Playing this game for the first time two years ago was one of the best gaming experiences I had had in a very long time. Honestly the first 20 minutes of this game is a masterpiece of horror. The slow building sense of dread, the rain and thunder, Mia disappearing and reappearing, the chainsaw...dang. It’s during these times where I wish I could replay something again like I never played it before.
This game really scared the hell out of me. Seeing the Molded in the boiler room for the first time gave me PTSD. They don’t make to much noise , they just come for you. Being in the save room allowed me to catch my breath but I dreaded going back outside because I didn’t have any bullets to deal with those things. It’s been 3 years since I beat this game & I’m playing it again for my 2nd time , this save theme means even more to me now that I revisit it. I’m very excited for Resident Evil 8 , can’t believe Ethans story is coming to a close.
The end of the salt mine was the thing that made me scream the hardest in this game, molded is one of the scariest things ever, the thought of them coming to kill you slowly is scary enough.
Resident Evil 7 is such a somber and melancholy experience overall and this theme itself captures that feeling of sadness really well. The Bakers never wanted to hurt anybody, they didn't ask to be the people who antagonize you throughout the game, they weren't always like this. They were good people - victims - caught up in this whole mess because of Eveline. The Bakers were good people. And I feel like this song captures that feeling of "We/re sorry. We never meant for you to get caught up in this. We never meant to hurt anybody" If that even makes sense? Idk that's just me
My feelings also. Its like a deep, dark apology and slow hum of torment - it reminds me of the moldy domain in which the Baker's minds were 'trapped'- black, lethargic, whispering for the release of death
Lewis Castillo you couldn't have explained this better. I was thinking the same exact thing. The music fits so well with the atmosphere and emotion of the people in this game.
And even then, it's hard not to feel sorry for Eveline. Sure, she took over the bakers and did very horrible things. But she just wanted a family. This is all because of some horrible weapons program that forced everyone in this situation into roles they didn't want. Eveline aged VERY quickly, so it's even sadder when you could say that she lived her whole life without a true family. Jack himself even feels sorry for her, explaining to Ethan that "She just wants a family". The whole story is very tragic, so this and the piano version fits very well into the somber mood.
Bullshit? Eveline had the mind of a ten year old girl. You give a ten year old girl the power that Eveline had and you put her in the psychologically damaging enviroment of a lab where nobody gives a rat's ass about her, and then you say "oh, but they're justifying murder". It was horrible, Ethan was right in stopping Eveline, but that's not to say that you can't feel sorry for a kid without a mom and dad? The company in charge of making Eveline wanted results no matter the cost, and the cost was Eveline's sanity. But I'm just excusing a serial killer right?
This helped me through many hard times, my life isn't going too well but whenever I'm sad, I just imagine myself in this room. Sitting, with this eerie but calming music, and listening to the rain the and thunder. It's beautiful really.

