- One of the most common questions is about the Target. If you want one you can get there: targetsonline.c...
Whether you are talking to a new recruit or a old Nam vet, they will all recall the Rifle Qualification Course. While i can’t attest to the other branches of service, the US Army has always relied on the 300 meter standard Rifle Qualification. This test required a Soldier to first shoot a 20rd magazine, from a concrete “foxhole,” at targets ranging from 25 meters to 300 meters. The Soldier then had to climb out of the foxhole, assume a unsupported prone firing position (laying on the ground), and again engage various targets from 25m to 300m, with a second 20rd mag. If I recall correctly, I think 34/40 was expert. If I shot below 38, I wanted to kill myself (very easy test for a young trooper with good eyes).
These tests were all done with iron sights. They were good for gauging how good our Soldiers would be shooting at targets in an open defence. However, as the global war on terror was shaping up, we began to see more and more urban combat. So, what about training, and testing, at CQB distances?
Here we are, now 15 years later, still playing the same political games. There are quite a few different Carbine Tests out there. Some are good. Some, well, not so much.
In this video Rob takes us through what we call the “Mar Qual.” It is a standardized test, that T1G uses to gauge the shooting abilities of different operators (and whole units), prior to allowing them to go “Hot” into the live-fire shoot houses. It takes shooters through Standing/Kneeling/Prone, speed reloads, shooting on the move, and limited exposure shots (snaps). Rob has a little fun talking through how to properly score these targets. There are actually two different versions (male and female), but both have the same scoring areas. To run this test, each shooter will need 50rds of rifle (there is a pistol version also) and three paper targets. You’re wanting at least 80 points to pass this test.
Stages (so you don’t have to keep rewatching the video)
From 50m; 2rds Standing, 2rds Kneeling, 2rds Prone; against 1st paper target
From 50m, run to 25m, then 2rds standing and 2rds Kneeling
From 25m, 1rd snap to the face in 2 seconds
From 25m moving to the 15m; shooting while moving 2rds to chest
From 15m, 2rds hammered pair to chest in 2 seconds
From 15m moving to 10m, shooting while moving, failure drill
From 10m moving to 5m, shooting while moving, failure drill
Walk back to 7m; from 7m moving to 3m; shooting while moving, failure drill
Set up 2 new clean targets
From 50m; 2rds Standing on 1st target, speed reload, 2rds Kneeling on 2nd target
From 25m moving to 15m; shooting while moving, 2rds each target
From 15m; 2rds hammered pair on each target
From 15m moving to 10m, shooting while moving, 2rds each target
From 10m; 2rds hammered pair on each target
From 10m moving to 3m; shooting while moving, Box Drill
So, if you are looking for a new drill to add to your training plan, or you are just wanting to test your skill level against America’s finest, give this Carbine Qualification a try. It’s a great training tool.
Now, that said, do I think it should replace the Army’s standard 300 meter qual? No, I do not. Unfortunately, we are seeing our modern generation of warfighters becoming overly dependant on optic sights and only practicing at CQB distances. What good is having a rifle capable of precision shots at 400 meters, if our Soldiers are only proficient out to 25 meters? Don’t just train for your last battle; train for what might possibly be your next. That means mastering both CQB distances and open long distances. So, conquer them both.
This is the part where you push away from the computer. Go slap in a fresh mag, and try out this qual on your local rifle range. Then, come back and let us know how you did.

I'm amazed that he could explain the target with a straight face.
Ikr🤣🤣
"Transition to her small box"
Roger that.
because her big box was "too easy".....
Hahaha small box jokes were obviously going in the comments
"If You checked this chick out she's got a bowling pin..." inside her.
Not the fartbox?
Yup
"Her small box will be 2 points, and her big box will be 1 point." Roger that.
Her small box is 2 points, her big boxes are 1 point a piece, meaning either her small box or her 2 boxes are equally acceptable targets for projectiles
I'm going for 40 points...a lot
Im here for the small box jokes.
Haha SAME
Solid dating tips brochacho
"You don't get any points for hitting her down here."
I beg to differ ;)
He said hitting her down there won't help. He's right, do you see her eyes?
My wife will only lets me transition to her small box every once in a while...Bonus joke: I am deadly accurate hitting the face triangle though *rim shot*...
EPIC LMFAO
I really tried not to laugh.. (The wife is sitting next to me)..
Where can I buy one of these targets for.... "tactical" use, of course.
They sell them on Pornhub.
You realize you can just type the word tits into Google right?
He kept saying she has a big box.
@@LL-fi4rr Genius.
That's the hottest target I've ever seen.....
How can he say her boxes with such a straight face? Im dying laughing from it.
Practice, my man. Spend a few years in the military and you can talk about boxes all day long like it's nothing.
At 6:15 when the shooter is describing his shots, "And those on the b.... her lower chest region." lol you know he's trying really hard not to slip up.
Well they gave him a hot target.
He was referring to the one's on her stomach
Thomas Fraind yeah he was going to say lower body
No need to run, I was breathing heavy when I first saw the target.
Nailed her
Solid drill.
Here it is in writing, for my fellow SHYOOOOTERRSSS who are as memory-impaired as I am:
1 mag of 26, 1 mag of 24
Single Target
50 yd line: 2 standing, 2 kneeling, 2 prone
Run to 25 yd line: 2 standing, 2 kneeling
25 yd line: 1 headshot (in 2 sec)
25-15 yd line: 2 moving
15 yd line: 2 standing (hammer pairs, 15 yd and in)
15-10 yd line: failure drill
10-5 yd line: failure drill
7-3 yd line: failure drill
Two Target (A/B)
50 yd: 2 standing on A; speed reload; 2 kneeling on B
Move to 25 yd (no reason not to run here, too)
25-15 yd line: 2 moving on A; 2 moving on B
15 yd line: 2 standing on A; 2 standing on B
15-10 yd line: 2 moving on A; 2 moving on B
10 yd line: 2 standing on A; 2 standing on B
10-3 yd line: box drill
Wow. Thanks. We might have to put that in the description to make sure everyone get it. Strength and Honor, TR
He mentioned a transition to her small box!! Me likey!!
