I can't think of a more fitting vehicle than an Aston Martin for this part of the world. Classy, refined and downright gorgeous. This car combined with the breathtaking scenery of the Highlands truly is something special.
@Valkyrie 007 hypercars are dumb, there’s no hypercar, just high tech super car that are in different price brackets, in the 70s/80s/90s there were already 1000hp cars, but they were not called hypercars, it’s a dumb name and comparing cars with such a big price difference is the dumbest shit i’ve ever heard
@Valkyrie 007 Lol. Ferrari could easily make a car that could compete/destroy the Aston Martin Valkyrie/AMG project 1. Ferrari is a company, and they will do what is financially and/or socially attractive to them at the moment. When Ferrari made the Laferrari along with the Mclaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spider, where was the Mercedes hypercar? Where was Aston? The One-77 engine made less horsepower than the Laferrari from a bigger V12 lol. And btw, the Valkyrie is a COSWORTH engine. Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motor sports, and unsurprisingly, Ferrari has the most titles in history due to the brilliance of their engineers, drivers and Enzo Ferrari (even though they suck now due to current rules favouring Mercedes). Also, you comparing the Valkyrie to the SF90 is laughable. The SF90 is a luxury car with a real interior. The Valkyrie is a literal race car. And the production version is nowhere near being done....
James I have driven those roads to Fort Bill many times and they are epic. I plan to drive up in my DB9 with my mate in his Virage when its permitted. To me the DBS sounds better but TDF is bloody wicked. Great video sir well played
Yeah, much welcomed content as we head into lockdown on Friday. Missing the hills. Next time you pass Tyndrum - try the Real Food Cafe - order from the car - fish n chips behind the wheel 😱
Unpopular opinion. If I were completely disregarding the value, with the TDF being a lot more expensive, I would definitely take the DBS. The DBS is just so seductive. It has to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Not to mention, the manual gearbox. V12s are a dying breed, especially manual ones. Surely the DBS is set to appreciate in value.
Wonderful to see these V12 GT cars enjoyed in such an amazing part of the world. Different eras of course, but who cares when they both make you smile. Don't forget to remove fuse 22 on the DBS if not already, improves that exhaust sound greatly. Consider putting that DBS grill back to stock Silver too. Have fun!
Great vid mate, I'm fortunate enough to own a DBS and cannot say enough good things about its design, style, sound etc etc! I've not driven the TDF but I'd say DBS wins here (not biased, honest!).... It's a proper GT and I'm now inspired to take it on these roads for some fun! Keep up the great work mate
Great content, both gorgeous cars.... Of the two it would have to be the Aston, the deeper burble is far more befitting than the manic shriek of the Ferrari. I also think the Astons of that era are still some of the most beautifully styled cars ever made the DB9, DBS, V8/V12 Vantage all future classics. The scenery though is spectacular and well worth the effort to get there.
Great Filming Sir, The roads up there are fantastic - I did the top route via Durness last year in my DB9 Volante, now I've got a DBS Volante your video makes me want to do it all over again....... especially after this lock-down years limited my day trips...... Please keep posting to keep the winter blues away
I ended up buying a DB11 instead of the DBS... now I wonder if I made a mistake. I still have my '06 Vantage for manual shifting but man that DBS looks awesome.
@@oscartejura4887 I do love the DB11. Might be my favorite car in my collection if only Aston would have gotten the traction control right. It just spins the rears if you put your foot down.
Fantastic to see you giving both these cars a good run. So many sit in garages not being used. Came through this road in Sept, Green Welly was a bit busy. My 2017 4.5L Twin Turbo V8 Land Cruiser doesn't match your two dream cars 😎🤩but what roads and views, amazing.
Great film @mrjww - haven't had the pleasure of the TDF but am lucky to own an AMR Rapide with a slightly modified version of that wonderful 6l NA V12. The thing that strikes me about the Aston is it can do Jekyll and Hyde, the shouty side of its character is nothing like as extreme as the TDF (although the 4 pipes on the AMR defo help) but it does the GT wafting so much better when that's all you want. That TDF sound epic though, the downshifts are something behold!
I am glad the TDF didn't go anywhere, that is literally the perfect spec. Keep killing it james, when I come from Australia to the UK I would love too meet you mate. Obviously when the world is safe to do so lol
This content is unbelievable the scenery the shots the editing really is amazing. For this trip as much as I love a Ferrari I'd be in the DBS more usable if you can call 550 brake usable on a road like this mated to that manual box it's heaven. What a car.
