Wolf is a truly awesome musician in his own right. A precious gift to us all. 👍
Wolf is such a nice down to earth guy. Great artist!!!!!
I'm old as fxxk. I can still remember my mate bringing in VH first album on TDK cassette in around 1979 to school and we debated whether the end of Eruption was a keyboard, or piano with some sort of effect on it.. We'd never heard anything like it. It was just ground breaking. Next to Hendrix, the most innovative, ground breaking guitarist ever.
Tdk was the shit!!... We couldn't afford them but my rich buddies all had TDK and it was the best
I am 56. I liked TDK esp the SA-X and MA-X but like you said too $. I used BASF and saved so I could buy Bubble Yum and Pop Rocks back then.
We all debated what it was. All I know is we were luck to have experienced that time. Big mouth Mikeys, roaches in the ashtray, 5 dollar table dances, big gulps, and Chicos Tacos on dyer, McRae, Montana, and Alemeda. Good times. All the jacks have been put away except, The music
@@danielabilez3619 ..well said brother
@@danielabilez3619 You're so right. Glad I was a Gen X, even though we're in the final phase.
That young man has it in his blood and DNA. We should have a great future of rocking music from WVH.
He's got the technical juice. All he has to be able to do is write material that's up to snuff. So far it's not been so hot, but he's got his whole life ahead of him and I can't wait to see what he brings on top of his father's legacy and builds on that.
I think A Different Kind of Truth is so underrated. I don't care when they wrote the songs, I love a ton of songs on that album.
Everything is underrated. Pop tarts, velcro, and originality are all underrated.
His marshall tones were the best .
My favorite Ed story about Wolf was when he said Wolf got in trouble at school for literally "Throwing a pumpkin" at his teacher.
Eddie's tone on ADKOT is my favorite.
Is the best Sound of Eddie ever had was with the Marshall.
live without a net tone 👌
Wolfe seems like such a cool, down to earth kinda guy.
Being comfortable with who we are ain't always easy for some people,
especially with celebrity status.
Much respect to his parents...
His dad was a drug-addict, alcoholic womanizer and his mother was also a substance abuser with affairs of her own. They were clearly woeful parents.
And you're perfect, I'm sure...
Mammoth WVH is already ridiculously good. Incredible debut.
Hell yeah!
Id love to hear this album with the Van Halen I guitar sound
EVH was the Hendrix of my generation. No one will ever come close!
He hasn't paid his dues yet
Agreed. He was the Mozart of a generation. 🎸🎸👑👑❤❤
The Howard Stern story is hilarious Jeremy… thank you for bringing that up😂😅 cheers - R
I thought it was classic! Haha
What a cool dude Wolfgang is
I love how Wolfy is such a nice guy just like his old man just a class act. I hate how people say shit like he’s living off the fame of his father these people obviously haven’t listened to his music he put the time in to be the musician he is and it takes a TON of time to get to the level he’s at you don’t just automatically become that good because ur dad is the best guitarist to ever live you have to work just as hard as everyone else ! To top it off just look at all the other kids that tried to follow their parents footsteps and failed because they didn’t put the time in it doesn’t matter how great ur parents were at anything ur not gonna have a real career if ur not good and Wolfy has a career because he legit is that good. He would be just as successful if his dad wasn’t Eddie.
Love what you do man. I'm a total fan. You make your dad and mom proud everyday Wolfgang. You are a amazing musician .
My first love..played every instrument and started with the piano… he dragged me to this music store for some cabinet..I didn’t know what he was talking about..5150 Cabinet it’s was 1996 or 97..$2,700 in the 90s was ALOT of money but I will never forget that sound. It used to put me to sleep..you could hear it down the street but I would fall asleep on the couch in the basement 15 feet away from that thing..I’ll never forget that sound
Eddie might have said that first record sounded bad...but that's not what I remember...I remember hearing that when it first came out when I was in the 6th grade and my mind exploding when the needle dropped on the record. No one had ever heard that before
He always said he hated the chamber reverb they added in the mix
Those difficult teenage years
Wolf is a great musician and singer. Seems like a really nice guy also. Just wish I could get into their music more.
The guy who just inherited a fortune says kids today are so lucky
VH 1 came out on my birthday in 1978. I bought it on 8 track and played the f*ck out of it on my portable player. At that time none of the kids I hung around with had ever heard of them. I wore that cassette out.
You can definitely tell a difference between a hot tubes amp and solid state circuit board
Holy shit! When Wolfe said “Oh! The guitar sounded like shit!” There was something about his facial expression and inflection in his voice that looked and sounded just like Ed! The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
Wolf, good luck man. My amps? I play it to the brink of blowing up.