"Out there you'll face horrors the world has never seen, but in here, you're safe. A separate dimension for which no harm may be done, but you will eventually need to leave this domain."
They knew what they were doing when making this track. There's always a time and place to know when you're safe. Stuck in a house with an infected insane family, and with a bunch of molded creatures after you all the time. It's moments when this track plays upon entering a room, that you just know you're fine and that nothig will hurt you. Just right in the game. RE7 is a fkn masterpiece imo. I love everything about this game
@@AdamGilbert5530 I was actually hoping he would be with Rose like Booker was with Elizabeth in the Bioshock Infinite Burial at Sea DLC. A hallucination of a troubled but powerful mind.
I felt creeped out every time i went into a save room, the feeling of relief but knowing outside that door there’s more terrifying things to come and it felt amazing.
This game has to be THEEE WORST in the series. "Taking resident evil back to it's roots" The people turn into worm monsters that talk? Wtf? The house turns into. talking monster? That's not resident evil... this song isn't bad though
When I listen to this, I imagine Ethan sitting down in a chair, pouring some first aid over himself, reloading his guns.... Maybe letting himself cry for a few minutes, wondering if he'll get out of this alive, if he'll ever see Mia again. Before getting up, taking a deep breath, wiping away the tears, and going back out into the nightmare.
Noel I can imagine Clancy breaking down, but Ethan was pretty resilient. He’d maybe have a moment of doubt, but he never really let his emotions overpower him
RE 7 had one of the best save room themes in the franchise. It fits so well with the game's setting and it stands out from the other save room themes. A true masterpiece I think.
I love this theme. This game launched on my 26th birthday. I was losing everything at the time, but id just sit in the save room listening to this lost in thought. Not my favorite RE title by any means, but this game was there for me in a very dark period of my life, so itll live in my heart forever.
That’s great that it could help you like that 🙏 there’s certain games that are just there for us at the right time in our lives, I remember making this before the game came out as I was watching all the trailers non stop and just loved the look of the game I knew I’d love it when it came out and when I heard the save room theme I thought I’d make an extended version randomly, as that’s not normally what’s on my channel or the kind of videos I make, it really blew up, and I hear all sorts of amazing stories about how people find it calming or it helps them sleep or get over things, it’s amazing what music can do 🙌 thanks for sharing and for watching 🙏
Imagine Ethan just sitting down in a rocking chair, adjusting his arm staples, and gingerly sipping a cup of first aid juice. All with the patter of raindrops and distant sound of thunder accompanying his drink.
Unfortunately theres a portion of this fandom that thinks this game is ass because of first person and no past RE characters besides chris at the end. Fuck those people, this is the closest we ve gotten to the series roots since re0. Its obvious everything about the baker mansion was a homage to the original resident evil, and i adore itbfor that. Limited resources, item boxes, limited saves (in madhouse, love the tape recorder in place for the typewriter btw) exploration emphasis, and a remarkable ost. This save room theme being up there with REmake and CV
It's not an ass game, it's just so different to be in the main lineup of games that it feels weird. I thought it was a good game but Chris looks and sounds like shit at the end of it and the DLC for the game was awful. RE2 remake proved that 3rd person over the shoulder is the perfect way to play RE. Smoothest controls out of the whole franchise.
I agree with everything and I’ll add that the atmosphere and story are the best in the series. Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Louisiana bayou is genius, and getting the writer of Spec Ops: The Line to write the script was bold but definitely payed off. I thought the 2-Make was the best game this year but the dated story and weird dialogue just made me miss this game even more.
I noticed the sound frequency matches the same range you can find in "sleep music" videos. Certain frequencies help calm you down. It makes sense for the safe rooms to have this for players, especially when things get overwhelming. Clever move, Capcom!
just bought the game recently during the big in Japan sale and I got to say, when I entered that save room for the first time and this theme played, I came straight to this video. love this theme
@@plsmaurice5549 got it on the sale about a week or two ago, already beat the game three times. Once as normal, the next under four hours, and last on nightmare. I still can't believe Capcom made such a definitive improvement over 6.
That Guy I remember I got this game at launch, and I remember hating the second half of this game on my first play through, mainly because I got stuck on the birthday puzzle for hours before I finally conceded and looked it up, and it left a salty taste in my mouth. But I came back roughly a year later to replay it, and I enjoyed my second playthrough so much I ended up platinuming the game, buying the DLC’s and beating them all, all the DLC’s are great as well, however the one where you play as Zoe in the family home before the little girl arrives to mess everything up should’ve been in the base game.
This music makes me sit down and think about how my beloved series has come along , Remembering taking down the tyrant in Re 1 , G in Re 2 , Nemesis in Re 3 and then going into the "action" era with 5 and 6 then coming back to horror . We've come a long way
This will always be one of my favorite songs ever. It’s so relaxing yet fits the atmosphere of the game so well. God I love it. It’s also just one of my favorite games ever. Everything about it is just 👌🏻
The first third of this game is honestly the best gaming experience I've had from the current generation of games. It really took me back to the golden era of video games.
Me too. It is a masterpiece. At the very end when the sunlight is coming in and the house is falling apart, and Jack is talking to Ethan.. it gave me so many emotions. 10/10
If you are a fan I'd really appreciate it if you could check out my review I just released on this entry, ruclips.net/video/9O1bl9gnnfc/видео.html thank you
ill never forget re7, it was one of the most important releases in the franchise history and personally. This game single handedly saved the Resident evil franchise and not only brought us a new trilogy but got us the long awaited remakes of the original trio and hopefully some of the spin offs in the near future. it was an incredible game gameplay wise and symbolically.
