Great video,I was born in 1958 in Trafalgar Avenue just off Old Kent Road, moved to Manaton Road Peckham when I was around 4 or 5,played out all day,we made our own games up and went in when it was dark, happy days, kids today don't know what they missed.
I was not even a teenager at the start of the sixties and I was an apprentice engineer before the end of it and I still think it was the best decade I've ever lived through. I enjoyed my childhood in the fifties but everything seemed to get brighter and more colourful when the sixties came I agree it wasn't perfect but it was better than the following decades
@@AnnabelleJARankin a little rose tinted. I love old classic cars and in some respects they were simpler but the engineering quality and reliability was much more inferior than today.
I love London so much! I lived there in the 80s for 6 years - what a wonderful time in my life! it was incredible! I love watching vintage videos of the 60s in London - I love the era I was born in! I am a mod! and sometimes a rocker! ;) I am feeling so very nostalgic these days, and am starting to make digital all of my prints from those days! It's quite a lot, but I am beginning now and will make some memory videos like yours! Cheers!

Hiya chaz,to think All those baby's in their prams at the beginning of this video are all the same age as me now! Scarry man! Lol, great quality film footage mate! Love the soundtrack to this vid. Wayne Fontana's cover version of major Lance classic" um um um um um" awesome tune! We are the mods!! Even my pram had 6 mirrors each side of its ,a row of headlights, chrome wheels, and a half inched rolls Royce lady stuck on Top of the pram hood! No wonder me mom called me baby FACE!! 😂👍👍🛵🛵🛵
An interesting opening Car Shot - I've not seen a stretch(ed) Ford Anglia before! What an interesting Coachbuilders project that must have been - I wonder if the vehicle is still in one piece?
The Autobuffet at Charing Cross, the dayglo dyes in some of the headwear, the FX3 cab at Vic. The doors open and everyone off, of all slamdoor arrivals everywhere. The lovely tarmac concourse at Waterloo mainline, uncluttered save a smiths stall. Grand stuff, I’d love a day wandering round the London terminii if it could still be like this.
Grew up in the 60,s, best school days even school dinners, kids always outdoors playing, always seemed to be sunny maybe that's just me being sentimental, happy Days when the people I loved were all here. Adiós amigos.
Happy. healthy children playing outside, loved the big prams, the one with the twins in,now sat in stroller facing the sun an wind, who thought that was a good idea,
I was singing this song this morning would you believe!!! Your videos are fabulous. thank you for the time and effort you put in to them.. Does anybody contact you because they have seen themselves on your videos.
yes it's always fascinating too read from views of their lives in detail, I love to hear from every one of them or their families and appreciate every one's comments on how they remember their precious memories with all of us, that's what inspires me to try and make another video, still got tons of footage and photos to sift through, I always have a certain song in my head, then take it from there when the right time comes along, I never plan any of these videos, just let them happen.
Lovely stuff. I was born in 1950 so this is just my era. The videos are really good quality, not yer handheld fuzzy 8mm shots like I used to take. Did you shoot these as a pro, or do you just have access to some nice archive footage? Look forward to seeing more! Thanks!
am not a pro at all had this footage on back up external hard drives, got thousands of hours ofa archived material from way back in 2006 then you had a free internet super high way before the stuffed suits started messing things up for everyone now you get 20,000 music companies claiming my originals vinyl as their music copy right am loving the nostalgia it's bringing back good memories for a lot of people, that's the buzz for me, am glad I have kept the footage. All the very best,
One can see that by the sixties ordinary folk were pretty well fed and clothed. The welfare state provided orange juice and Marmite for mums. Can't get much better than that. We mustn't let it go !
We didn’t worry about what we wore, or if we looked fashionable, our mums dressed us and all we wanted to do was go out and play, no worries, just hoped your best friend was out there too. Kids are SO stressed today, but that reflects modern life I suppose.
Sweet! But if you were in low paid jobs life was tough, much tougher than today. Millions of people lived very frugally, and in poor housing. Millions had no central heating, unlike today's rather pampered Gen, and millions didn't even have a phone at home!!!
A phone ? No way. Unless I'm wrong they were more expensive then in real terms than now, as with many manufactured goods. Outside W.C. Cold tap only. Eventually a fridge and TV about '60 or so. But, loving parents, good community, well fed, healthy, many friends.
Hope you're well , are you on fb or got an email, would like to hear your take on what's going on, You're a wise man my friend. It's Jim Cowcaddens btw. stay safe mate x

My youth: London in the 60's and 70's. Man, reminiscing is sad but good at the same time.
One of my favorite eras...especially on the British side!
Hey! Look no mobile phones just people talking and kids playing. I was a teenager in London in the 1960's.
Fab life we was fit children out doors all the time great video.
Thanks, it brings memories (and tears).
I wish I could experience life in the 60’s-70’s. I listen to rock from this era and it’s amazing. Im 31 btw now.

What a fantastic video, things a lot simpler then.London has changed so much and not for the better I'm afraid.
Excellently presented and sound track.
