For me, the 2008-2009 DBS is by far the most beautiful modern GT car.
For me it's the 2012-2018 Vanquish but yeah that DBS is a close second
Agreed!
It's between this and the Vanquish S. Anyway, both are V12 Astons😅
@@CMDR_bravoMike I just picked up a Quantum Silver '14 Vanquish Volante. It's perfect.
Yes sir, this first.. F12 second..
V12 + manual, all you will ever need
v12 with an x-pipe*
This car has aged with grace and dignity, and still looks modern. I bet if Aston released this today, no one would care. This is my ultimate dream machine. What a beauty.
the interior does not look too bad either. every touchpad interior looks older than this already.
the only thing Ted missed to mention is when you fire up the car, it will say "power, beauty, soul" in the gauge cluster. just one more thing to love about this timeless masterpiece. chief-kiss
Casino Royale is to this day one of my all time favorite films and the DBS one of my all time favorite cars. It was a great time in my life. Thank you for sharing.
Driving this car with the manual gear and using B&O system to listen the PAL version of "You Know My Name " - it would be awesome 😍
the mid to late 00's Astons were the absolute pinnacle of great looking GT cars.
I always thought this was the best looking car when I was a child. It still looks timeless almost 15 years later
There can never be enough videos showing manual V12 Astons being driven as they should be
What a gorgeous timeless car and with the manual v12, just perfection
Just like DB6 and the old muscle DBS. This car won't ever go out of fashion
Such a beautiful GT luxury vehicle. That crash was very hard to watch during Casino Royale 😢
best Aston this century so far, and without a shadow of a doubt the best looking modern gt. the only car that runs it somewhat close is the Ferrari f12. don't care about the fact it's fairly slow by modern standards, it's an utterly brilliant thing
HOLY SMOKES, That is the definition of gorgeous. Must have felt good being James Bond.
What a great sound this thing has! Beautiful car made all the moreso by that soundtrack. Thanks, Tedward!
Gotta love that manual V12 🔥🔥
Here it is, my dream car. I hope one day I will get this beautiful.
I'm with you on the steering portion. As CRAZY as it sounds, some of the BEST steering I've ever experienced in a car is from my shiteconobox, drive it till the wheels fall off '05 Honda Odyssey. It's a damn minivan, but my GOD is the steering perfect. Feedback is incredible, and I genuinely feel far more connected to the road than I do in my friends new G80 M3. The Odyssey steering isn't heavy nor light - it's just perfect. Ironically, it feels as good as the steering in my old '06 S2000. Hydraulic steering is sorely missed.
Sounds right being a Honda. They seem to do handling extremely well.
Still one of THE most beautiful cars ever created even in 2023. Also that V12 + 6MT combination would be forever timeless as well.
The POV review I was truly waiting for
That sound is timeless❤🎉
Had the pleasure of spending a weekend with one of these beauties 😍
It wasban 2010The guy was trying to sell it and, waa a friend of my Bros, so i got it to test.
It was an absolutely amazing car all round . The sound was the best sounding v12 ive experienced personally. ( it had an eventuri aftermarket intake and a custom sports exhaust, cant remember from where) it was unreal.
The only reasons i didn't buy it ..
A.back then it was barely 2 years old and i couldn't really afford it!
B. It was a kinda burgundy colour.
Cheers
Man im not commenting these videos very often but this dbs is just the peak of what car can present
Hey Tedward! love all your videos! I fell in love with the Ariel Atom 4 after watching your video on it last night haha (that thing sounds INSANEEEE). I'd love to see a review on the Ferrari 328 GTS, it's reasonably prices, gated manual, no power steering, easy to maintain (compared to something like a testarossa where you have to drop the engine to service it), and I think it's truly a hidden gem in classic cars. Would be awesome if you could get your hands on one to review sometime! Keep up the awesome work!
The way you described the clutch engagement sounds a lot like how my 2015 camaro's clutch feels. Its my first stick shift car to ever own and drive and apparently the high clutch engagement is not normal... It also has a springy feeling to it as you get up to the clutch engagement point. Great video as always! gotta love them V12s.
@drivenlabz any chance you've driven an S550 V8 Mustang? Wondering how the driver inputs (clutch, steer, shift) compare. Congrats on the Camaro!
Most beautiful car ever made!
