kicks in at 2350rpm even tough i have the standard gs6 53dz manual which can technically hold 650nm at 2000rpm, my tuner told me not to. Avoid low rpm torque maps

How long did injectors made it? Mine gave up at 309.000km. (One injector)
Yes same thing happened to mine. 1 faulty injector. We had all of them swapped for new ones . The other ones turned out to be okay after primitive leakdown test
@@A.A1995 Yes I did the same. One was leaking on return and I replaced all four (M47 110kw in E46)
@@A.A1995 What were the symptoms? I have no smoke, but the engine has some metallic clicking. Im starting to belive timing chain kit has to be renewed (350 000km, m57n2). Also i get rough idle especially when cold engine
@@PKperformanceEU Timing chain should be okay, lumpy idle issues on startup point to worn injectors, glow plugs or glow control unit. if you have an auto it could be the flex plate at that km. Said sounds also indicate that maybe harmonic balancer is on its way out aswell, mine disintegrated at 380.000 and ate up both drivebelts. If you haven't done already I would replace it as part of preventitive maintenance; you don't want it happening on the motorway since the harmonic balancer turns the waterpump and steeringpump too.
