HP ProBook 6555b take apart video, disassemble, how to open disassembly

  • Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your HP ProBook 6555b laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
    Have fun and good luck!!

Being a Motorcycle mechanic for over 30 years, I'm really baffled at the laptops today. I waatched a video just now on disassembling my HP Probook S Series and it taught me the quesstion of why does fixing these computers costs so much so I know I will try this rainy someday for myself. Thank You Tube!!!

Hello Mark Eichenlaub , I would say first off all there are so many people who really think that if let's say it does not turn on - all data is gone. And this is not true, but people are different. Some technicians are greedy. Some of them know that some laptops will have something else broken inside besides actual reason of repair. Something like that.

I'd like to say that I do appreciate the note and your absolutely correct and we need to not trust just anybody in general. At least I don't because I've been burned hard more than once you know. Can you agree? So just want to say thanks for your interest in the subject. I by no means qualify as an expert in computing, just know how to SCREW one up. Mark in Dayton, OH...

even us techies have to look at these vids when were working iwth unfamiliar laptops, i work mainly with Lenovo laptops and the older IBM (before the buyout). so i dont know much about HP this was realy helpfull to me when i watched it thanx.
HOWEVER i must point out that an antistatic band is only good if you ground it to an earth yours is not therefore it is renderd usless people using them please make sure you ground them to....

    Awesome video @regazz,
Just an Fyi guys, you can reuse the screen from a hp probook 6550b or a 6560b and install it in a 6570b or vise versa. they're interchangeable and will give you the same resolution quality. Trust me, I know.

Unfortunately GPU is soldered/glued to a motherboard. So it is no.
Sometimes, if the same model of a laptop have some more expensive style, than it is possible to upgrade a GPU by upgrading a motherboard (of course you have to make sure it fit and that everything will work finally) but this will be a lot of money...

You never took out the CPU just the heatsink. I am playing around with the idea of upgrading the CPU on my probook 4530s it has a G2 sockcet Type i3-2350M. I am trying to see a video of the CPU coming off after taking off the heat sink does it just go into a normal socket like a desktop and screw into the motherboard or do I need to do some soldering?

I can see the four little tabs or whatever as clear as day and have pushed them all down but after that how the hell do you actually take the keyboard off?
You made it look really easy but all I've done is pop two keys off (near impossible to disassemble the front of a computer without making that mistake).
I think I see the border around the keys and I need something that can fit in the cracks and pry that up but still I'm very confused.

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  Год назад

First of all make sure you unscrew couple.of screws holding the keyboard. After that I would try to use some plastic flat tool to lift a keyboard a bit in the middle. Something like that it should work.

@@regazzz Oh I see now there's three screws on the back that go to the keyboard with little keyboard logos and a arrow pointing at the screws that show that but of course I never knew what those were 🙄 thanks.

    Hi!
I've got the same laptop. It is possible upgrade CPU on it? Now installed an Intel Core i5-520M i want upgrade it to i7-x. Which sATA port has revision 2 or 3? I'm thinking upgrade HDD to SSD. How much RAM that model can have on the board? I read about 8Gb, but saw some comments about 16Gb.
    Thanks!

Hi man, I don't remember exact bit set name, but I used mostly one bit out of it, some thin philips bit. It was some Husky bit set. The drill is just a regular hand screw driver Skill, but at some point I tried a little Bosch screw driver and it was much better because it had removable battery. The yellow screwdriver tools is Stanley, again do not remember exact model, but it comes in a box of 5or 6 screwdrivers.

+regazzz @ 14:11 Don't know how you removed the speaker bar connection so easily. I was doing this last night and it just would not disconnect and annoyingly the red wire has broken off the connector. I've managed to solder the wire back on but I'm not 100% sure it's good. I could order another speaker bar with connector but have you got any tips on getting the other one off mine just will not unclip from the sound board.

Thanks a lot for putting up this video. Recently the CPU on my probook became faulty and then I replaced it.
The new CPU was running hot (65 degrees C) even at idle usage. After applying thermal paste generously on the CPU it has come down by 10 degrees, but I'm still not satisfied as the fan keeps coming on very frequently.
Also I can't remember if the northbridge and southbridge chips had any thermal paste or thermal pads, and I couldn't see it in your video too.
But according to the 6555b user manual, "Thermal pads are used on the Northbridge chip and the heat sink section that services it." and "Thermal pads are used on the Southbridge chip and the heat sink section that services it."
Any advice on if the Northbridge/Southbridge chips need any thermal paste or pads? And if there are any special techniques to fit the heat sink in a better way to reduce the CPU from heating up so much?
    Thanks in advance.