Inside and out, this is still one of the best looking cars ever made in my opinion
The sound is amazing ! I want one !!!
My favourite Aston to date after watching it in Casino Royale
I had no clue modern Astons came with a manual. 🤯 Probably because I need at least 30 more years before they become a subject of my interests. 😄 Jokes aside, that is one hell of a gentleman's look. The rims are stunning, the grill is stunning, that's obvious. What is not so obvious to me is the headlights, because all together they look very... non special? if that makes sense, but when your sight starts taking them apart piece by piece, they suddenly appear very sleek, mysterious, dark, tearing up slightly with those blinkers. All that topped off with the massive V12 engine that really tells you it is a massive car.
The shifter is... intriguing. So unusual, so bulky, so ugly, but at the same it fits that GT like a glove, looks as sturdy as the rest of the car.
Bond Group always hooking you up with the best of the best and you did the car justice. All the b-rolls as you present the car in the beginning look amazing and such a casual shoot place at this time of the year seems ideal for such car. My favourite shots are the interior at 0:22 and the rim shot that follows and the side profile at 0:43. Great way to brighten up my day, thank you!
Spinning the rear tires at every light! High bite point gets ya.
i absolutely adore this generation of Astons
Old Aston Martins are just beautiful!
Sounds like an aircraft taking off. Love it!
I love it when you review the Astons because you switch to saying "bonnet" and "boot" real fast :-)
It’s not worth the English correction comments. Or maybe it is?
I’ve watched enough of your videos to recognize where you take these cars out to drive! Translation: I like your videos.
this car is just legendary
Yessss finally tedward
Pretty rare car, so I had to "settle" for a DB9. Same motor, just a little softer overall package. Love it!
Just watching this makes my knees week
glad to see there wasnt a screwdriver in the middle of the intersection at 10:00
Beautiful. Perfect.
my fav modern aston martin!!!!!!!!!!
this car was in the game Driver:SF and the sound was actually spot on! I loved to just cruise in it for the sound.
Man I loved that game back in the day
@@andreamusso1469 its still good. I played it 3x already. Not long ago. Its very under rated.:-)
Carry on looking like a boss! 😄
For me, it's good that it's not ate up with power. You can enjoy it.
My boss had one, very lucky to have had a drive in it.
gorgeous car timeless
my favroite aston, id need a selection of suits, watches, and colonges to go along with this for my daniel craig cosplay
Gorgeous.
That’s a dream car
Whoa… I was literally watching your ‘05 and ‘14 DB9 Videos… I check your profile and you upload a DBS review same day? The gods must be telling me to go on BAT and start bidding, DB is meant to Be LOL
5:30 look at the reflection of the trees in the piano black dash. beautiful. i guess for vertical space piano black could be cool?
Great video, thank you, just subscribed! You recently also did one on the Vanquish Volante (2014) - when you compare these two cars, is the Vanquish better in terms of ride quality and general feel (updated center console, carbon ceramic brakes etc.)? Of course you can´t get the Vanquish with a stick.
What’s amazing is that the manual examples stayed close to automatics for a long time. Wonder how easy they are to convert. Automatic examples are still quite reasonable and I think in the long run that will change. By all accounts one of the greatest cars ever built by AM and possibly anyone.
They're not easy to convert
not at all not in the least
whether it's an Aston Martin
or a mainstream car.
Automatics were built at
the factory for an automatic
transmission not a manual.
love it
v12+ manual im happy
Hey! Can you post your settings of Go Pro? I've watched your "old" tutorial but you've changed the camera over the years and maybe they are outdated?
reminds me of 2000's mercedes v12s by the sound
Clutch pedal for any manual can be adjusted.
Any upcoming car shows in the Boston area??
My god car for sure.
Sweet
This is a James Bond car. I want the oil slick, ejection seat, smoke screen, and more or no deal.
I think AI design in New York could make that happen for you
@@TedwardDrives Hmmm tempting.
Haven't finished the video yet, so he may explain it later, but I'm shocked how short those gears are in the opening clip. Does this car have a shorter axle ratio than stock? When I google the ratios, it seems like these are entirely wrong (in the best way possible, of course).
Edit: at a second glance, I realize it's just the digital speedometer is hilariously slow
That is the valet key. Previous owner has obviously kept the expensive glass crystal key.