James! I love the channel! Great choice of cars. I was fortunate enough to buy a 2009 manual transmission DBS earlier this year. The TDF Is on the list too but that is out of my price range for the time being. I had to settle for 997.2 GT3RS 3.8 which also a magnificent car! Thank you for everything that you do.
Sir you look the part of James Bond in the DBS. The cars are fabulous. The note of the ferrari is exhilerating. The manual trans is adicting. I got one with paddles now I need the DBS!!! Thanks for sharing.
Ahh....the Green Welly Stop at Tyndrum. I couldn't even tell you how many times I've whizzed through there on the way to Nevis Range & Glencoe to go snowboarding in the past... Fun roads indeed! great video I enjoyed watching this as im contemplating trading my 08 DBS manual for a Ferrari f12. I know this comparison is with a tdf but give me an insight into Ferrari. but damn im so unsure which way to go now either keep my DBS which I absolutely love by the way, or swap it for a really nice specced f12
James your taste it's just top notch, the true V12 which combines the purity of driving and the Monster that they become each one with a distinct character. A real duo in the most beautiful roads in the world. You have shown that your project has really grown-up and how much you have been investing, the results are very good. That detailed feedback makes all the difference, congratulations the best naturally aspirated of an era.
Unreal! I have the exact same pair, the same colour, everything! I never thought in my wildest dreams that there would be a Mr JWW RUclips video featuring the exact same pair of...Motorola TLKR T80 Extremes!
I am sure these V12’s are the last of we will see in the what has to be the pinnacle of automotive engineering and style. They are truly magnificent cars! If I hit the lottery I would love to have them ....a man can dream! Great content Mr JWW
Another geat review by MrJWW. Two of the best V12s in fabulous scenery. Nothing else sounds like the tdf though. What a car. One of the all time great Ferraris.
Thanks Mr. JWW for this great video! Both are very nice and very beautiful cars. However, I prefer the DBS just because of its timeless and style. From a technology point of view there are for sure better cars but the Aston V12 6.0, the Design and the History of Aston Martin are phenomenal and priceless. I just love Aston Martin and I'm a proud owner of an AM since a couple of years. My first AM was a Vantage V8 with manual gear. Currently I own a DBS Volante and I love it! Nothing can beat it. Even not German Engineering or Ferrari or Lamborghini. It's just in a class of its own.
I'd have to go with the DBS. It is so well suited for street use, and it's reassuring in a way where you feel like its power and performance is adequate. It suits the car to have 510bhp, and a planted handling experience. It invites you to go cross country on trips, you can take it to do your daily commutes if you like. You can park it in the street and instead of grabbing attention from everyone, it just leaves a lasting impression just for those who notice it. It owns the road in a way very few cars do. Now what I would love to see, would be the engine and transmission from the TDF, coupled with a single seater layout like a hyper version of the BAC Mono. I think that would be a match made in heaven, if simply just for the sheer insanity and respect such a vehicle would invoke.
Great video James, problably the best you've, done so far in my opinion. Two amazing V12 totally diferent animals back to back, beauty and the beast actually.Just love the DBS though, what can i say. Way to go!
The DBS is my favorite of the two, but the 6.3 liter V12 in the F12 TDF is such a bad-ass engine! Sometimes I have to stop and think how amazing it is that, that huge engine is spinning right up to 9,000 RPM! That's simply mind boggling!
Oh boy what a fantastic pair to take to the Highlands the roads, the views, what more could you want in November from the UK. Hopefully we have a part 2 👍👊💥

I really enjoy your videos. The production value, with the drone footage etc, is outstanding. I'll never have the money for either car, but it's nice to see them. It would be great for you to detail the roads a bit in these, so we can lookup where they are. I do a lot of photography (do you need a car photographer?!) so would enjoy to take my camera up there, maybe in my 1972 MGB. It's no AM or F, but fun to drive nevertheless.
The DBS every time. Suspect on a long road trip the screaming Ferrari V12 would become tiresome. The F12 TDF is faster, more technically able, more £valuable. But the DBS is better looking and it has that manual gearbox.

DBS! The manual shift and especially that blip on the overrun!
