I don’t believe in evolution, or hominids but still it’s definitely a survival gene. I believe it was created by God to know when something is wrong. Mainly when detecting dead bodies, demons, or maybe some extinct animal that used to hunt humans. I’d prefer not to think about the last one 💀.

A personal theory of mine as to why so many people get creeped out by this, is possibly because humans through millions of years of evolution we have adapted to use our senses our sight being one of those primary senses. Now I believe people see things like this as creepy is because it looks human like at a distance we perceived it as human but upon closer inspection we see that it's not human and a tiny little piece of our brain screams "this thing is just pretending to be human it's a possible predator!" Like how some species of animals evolve to look like their prey as a way to lure them in close to attack and eat.

It is just basic psychology. Humans don't like things they can't completely recognize. Then there is also the fact that there are reasons people find smiling creepy for instance. In almost ALL other apes, smiling is an insidious gesture that means you are about to fight whomever you are smiling at as it is basically the equivalent of giving someone the finger. Things like that most likely lie dormant in our instinct and make us wary as to protect you from those looking to harm you.

I read somewhere that it may have come from an evolved instinct to avoid dead bodies that contain diseases. My favorite theory for the Uncanny Valley is that at one point in time in the world there were aggressive creatures that used mimicry to attract their prey & humans had to evolve to spot the difference between real humans & mimics. It couldn’t have been Neanderthals because there’s evidence of us cross-breeding with them & I personally don’t think it applies to sick/dead people because in my experiences I don’t get the same unnerving feeling witnessing those as I do seeing something like this. I think this instinct came in handy during our early evolution when there were several species of human like hominids
I don’t believe in evolution, or hominids but still it’s definitely a survival gene. I believe it was created by God to know when something is wrong. Mainly when detecting dead bodies, demons, or maybe some extinct animal that used to hunt humans. I’d prefer not to think about the last one 💀.

A personal theory of mine as to why so many people get creeped out by this, is possibly because humans through millions of years of evolution we have adapted to use our senses our sight being one of those primary senses.
Now I believe people see things like this as creepy is because it looks human like at a distance we perceived it as human but upon closer inspection we see that it's not human and a tiny little piece of our brain screams "this thing is just pretending to be human it's a possible predator!" Honestly that makes a lot of sense and it's probably the simplest explanation out of the ones I've heard, but I personally find it more fun to think about the more terrifying idea that there was something back then that tried to look like us 😅

My favorite theory for the Uncanny Valley is that at one point in time in the world there were aggressive creatures that used mimicry to attract their prey & humans had to evolve to spot the difference between real humans & mimics. It couldn’t have been Neanderthals because there’s evidence of us cross-breeding with them & I personally don’t think it applies to sick/dead people because in my experiences I don’t get the same unnerving feeling witnessing those as I do seeing something like this. It’s just so interesting to think about what could’ve been out there in the ancient world that was so heinous we had to develop an entire system in our brains just to protect ourselves from it.
Yeah I'm sure a lot of things are interesting when thought about with a child like imagination. Like yeah them skin walkers was really spookin my ancestors. Wonder how they went extinct.