Beautiful❤. How was the clutch?-I find my C6 clutch very heavy and hard for me to drive as smoothly as ND or Z3.
Pretty light honestly. very easy and forgiving
Super nice 👌🏾 but that rpm needle sweeping in the wrong direction bothers me 😟
Dog leg gearboxes are best for track/racing use.
not as a 7 speed. new Aston doglegs are a mess.
Their V12 doesn’t sound obnoxious.
🖤
what colour is it?
You MUST know that plastic key is the VALET key and not the crystal main key!
Yes I thought I explained that.
A manual 6-speed!
Looks like you're driving the family Camry around when you're on the city streets...never experienced an Aston Martin in real life, but I suspect that Ford gave them lots of lessons and technical expertise to help them build a civilized car, in the row-your-own gears form, even! 😂 Try that in a Bond era DB5...
I have tried =)

What kind of MPG would you get in 6th gear at highway speeds?
Past 500 Miles I averaged just shy of 10 mpg, 50/50 city and highway. Best I’ve seen on the highway was 15 mpg for a very brief moment.
Dun du du dun dun, dun dun dun dun du du du dun
Porsche options - Aluminium blinker stalks - +$3,000
Casino Royale came out in 2006. How is a 2009 model the car from the movie?
Are the tires chirping off the line? I hear a sound. You said the lamborghini makes the same sound.
It’s something in the driveline. Valentino Balboni told me it was at the differential.
of course you'd get this car from Bond group
The front looks like a GT1 car
Sounds like a v6 honestly. It just does. Since it's essentially two v6 engines stuck together. I'm not a fan of the v12 sound, i think the v10 is the best engine along with the v8 and 5 cylinder
f12 and 812 sounds different from 6cyl
Awesome car, if only it was easy to modify the DB9 to this level without having to gut the thing and ordering overpriced parts.
👀 👍
That backwards tach is bacwards😖
Not sure why people get upset about the fact that auto manufacturers round up engine displacements. If you want to be pedantic about it, it's not a 5.9 or a 6.0 L engine. It's a 5.935L engine. That would look stupid on the engine, so Aston did what Ford, Mercedes, and many other manufacturers do, and rounded up.
The DBS in this video has the early clutch, which makes a squealing noise if you slip the clutch even a little. The clutch replacement kits in the parts system now don't have this issue. Road noise on this generation DBS is worse with the original Pirelli P-Zero tires. Upgrading to Michelin P4S tires provides less road noise and better grip, especially in cold and wet conditions.
People complain about the fact that some of the little pieces some from Ford (who owned Aston Martin when this car was designed). Shared parts are common in the industry, as the cost to develop and manufacture bespoke parts for every little switch and knob just isn't worth it for most companies, unless you are Koenigsegg, and your cars are in the million dollar plus range. I do agree on the turn signal stalk. That and the wiper controls aren't up to the same standard as the center stack controls. Maybe you didn't notice, but the volume knob you grabbed as an example of "cheap" is actually machined from aluminum, and isn't plastic. Everything in the DBS that looks like metal *is* metal, not painted plastic, which is one of the reasons why the car weighs as much as it does. Even the piano black upper center stack panels are painted metal.
Overall, a very reasonable review. Well done.
“Then the whole thing down with this stupid key. They call it, an I’m not joking, and emotional control unit. I have one of those already. It’s called a government, and I don’t like them either.”- Jeremy Clarkson. 😁
Tachometers are not supposed to go that way.
how many liters
5.9L
I actually wish it sounded better, it doesn't sound like a good V12
that´s a beautiful car but the steering wheel looks quite dated but not in the good way
edit: i changed my mind after looking at it for a few minutes I think it´s quite nice
Not bad for two Ford Pickup V6 engines welded together
I love these Aston’s. The new ones look weak and cheap.
They look relatively the same lmao
It ain’t an Aston Martin video if you can’t see the mph due to the frame overlap
Facts
That shifter is too much.
hi
Hi!
2 mins ago. Says youtube
2009?! Casino Royale was 2006. Quantum of Solice 2008. Something doesn’t jive here
I hate the cheap, reflective glossy center part of the dash... so cheap looking and distracting for an otherwise amazing car. It must have been the Ford engineering involved there.
i just cant get over how ugly the shifter is.
pretty wild huh?