idk why but when i listen to this and close my eyes it takes me back to days that i miss but i never really understood i was missing them until i heard this and thought about them if that makes any since
This game is a fucking masterpiece, most first person horror games are trash except for Outlast, but Capcom came back from the dead to honor this beautiful franchise
Nah this game was even worse than 6 for me.It had a much smaller story though it was more incoherent. The protagonist seemed to be tank and was emotionless so I didn't care for him, the Bakers were annoying instead of being scarry or creepy. The enemies were tedious. In RE 6 at least there were moments that I enjoyed I couldn't find it here apart from this amazing sound track. In 6 the cutscenes were amazingly written and performed as well.
@@Nathan-Croft Play the game in VR on madhouse difficulty. It is truly a master piece. The game was a bit too easy on the regular difficulty without VR for me, but madhouse difficulty feels challenging and unique. It also makes the game a bit more frightening because you can't constantly save whenever you want to and there are little to no auto saves. Dying is punished. VR really puts this game over the top. Obviously like any scary element in a movie or game, it becomes less scary the more you play it, but to me, the game became a lot more fun once I was able to get used to the fear of running into an enemy when I wasn't expecting it and not having to clean up afterwards :/ lol I'm just about to beat the game for the 3rd time (Normal w/0 VR, Normal w/VR, and now Madhouse w/VR) and I'll probably play it a 4th time to get whatever leftover achievements there are that I missed :P
@@ShadowvailYT my brother has the platinum trophy in it but he also doesn't like the game very much.Yh maybe it's a better experience with Vr and gets scarry but I still can't look over the protagonist and the antagonits personalities
@@Nathan-Croft Fair points. I can relate to that with some other games. For example, a lot of people LOVE Final Fantasy 8, but I cannot stand the characters in that game haha
CastlevaniaDude yeah absolutely cannot wait ! I wonder if it will be a new score or just re recordings of the original ? certain music from RE2 just cannot be topped, if I enter the police departments main hall or a save room and the music's different I don't know what I'll do lol
they had a save theme in one of the gameplay demos in ign. he turns on the light in the room and the song starts playing. its kind of similar to the old ones, but definitely not the exact thing.
Will you lay down and wait to die, or will you fight against impossible and horrifying odds, even after everything has been taken from you? I think this may actually be the theme of this game. Ethan pursues someone he thought was dead, and as soon as he finds her she’s more or less totally gone anyway. You get to the save room and it’s hard not to think “why should I even go back out there? What’s the point?” The only thing pushing you forward is the will to live and a glimmer of hope that maybe, somehow, the person you love will come back to you when reality is screaming and shouting at you that she cannot. This game shows you that survival is, in itself, horror. Just insisting on living is the scariest thing you can do, but that’s what being alive is all about. You try to grasp onto people and things and tell yourself they give you the reason to keep fighting, but when those things fall apart or run away from you, you have to be brave and keep living until you can build it back up again and it’s scary being alone like that. I think the lesson is you can find strength in being your own reason to keep going. Not that loving and depending on people and dreams makes you weak, but that inside you is something that you can always fall back on. Tldr you have to love yourself and fight for your own future even when it doesn’t seem like you have one
Beautifully said. Genuinely one of the most coherent youtube comments I’ve seen, and I got to read it while listening to this masterpiece play in the background.
I think the main theme of 7 and 8 is family. In both the games, Ethan is going through hell for sake of his family while facing off against another family albeit, a gross distorted version of one. The idea is to have love for your family as a harmonic force that gets you going during loneliness and life's struggles. Both Eveline and Miranda tried to have that comfort but they ended up creating more sacrifices and destruction in name of family unlike Ethan who did the opposite by sacrificing himself for his wife and daughter.
This game was my favorite RE game. When I was playing it actually creeped me out. I usually never get creeped out by games and stuff but this game terrified me
I made a little compilation from my let's plays and watched my part 1 of resident evil 7 and the beginning hour demo, forget what an amazing game this is sometimes, but watching the game back it just brought back all those memories of how happy I was with it
@@waled7rocky I couldn't agree more, it was an amazing game, even though it doesn't look like a resident evil game (like re4) , resident evil in my opinion is re1, 2,3, 0, code Veronica.
It's incredible how I can just sit on the balcony, smoke the occasional cigarette and let the atmosphere soak in over the entire length of the video. Thanks a bunch for that bit of quality time.
The only RE game I didn't play..... until today. I didn't like the first person idea at all. But as I started playing I got used to it almost immediately. The scariest for me for sure and will remain one of my favourites. Can't wait for RE8. Gonna get that Deluxe Edition.
There is something so peaceful about this theme, especially with the storm in the background. I listen to it every night when I go to bed, so relaxing and perfect.
Fr bruh the fact that they were genuinely nice people who just wanted to help a little girl but ended up killing themselves in the process is depressing asf
And to think hundreds, maybe thousands of people who have been infected by the Progenitor Virus, Queen Leech, T-virus, G-virus, NE-alpha parasite, Las Plagas, Ouroboros, C-virus, E-type Mold, Mutamycete, or the Cadou were mostly normal, nice people minding their businesses before being transformed into something else and end up getting killed by the main character.
@Megan Todd Is there a single person that actually liked or felt sorry for E-00 at all? I didn't. Regardless of its treatment (and it wasn't treated that badly) as an experiment, that doesn't justify its extreme cruelty and disregard for human life.
I only played this game on VR when it came out, so hearing this theme after such a long time gives me such a strange feeling, like I was actually in that gross, terrifying world at some distant point in time, and my memory of it is just hazy. This game fucking rules bro.