There is a wall of 2" reel to reel tape floor to ceiling of Ed noodling & song ideas.
That's a fact.
They should re-record adkot now using the VH I sound and re-release that. Also our back the original lyrics for
Put out the lights &
Let’s get rocking
The old tone would have been much better and what we all wanted! The guitar sound off that album was the best ever and never had been replicated even with modern plug ins
Nice Jeremy!
Thanks bro!
What's funny to alot of us is that the first Van Halen album sound trumps anything Edward did with Peaveys, Soldanos, EVH's...yeah there is gain, but the Marshall still the Holy Grail rock tone.... for some of us. This is just subjective opinion.
Whats funny too is I used all the aforementioned amps, but once I bought a Germino which is basically 1968 super lead, I get bummed whenever I play modern preamp gain fizz machines.
Think I'm crazy? Listen to the first 4 VH albums.
My youtube channel has plenty of videos I created using that amp, and I still get kids asking what Bogner I am really using LOL
Yep, Eddies tone got worse as the albums progressed - less growl and more bite, just not very likable. Some of the tunes on VH are a little off though - dunno if it's tuning or worn out tubes.
Fair Warning trumps every VH album after
Love wold guitar playing
I have two amps love them
ADKOT had great songs on it -- a very good album - the problem was it was not recorded well - not mixed well either -- too bad it was not recorded as well as the initial VH albums were because the songs are good as are the performances
Ironic… as I just get on a subway as a kid is playing a Game Boy game on his iPhone….
The 5150 was the plexi just modded.Instead of screwing with a variac they built in a preamp stage basically so you can plug right in with no need for anything else to get a good tone. The less shit to set up the better.
Nooooooooooooooot even
You kids crack me up 😂
Heard one song off adkot i like and the rest are eh.
Well, I guess here we go to you tube howard stern
Why go back to that old tone?
Because it's such a revered guitar sound that countless people all over the world spend tends of thousands of dollars in a never ending quest to replicate it? He's got all the gear, so why not throw it together and see if it'll work for the new music? Knowing now that ADKOT ended up being the last album, I think it would've been cool to have a song recorded using that rig (or as close as he could get today).
Because it was so much better. Organic, the EVH crap has so much gain it's gross. Edward lost a lot of his hearing and usually that screws up your tone. I love a sweet ass Plexi, and will spend 10 grand on a clean original amp. I wouldn't spend a nickel for the new EVH amps
@@babydaddy1930 enjoy wildly overpaying for vintage gear when the modern stuff is a LOT better. 5150iii 6L6 is one of the meanest guitar sounds on the planet!!!
@@Mossy5150 lol an EVH is way better than a 67 Marshall Plexi said no one ever unless you're chasing that elusive guitar center tone.
@@babydaddy1930 “elusive guitar Center tone” lmaaoooo fuck ur a prick 🤣🤣🤣
Looks like his old man:)
I guess you are releasing more from this interview?
Here ya go! Hope ya subscribe 🤘🏻 ruclips.net/video/MUCiCL2gxNs/видео.html
Really wanted to like his music...sad that i'm not into it.
The guitar on VH1 "sounds like shit?" WTF??? What's all I need to know about the someone's opinion. Fuck some grunge guy's opinion about the ICON of tone! No one even comes close to Eddie's tonal ear and his guitar tone.
I've got a EVH 50W head and cab. I'm not a great player but I can confidently say that if you can't get a good rock guitar tone/sound out of that amp, you suck.lol It may not be the best, but it definitely can rock and get the job done.
The 5150 is a cheaper Soldano SLO 100. End of story😅
Get your own identity.
Get Ed’s amps and make your own tone with it! 🤘🏻
Ok
Sorry but the tone on ADKOT was not good .
Eddie was going deaf. The 51503 sounds like shit compared to the peaveys and Marshall’s.
I dont give a f..k what this dude says
He looks like he delivers food, i dont get it
Nepo
If it was not for Eddie big Wolf would be a nobody he is living off his Dad famous name!
^^^clown alert
@@thinkbigreunion -The true hurt? U know I’m right clown 🤡
Wolfgang is not the guitarist Eddie was, but I feel that Wolf is more talented overall.
Stop lying Wolf! Give it up ya big goof!!
i never got why people wanted to sound like other guitarists i love randy eddie page iommi angus but i dont want to sound like them
Eddie being a tone chaser is such a stupid statement. Just shows Eddie wasn't too bright in some areas. First album had the best guitar sound ever! They ( vh) never lived up to the greatness of the sound of that album ever again. Even the songs were never not out matched.
Wow. This may be the least popular statement on the internet.
I wish my guitar sounded that shitty.
Don't get me wrong, the EVHIII is an amazing head. I'm more interested in how long he played the Soldano.
