- Throughout the years we have seen many teams surpass regular season expectations. Just this past season the Diamondbacks made it to the World Series, in 2019 the Nationals won it despite being being below .500 for portions of the year and the Minnesota Twins who were coming off the heels of a 78 win season in 2018, won 101 games the following year. Becoming one of the most unlikely juggernauts in recent memory...

The 2019 Minnesota Twins is my favorite team of all time, the most fun I’ve ever had watching baseball. It sucks the short playoff run, but don’t let that take away from just how good this team was. Because damn they were good, the bomba sqaud will live on forever! 😁
Those bomba boys were unbelievable. Every single guy on that team mashed it must’ve been fun!
It was a special time being a fan for sure
He didn’t fit the Bomba Squad narrative but a key part of that team was the unexpected arrival of Luis Arraez. Schoop got injured and they promoted Arraez straight from double-A, then he had a .399 OBP and 124 OP+ in the half season he played
I'm only now realizing how much the 2019 Twins season had in common with the 2022 Vikings season.
Exactly! Especially considering how both teams exceled with 1 run and 1 score games
The Twins were known to blow teams out here and there with those 5+ homerun games. The Vikings did not blow anyone out after week 1.
@@pveqnrt I thought he was commenting on how well they did during the season and then choking in the postseason. And I am a Twins fan!
My favorite Twins team until *maybe* 2023. The vibes and playoff success were better than 2019 last year, but the 2019 team was during a time in my life where I had not much going right and was home all the time instead of going to high school; *and* that also meant I watched every inning of the season, something I only did again during the shortened quarantine season.
To be fair, 2019 wasn’t a full anomaly. They were rolling in 2020 (short season), then were injury riddled and sold guys in 2021, which lead to tanking August and September. 2022 again had injury issues, but much less of an excuse, then 2023 they bounced back to run off with the division.
That was a great year. The Bomba Squad remains my second favorite Twins team of all time. The Little Piranhas still hold that title, but childhood nostalgia will influence me there.
This team was so fun to watch everyday
Thankfully and more importantly the MN playoff curse is over. I was at the game when the Twins finally won a playoff game.
Now starting the season 2-0, Wolves at top, and Loons at top :)
And the Vikings potentially landing their next franchise QB! MN sports are looking up after being mediocre at best for so long.
Love your work dude, always high quality
With consistency this channel will blow up. Keep going man!
I went to 13 games at Target Field that season to watch them play. Enjoyed every game, but I wish they won the WS.
Great video, Buxton and Kepler seems to be the only guy left from this team
love the editing bro!
This video was a great wave of nostalgia
I was only 14 during the season I remember going to a couple games and just the excitement every time a home run was hit and the pole in right center would show how many home runs they had on the year. And the sounds of the crowd
Best memories i have in target field come from this season, other then joe mauers last home game ❤️
As a twins fan i miss those days 😢
Nelson Cruz was hammering that year
Going to that opening day game in 2019 was awesome. Wouldn’t have thought that team would break the HR record
The part about Rocco Baldelli 😂
Gotta talk about the 2021 Giants idk if it was 2021 but whatever year they randomly won 107 games
It was 2021! That team blew past all expectations…
Jolly Olive made video on that a couple months ago
I'm hoping the 2024 braves can finally get the single season home run record after tying it last go. Ideally we'd also bring home a world series title but i'll take one or the other
That sure was a fun year !
Feel like you should have mentioned the massive shift in league wide ERA with the two years being compared at 12:15. Those balls were juiced.
The problem wasn't that the team just fell off the face of the Earth. Like with most things, covid killed this dream team. They had like 95% of the guys for 2020 (And won the division) but COVID destroyed all momentum and killed the season which meant we didn't get to keep Cruz and co for the comeback in 2021. A lot of 1 year options for 2020 that wasn't a "year".
I went to a home game in 2019, best game I've ever been to
as a Twins fan, I'm surprised that Buxton didn't injure himself making the catch at 4:10
I remember most mornings when I sip my bomba squad coffee cup😊
The Twins didn't even get a 30 home run season during the steroid era, but they made the most of 2019's home run environment. What a joy to watch that team was. Anyone who complains about "too many home runs" is an asshole.
Fun regular season for us. I’ll definitely remember them fondly. Also Minnesota isn’t a city lol
I was there for game 162. They might have won 101 games, but my Royals walked them off to prevent it being 102 😎
Haha that’s an awesome game to go to!
Unpopular take, if a manager is managing a honestly mid team and there’s no success, It’s on the front office. However u the manager is able to produce a winning team with a mid line up I think all of the success is due to the manager plugging in prices when he needs to.
I was at the last ALDS game in 2019 against the Yankees
My dad and I were calling the Braves last year the big boppers. I don’t know 19 twins were called that
Did anyone else noticed how he described the team at 11:35? Or am i trippin?
It makes a lot of sense. We play in arguably the easiest division in baseball so even with the changes it’s still more games against easier teams than the Braves would get. The Twins are good but in the AL East we wouldn’t stand a chance
I wish Miguel sano wasn't so injury prone one of my favorite players to watch hit
being depressed sucks big fat 2019 twins W's
Seems like they hit a lot of solo Home runs. How do you hit 31 homers and only have 61 rbi? Can someone get on base please.
2022 mike trout
It happens quite a bit
And Kep is the only one still on the team
Buxton
The Giants?
Killed us in the playoffs this year...
ROYCE LEWIS
Definitely not the most recent unusual 100 win team, 2021 giants
Aaand now we suck again
Just for Another Alds loss 😂
A juggernaut doesn’t get swept in the ALDS.
You’re right definitely not a playoff juggernaut.
Give credit to Jolly Olive. It's obvious you stole the title from him and the video concept from him.
Edit: My apologies, ig I wasn't paying attention.
Yup. You werent. But before I truly paid attention. Permissions may be given pre-emptive...or retroactive....
I think. I'm not a legal expert.
All good.
Juiced ball and easy division.
It's true. That team is kind of overrated. I think the current Twins are better
@@cheetofingersbumcurrent twins have a chance to stretch it out over a time period where that team was a 1 year wonder
You forgot to mention the Braves tied the record in 2023. Since this video’s from 2024, I’d expect that to be noted.
The ‘23 Braves also broke all of the “team with lost 20 HR seasons, 25 HR seasons, 30 HR season”.
I guess you can say the Twins hold the AL record.
If you want followers and everything that comes with being a RUclipsr (fame, money, eventually the luxury of no BS job, crazy networking etc), you have to be razor sharp when you first get into this game.
I meant at the time. My apologies I should have made that more clear.
As a Life long twins fan, I had to dislike the video. You failed to mention Odorizzi, and scoope wasn’t really a good player for us. This was the season that Luis Arraez broke out and replaced scope down the stretch, Sano was not a leader of this team, this was eddy, polanco and cruz. Garver wasn’t the starter either till mid season, Castro was in a 1:1 rotation with him
Nobody cares
Juiced ball or not, Garver was out of his mind. He didn't qualify because, not enough games or at bats, whatever. But if you look it up by guys with atleast 300 plate appearances. Garver had the highest ISO with .357