Re7 got me back into the franchise. I remember being young and terrified to play the original directors cut of re1. Watched my dad play it multiple times. But I’m almost 30 now , I beat 2-3 remake and I’ve beaten this one 3 times or more, I think this is the most I’ve been excited for a sequel, (re8) I cannot wait to finish Ethans tragic story. Poor guy has gone through some shit
This is amazing The combined effect of rain and thunder with the melancholy but relaxing music really makes you think 'I'm safe here, i should stay' but the melancholy part is your realisation of the fact you must venture on to save mia, and the poor bakers, with whatever equipment you can find. It lays a heavy, depressing feeling of realisation of what has happened to people before you, and how you must set out back into another crooked house, full of maniacs and mouldy creatures. This is by far the best theme in resident evil 7. It is the best one, because of the vulnerability. For example, in re 5 and 6 you had a partner to help you and huge guns, but now, you are armed with a spacer ammo supply and small weapons. The bakers are seemingly invincible, and much stronger than you. Imagine how Ethan must feel-his wife possessed by a demon and having his hand chopped off by his love. Also, this is the best resident evil, because of how you DONT want to play it-it is make me you feel like Ethan himself, who wants to stay in the safe room, and not go out into the horribleness of the bakers. So yeah, if you read this comment, thanks :). I just adore this theme and wanted to share my thoughts.
Everyone is a victim, here. Ethan, Mia, Zoe, Lucas, Jack, Marguerite, & Eveline. They were all troubled by something at one point or another, & ended up in one Hell of a fight for survival. Eveline became a victim through what Umbrella had done to her. The Bakers had become victims because of Eveline's actions, while Ethan & Mia were thrown into this mess at the worst time. Bad situation, all around. Very emotional. Great work, Capcom. You've outdone yourselves.
@Radical Larry I usually read a lot of books and play electronic games to be able to forget life in the vague moments, nights tend to be more difficult because my thoughts become more agitated and confused about what I lost in the past and what I will gain in the future. Sorry for my bad English. I'm not an American, but I'm happy to know that someone so far away from me can empathize and help others deal with difficult times.
@Radical Larry I am from Brazil and I study English independently, one day I want to visit America to visit some cities like NY and Los Angeles. Keep it up, buddy, the world needs more kind and caring people like you, unfortunately I don’t have many friends outside the internet to talk and talk about the things I do so I make friends through games and social networks. Nice to meet you on RUclips.
Tfw the save room is falling apart and you can see the through the cracks in the boards to see the area where certain death awaits. It's such a feeling of insecure security.
This game came out right around the time the love of my life broke up with me. I can remember playing it alone during a heavy blizzard, feeling completely despondent. Flash forward a year and a half later, replaying this game with my brother and fighting back tears and hiding my feelings of intense grief from him when this theme kept coming up.
I hope you learn to associate this game and theme with something else than that break up. From my experience it never completely leaves you but it will kind of slowly fade away to a point where you will be once again able to enjoy RE7 (and life) without the grief and melancholic feelings. All the best.
I know how you feel dude trust me, the love of my life that I was dating for 2 years dumped me back in January and to this day the pain still lingers in my conscience. I've learned to go about my day but the memories follow me around like a curse I loved her so much but she wasn't the one that's what I keep telling myself, no matter how much I thought of the good times we've shared
i love this, it feels like a small pocket of sparse comfort in a terrifying place. A candle in a pitch black room. Good for recovery after a horrible day in a long line of horrible days. There is a beautiful yet cold comfort to it I cant quite describe but I crave that feeling.
@@Chayse9134 Uhhh.... he was psychotic before being infected. Do you not remember he trapped a boy who had bullied him at school in the attic, leaving him to starve to death? They said it in notes in the damn game. So no, he was not "somewhat of a good person" Lol
Chayse the streamer He murdered a kid. Horribly. If you see good in him... man, that’s says some interesting things about you. But whatever man, you do you I guess.
I hope re8 is similar, even if it isn't a first person experience again. Although there is a higher scare factor when you're running around in first person, and at any point a monster could round the corner and hit you for a quarter your health. God mad house was traumatizing
Yeah Madhouse Was a pain, worth the Infinite ammo though for future playthroughs, the mutated jack boss fight in the barn towards the end took me so many attempts
Resident Evil 7 is easily my favorite in the series, even if I’d say 4 is the best from a critical point of view. The Bakers, the old-school gameplay and exploration, the genuinely horrific moments mixed with the insane camp from previous games, it all blends to make one of the best games of this generation in my opinion. This was the start of CapGod’s return, and I’m so happy they’re back.
Ω SirFlank Boring Ω it’s not, but it’s great. The story is ok, it doesn’t need to be a mainline RE game. The enemy variety is shit. The enemies are boring and annoying. It’s very difficult to dodge around the molded because of the damage they do and how big they are. The zombies were built like you, but had arms reaching out and were terrifying in big groups, but the molded block every tight corridor(which there are many that have them), deal intense damage, and are bullet sponges. The puzzles are fine. The gameplay is great. The bosses are cool. The VHS tapes are cool the first time and annoying after that, but you don’t have to view them so it’s fine. I love RE7 and I think of it as a crazy ass retelling of RE1, but that’s just the feeling I get from it.
People say that this theme is relaxing but I saw it as the feeling of slowly slipping into insanity because of the bakers family. Your in this madhouse filled with completely insane people and that insanity is slowly taking a toll on you. Every time you enter the safe room you feel safe but you know that every time you do, you come back with less and less sanity. I feel like that "but at what cost" and insanity feeling really fits this game for what it is

