Alvin, congratulations! You are doing an excellent job with your playlist videos. They are full of insightful ideas to dive deeper and improve our skills as project managers. Thank you so much! I’m currently studying a Master’s program in France, and I’m preparing for my second year specializing in Business Engineering. I really appreciate the way you speak and explain everything so clearly. I’m from Colombia, and although my English is not very good, I’m working hard to improve it. On another note, what kind of software do you use to edit your videos? You’re doing a great job! By the way, I’m currently applying for an internship position at a consulting company that works across different markets in Europe. I hope to receive their answer soon. Thank you again!
@jetienlaparole, I'm so happy to hear that you're finding my videos helpful! Also, nice work with your Master's program in France, with Business Engineering! I am using Final Cut Pro on my MacBook to edit my videos. When you're just starting out, you can use other free software that's available (iMovie, DaVinci Resolve, VSDC Free Video Editor, etc). Best of luck with landing your internship position, you got this!
I'm considering going after my PMP, if I can fit it in while raising 3 kids. Been managing projects for a few years, 11 years experience in local government. Now I'm managing a $2.3B infrastructure project for local government. Getting $117,600. Thanks for the video.
That's awesome, Matthew, and that's a really great salary especially with managing projects! Keep it up, and I know that you once become a Certified PMP, your salary will only keep increasing! I highly recommend becoming PMP Certified, and I have a ton of other videos on the PMP Certification on my channel you can check out
@michyy125, really glad that you found it helpful! I'll definitely add this idea to make a future video about a day in the life of a project manager, stay tuned!
I have been managing IT projects as "stretch objectives" in my current Business Analyst role for 10 years now. I received my PMP yesterday and I hope to find a PM role within my organization to gain additional experience with an actual PM title before looking for a new job. If I am unable to find a PM role at the company where I currently work, I will be forced to look elsewhere. However, I feel my earning potential would be higher if I were leaving with a PM title, the PMP certification, and over a decade of experience. I have been at this organization for 15 years and the thought of leaving is scary. Yet, I know I am not properly compensated for what I bring to the table, and this is a $9B company medical device company that can definitely afford to pay people their worth. I am excited for what the future holds either way!
Anything is possible, and you can ABSOLUTELY do it!! Use your PMP Certification, your BA skills, and your transferrable skills, to land a PM role in your current organization. I believe in you!
It will happen for you. I stepped into a PM title at $150k. I have my MBA and PMP and now looking at $160k. It's mostly about timing and being the one pursued.
I'm really glad I could give you value in the video! I'm all about transparency, and I wish I had known this about salaries when I was starting out in my career. Just knowing the 'baseline' will help you so much when you're negotiating salaries or qualifying for a promotion
@@alvinthepmofficial most definite we live in the world full of gatekeepers when I’m reality being transparent can open up opportunities for you as well! Definitely would like to keep you update in my PM journey if you don’t mind!
Thanks Julia, really glad you found the video helpful! Stay tuned on my RUclips Channel, as I"ll continue to post more videos on how to break into the career of project management!
That's great but that's NYC. But that's like $80,000 to $90,000 everywhere else. NYC is one of those exception regions he mentioned early in the video like California.

Great information...
Really glad you found the video helpful!
do you recommend developers making over 100k switching to project manager roles?
Both are very good career paths, and it would all depend on what direction that person wants to steer their career towards.
In my company 120K earns... tadam tadam... Administrative assistant. (NYC) I'm not even joking.

i don't know of anyone expecting 6 figures at entry level PM. Maybe Gen-Zers do, but haven't passed my gossip sensors.
@@BobWileyAKA52Blue Wow! great for you. Hope everyone else is as lucky as you.
