I think having Kool and the Gang would be great. It's been amazing how the cruise lines started playing this great 70s and 80s music. When I started cruising 25 years ago they only played music for old people.
Safety of all onboard is critical. Kudos to the Cruise Line and those responsible on board. Around the world including in the US there have been extreme weather challenges -- doesn't matter the size of the ship. Ever been on a crossing from Europe to Ireland, Don? It can be very challenging in so-called Normal weather. Travel depends on many "beyond control" events; time to understand travel does not come with eerything guaranteed to be "perfect". I was on a Norwegian Panama canal cruise back in 2022 that was cancelled the day after departure due to an outbreak of COVID amongst the crew members. The ship departed at 6pm and turned around by 10am the next morning, headed back to Miami. Once they announced the outbreak, everything shut down! Casino, all shows, activities and all dining except the buffet. The worst part is once we got into port, we could not get off the ship for THREE DAYS! Due to a U.S. Customs and CDC issue. Fortunately, because the cancellation was ultimately issued by the CDC, we received full Refunds and 50% off & free internet on a future cruise if you booked it while we were still on the ship. As a bonus, we ALL got off the ship with COVID!!!
It was a short cruise and they have to sail down the river to get out to sea. They were going to Amsterdam, they’d have to go through the locks. They’re probably closed from the North Sea. Absolutely the right decision, It’s been terrible here. There were two very large ships in Southampton due to leave Saturday, they were 24 hrs late and left yesterday. Those ships have 7 m swells going down towards the Bay of Biscay. It’s very bad on there apparently.
Thank you, Don, For all the good information. Yes, even though I would be a little board staying on the ship but in my opinion Safety comes first. Very interesting with all the changes coming from NCL but they must think these changes will be for the Good.
Galveston would be a hard port to be stuck in for drinkers. The alcohol menu is quite restricted while still in Texas waters, and the drink package would not be turned on because of state laws.
This storm that's hitting us at the moment is definitely what we might call 'a bit blowy'. It started on Saturday and it's now Monday and we are still being battered around the country. Unseasonably cold weather hit dumping many inches of snow all over the UK, then it rained with the rest being severe flooding and unfortunately the loss of life. NCL, I'm amazed anyone still travels with them these days, it's just about bad news every time they are mentioned. Way too risky to book for me.
Ambition is not a small ship, granted she isnt like some of the .behemoths sailing these days but she is a fair size. The Port of London Authority closed the river hence all sailings were cancelled. Passengers were given the option of disembarking but only around 200 did so.
I would be disappointed if the ship didn't leave port, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I presume the shops and casino wouldn't be open. I wonder if the passengers were allowed to go ashore?
Hi Don I don’t think it is necessary to have a big party on those ships people get drinking, and loud and out of control.if your not American it would be annoying because other country’s don’t care.hope they reconsider, that kind of nonsense.
Staying safe is much better than being in a severe storm.
it also gives you tons of time to explore the ship.
Tony will be so proud of you because you actually sang lol. Good job!

As a lover of sea days, I would be the first in line to book a stateroom.

A lot of info Don thank you for the great video ❤

Wow what a considerate “gift”!
Personally, I think the dining room is safer than the buffet.
The biggest scam in history
I'd be afraid of booking anything with Norwegian at this point.
DON, YOU NEVER NAMED THE SEVEN CARNIVAL SHIPS THAT WILL BE IN THEIR NEW GETAWAY FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY!!!!
Safety first, always.
It was a short cruise and they have to sail down the river to get out to sea. They were going to Amsterdam, they’d have to go through the locks. They’re probably closed from the North Sea. Love following all your announcements 😊you make me feel safe.
A 3 hour tour
Short sailing, I'd rathrr stay safe and sound. I would make the best of it. That 4th of July party would be a blast.
7 carnival ships at the same location, sounds like fun to me. lets go!!!
At least we are safe! 😊
What a crazy turn of events, to spend your entire cruise in port!
I wish I could do a world cruise. Sounds fantastic. My plan is to touch all 7 continents. That would definitely make it more interesting
That 10% most likely will not come close to covering the price increases for the future cruise the you might book. NCL the BOHICA of cruise lines.
That's exactly what I was thinking. 20-25% FCC would be more appropriate IMO.
Don you and Tony from La Lido Loca need to sing together next time you go cruising together.
Thank you, Don, For all the good information. Yes, even though I would be a little board staying on the ship but in my opinion Safety comes first. Very interesting with all the changes coming from NCL but they must think these changes will be for the Good.
"Celebrate good times, come on"
Galveston would be a hard port to be stuck in for drinkers. The alcohol menu is quite restricted while still in Texas waters, and the drink package would not be turned on because of state laws.
celebrate those times
Seven ships at one location sounds like quite a lot of people trying to use the same facility.

7 ships in one place like that? That sounds like wall-to-wall people and not a lot of fun.
They is only one original member of Kool & The Gang still alive and he’s like 75 years old. There is only so much parting he’ll be doing.
I thought Norwegian Jade is repositioning to San Diego
Be like having 3 sea days.
I can't see booking on NCL, all the cancellations = no trust. A 10% cruise credit isn't even remotely enticing.

the last cruise was during a hurricane made 1 port out of 3
Don Norwegian cancel cruises and give you 10% future cruise credit. But it will cost you 25% more for your next cruise at today prices.
NCL remains on my Do Not Sail On list. There planning department is the worst of all the cruise lines.
Seven ships together? Sounds crowded.
Not looking for a party ship. Looking to relax. I could go on a cruise to nowhere. I would like to leave the port though.
Is 10% FCC proper compensation? I think not…..Seven ships filled to capacity, all at the same private island, sounds exciting but too crowded.
Wouldn't be going far.Id rather stay in port than be in the rough North Sea.Enjoy being on board
I would be disappointed if the ship didn't leave port, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I presume the shops and casino wouldn't be open. I wonder if the passengers were allowed to go ashore?
😮
Hi Don
Ncl we cancelled well we can sell ship make 35% more screw off
I'd much rather be safe in port.
Hi Don I don’t think it is necessary to have a big party on those ships people get drinking, and loud and out of control.if your not American it would be annoying because other country’s don’t care.hope they reconsider, that kind of nonsense.
The 4th of July is an important celebration in the USA and for those who don't celebrate it they can stay away from these cruise ships.
I don’t care about thanksgiving in the states I’m not American
Not booking with NCL
10% is insufficient s/be minimum 25%
Nobody has ever been stranded at a Holiday Inn. Just a reminder, cruises are not much different than taking a vacation in a cattle cart.
Did you miss the pandemic? There were plenty of people stranded in hotels.
@@Reed-2big The low end(Beer guzzling) cruises are fun one or two times. Then it's time to upgrade a little.
@ There are also those who think camping is a Holiday Inn!!
To me you can beer guzzle regardless of where the ship is!
