Hi. I just wanted to say how much I am really enjoying your videos. I'm just getting back into music after taking a break to raise my kids. I also really appreciated the openness of your birthday live stream. I'm by no means a a big RUclips watcher - but your videos are changing that. Cheers. James
Well sir, I've been interested in MIDI for a while and now that I've needed to live in a nursing home, I'm finally sold. I need to in this to help me learn music theory. Great video series you've created here.
I like how this controller has touch strips and not wheels. Just adds a little more space when packing it rather then things (the wheels) sticking out. Also, nice review!
That's a fun little unit. I have a 25 key controller, but am thinking that with a couple I could set them to different octaves when I need notes in the bass. So... I guess I need it! Thanks
Great little keyboard it seems. Good for mobility and playing in the park! Maybe not as the main keyboard for in the studio. It seemed a bit of a hand twister to press the shift and use the other controls. Might have been nice to make a sticky shift mode.
Well spotted! Actually its fine, but what you couldn't see was that my arm was going between the legs of my camera tripod at rather a strange angle - so I couldn't use in the normal way. Without that, its actually fine for me.!
Mike, great review. I saw one of these in my local music store but it wasn't connected to anything so I didn't have a chance to try it out. I'm glad you spent some time on the expression and modulation pads. My one regret is you did not mention how the keys feel.
I guess solid is the word Jim. Springy, but not too springy. I think they use the same key bed on all them small keyboards. It was the thing that sold me on it. It's all very well being portable, but not if it doesn't feel good!
I am Nikki from India. Your channel is my only inspiration to start a home recording setup. Recently i got a laptop with all of my savings. I don't really know how many more months it would take to save again and get a midi. I WISH & HOPE I WIN THIS GIVEAWAY. PLEASE AND THANKYOU.
Hey Mike, another excellent video! Thanks so much for all your time and ingenuity. You’ve helped me work through cakewalk and get a small studio set up. I’m talking “small “! A keyboard is the one instrument I don’t have and this one is small enough that I might be able to fit it on my “desk”. Being so portable, it would be perfect for when the band is able to get together after Covid and lay down some tracks. I don’t see the link for that iPad connector, can you please reply with that? I hope you are doing great, cheers, Kenny
Well you've certainly answered that question. I keep getting ads for it and I was wondering why I need it. Shamefully I never looked, but it appears to be a great portable keyboard.
Hi Mike, I love your channel. I have a question about using arturia's V collection. I demoed the sounds and I want to have access to more plugins, like synths and pianos on my daw(cakewalk) . Do you know if I would be able to use the v collection software for my arturia mini labmkII while recording on cakewalk or would i need to get something like abelton live , studio one? I just want to be able to use the arturia v collection for its beautiful sounding synths. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Hi Mike, thank you again for your very useful videos. I have a question about that Midi keyboard: is it really velocity sensitive and replicate a soft piano hammer percution sound, as opposed to lowering the volume of the velocity? This is important for me as I bought the last mini Yamaha PSS- A50, which sounds very nice, and has 4 velocity options, yet none really replicates a soft hammer strike. it s something that is more obvious and needed when for example striking the same chord 4 times in a raw, wanting the first strike, "piano" while the 3 after that "blend" softly with a legatto feeling rather than 4 "cut" strikes. In other words, replicating the fingers going on the "floor", then lifting halfway, without losing contact with the keys, so the next movement keeps the next triad chords much quieter. On your video it seems that you were able to replicate that, but I'm not sure if it sounds like this because of a lower volume velocity controle ir the actually hammer soft striking effect. If it's the latter, I won't even wait for the chance of give away, and will just buy it. Plus their DAW might help me stopping having conflicts between Cakewalk and Reaper. ( I've been getting a nasty Larsen sound type, on both and I m fruit to figure out what s happening, if you hat that before I would really appreciate some tips. Thank you very much again for your support.
Hi David - I did some testing for you. actually its very sensitive. I was even able to register presses a s low as '1' for velocity, quite evenly all they way up to 127. So no issue there.
Excellent. Thank you very much for that information. I forgot I sent you a question, meanwhile I have looked into a few options with the same type of sensitivity , or so it seems. ( Nektar impact GS, M audio axiom air 32, one called the Alesia V25, with a review claiming that it is close to a weighted keys feeling. I have to choose now. :) The other Arturia ( bigger keys and pads) seems good and with a bundle of software too. I think I want to use a software that is as intuitive and good as cakewalk but won't crash on me. And with Cakewalk I'm having some strange noise on the violins VST. I have made a search and it seems it happens in cakewalk and not in others. Plus I haven't been able to open Melodyne for some reasons. Thank you very much again. All the best to you.
I like tiny stuff like that. I need a good travel keyboard and a travel guitar. Because soon im going to be moving arround allot with my stuff. I dont wanna bring my xbox with me, I wanna bring my live music with me instead :D
Hi Mike, love your videos. If i plan to use virtual orchestral effects would it be useful to buy Arturia or its better to acquire something more expensive?
I see. Well, in honesty, I think you would be better with a 61 note keyboard (maybe 49 if you really have to). The reason is, that many orchestral libraries use key switches. These are keys, usually in the lower end, which control articulations. This makes orchestral instruments more expressive, and therefore more realistic. Having said that, on a tight budget, when you cant get exactly what you need, use what have to make music!
Hey♥️I’m a beginner and i'm starting with music production with absolutely no experience and i was wondering if u could help me with a little confusion i have with the choice to make between the m-audio code 61 and nektaar imapct lx61+!!? It'll be really helpful if i could get some suggestion on this confusion! btw I'm Really rooting for the Keyboard for the giveaway♥️♥️♥️♥️

This has hands down been the best channel for learning to mix and use plugins.
That'd fit super well inside of my minimal setup! Very well done.
Man! I wonder what mechanics it took to make that keyboard so multi-faceted to use! 🎹🤯

This is very nice for small desk setups and beginner bedroom studios.
Absolutely!

Looks great mike. Looking forward to seeing cubasis also 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ooh! Nifty! I passed over this a couple of times. Think I'll take another look. Hope yer well, Mícheál...
I almost got this one when looking for a portable midi keyboard! I ended up getting CME X-Key, but would love to add this to my arsenal as well!

Cheers Joe. Yeah, it kinda surprised me this one. I didn't expect to like it - but it turns out to be quite an addictive little thing!
Thanks for the tutorial, keep up the good work
Cool... count me in
Of course! Hope you are fiddling well :)

Awesome review sir, I really need MIDI keyboard to create beats. Hope I win the giveaway.
looks like a great audition keyboard to supplement an 88keyboard
Wanting!

I know. You only have mention things these days and you'll see as everywhere for it!
Thanks for the video!
Hi Mike! I would like to know if the MicroLab works well with Cakewalk? Thanks!
Great video😊

Are the midi functions working with iPad? Also is Analog Lab sound library accessible on iPad?
So, the best thing about this unit is the way the usb plug fits so snugly into the case?

Hi Eduard, what kind of effects are you thinking of?
@@CreativeSauce Mike,i want to write an orchestral track with free orchestral libraries.

The 26th! Ha! I'll be a year older by then. 😁
NICE :)
Nice video Mike. Maybe someone can help me out here. I've been told that Micro and Minilab don't work with cakewalk, is this the case? Cheers
I'm using the MINILAB mk2 with Cakewalk with no problems. I love it!
Yes, I've just tested, microlab works very well with Calkwalk.
Is it possible to remove the microlab's case?
Does this work with GarageBand?
Anybody knows where do we get Studio one for free( without infrengment)? Thank you