I'm just so happy the Resident Evil franchise is back on track. The revelation games gave me hope, but after RE7 it's all been amazing games and DLC.
7 DLCs were great, the best season pass of all time
I love the game, the campaign stayed true to the legacy of resident evil, but the DLC was truer to what Resident Evil has become.

@egowinters exactly how I feel. I get memories from 2017.
When I listen to this, I imagine Ethan sitting down in a chair, pouring some first aid over himself, reloading his guns....

@@NoxMonstrum tbh i prefer 1st person if it's not fixed camera angles
James Bartolomeo 4-6 were too different as well, they’re Resident Evil by name only.
I think the Resident Evil 2 Remake was a better interpretation of the roots.

Bravo, that was very encouraging
😌❤️

This theme really makes me feel sad for the Baker family...
The Bakers are some of a few villains in video games I take no pleasure in killing
@Megan Todd Is there a single person that actually liked or felt sorry for E-00 at all? I didn't. Regardless of its treatment (and it wasn't treated that badly) as an experiment, that doesn't justify its extreme cruelty and disregard for human life.

4 and 7 are some of favorite games ever, and to see 8 being an insane and creepy hybrid of the two has me so god damn hyped.
I most certainly 100% agree
This is amazing
The combined effect of rain and thunder with the melancholy but relaxing music really makes you think 'I'm safe here, i should stay' but the melancholy part is your realisation of the fact you must venture on to save mia, and the poor bakers, with whatever equipment you can find.

The Bakers, the old-school gameplay and exploration, the genuinely horrific moments mixed with the insane camp from previous games, it all blends to make one of the best games of this generation in my opinion.

Resident evil 7 is just perfect, I can't say why, but it is.
This song made the safe room calm but also unsettling.
@Kyler Rodgers I wish I could give you a medal for that comment.
I feel like that "but at what cost" and insanity feeling really fits this game for what it is
For me this song is represented to the fate of baker family.