'Her big box is too easy...' I'm crying😂😂😂
Her small box is very nice! 😂
7thRecce I'd hit her box too
Is the big box her buttocks ?..lol
1:10 You get all the points for hitting her down there!
I'm gonna show up to carbine drill with my m38 mosin bolt action carbine
ah..i'm not the only perv here....
this dude is like a tactical Andrew from reno 911
A friend of my father was really saddened when he was forced to shoot some fifteen year old kids in Germany during WW 2, thing is they were in uniform, armed to the teeth and full of fight and fanaticism, do people intent on using deadly force get a pass based on age, gender etc ? the short answer is no, training should prepare a solider as best as possible to engage a threat no matter who it is.
That doesnt change the fact that Federal Agencies and Actors are using targets like these to train. Why would they use targets that look like an average American civilian gun owner unless they were training specifically to face, or at least view, that demographic as an enemy? Because its politically incorrect to use targets that look like Mexican women and children crossing the border? Or targets that look like someone wearing a Burka for anonymity? No. They are using targets like these because they are getting our armed men and women used to the idea of shooting at the average American Citizen and you should be concerned not complicit.
@@edwardnigma6568 I hate obnoxious politically motivated targets like presidents and shit but I think you have this completely wrong. The reason why targets of women and juveniles are included as a part of training isn't because that's who they expect them to kill the most or even to kill often, it's because they are the HARDEST for people to kill and they still might have to. Human civilization has always placed a higher value on the lives and safety of children and women (a privilege I have sadly yet to hear acknowledged by a feminist or even a woman once....strange).
The entire reason why military/police started requiring human targets is because human resistance to shooting is fucking insaneeely powerful. A military survey found something like only 10% of soldiers that made contact in WW2 before this type of training even managed fired their weapons and less aimed them. They called the phenomenon trigger finger frostbite.
Men's (perhaps condescending) pity of women/children and lack of willingness to hurt them in a combat sense in the overwhelming majority of the male population is well documented and understood..I can think of way too many examples to list...fuck if you study evolutionary biology, the reason given why women's faces change way less during puberty (feminine facial features are child-like features) and are hormonally enabled to cry easier in the same level as stress as men is to protect against violence through evolving features our brains recognize as childlike, innocent, non-threatening, and evoke pity/sympathy. As unlikely as it is that law enforcement / military (usually) will have a violent assault against them by women/children, they DO need to learn that if that happens to respond the same way they would with a man.
@@edwardnigma6568 meh, every threat is a target, every target, a threat. Doesn't matter what or who they are.

Went out to the range today and ran this for the first time. Was happy to hit an 82, but it definitely pointed out some weaknesses for me to work on.
Great stuff as always guys.
In all seriousness, that is a hard drill to ace! It really shows your proficiency level. Which reminds me, I've got a lot of training to do lol.
It is a great drill. I just had the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Marksmanship Team do it, down at T1G on Range-2. They did very well. However, not well enough to go into the shoot house with live ammo (at least not all of them). It is a bar to set for yourself. Aim for a score of 85, then 90, then 95. Try to always stay above 95%. Thanks for watching, TR
Her big box is too easy... Huehuehue
G-day mate, enough said on the target choice, it's irrelevant, an enemy no matter how they look is just that an enemy. One again a excellent demo and instruction video. Stay safe.
Great drills!!! I need to do more carbine work. I've been in pistol mode only, lately. These are really good for learning your holdovers, at different ranges.
While watching the video I KNEW what I was going to find in the comments. Was not disappointed. All boxes checked.
Can't decide if that was Gazoo from the Jetsons or Dark Helmet from Spaceballs
Dark Helmet. And the combo to his gun safe is 12345
Dark helmet would probably light you up. Hahaha
Gazoo was the Flintstones, dumb dumb.
Great nuts and bolts type information - no hype no...no flash...just solid hits.
If "her big box is too easy," then you're probably shouldn't be messing with her.
Respect for owning the shots you took on first take. The real world ain’t on a static stage. Bravo Zulu.
Rob you are too cool explaining the scoring with a straight face! You must do that every course of fire.
Looking a target surprised me. It took me a few seconds till I noticed her hands. Wow, just learned something today. Talk about PSYOPs.
This was an excellent course of fire. Thanks for sharing!
This is a great qualification drill, covering lots of things.
Did you get that target from dhs?
no
IKEEPMYFREEDOM haha. NICE! That's a good one
This guy would be helping them out if they started confiscations, already has those pathetic dhs style targets.
Oh, come on...No one is coming to seize your weapons. I bet you buried yours in a PVC pipe in your backyard.
the truth ohhhhh, you mean like in Australia? You mean like in the UK? You mean like they did after hurricane Katrina???? You don't know Shit!
"Run from 50yds to 25yds, that'll get us breathing heavy"...I was breathing heavy just looking at the hot target, when he said shoot her in the box i reached for lotion. Been married for a long time, get excited easily.
I am stunned - I have no words !
Just picking myself up off the floor from hysterical laughter !
This had to be a set up ! 🤣🤣🤣
Real nice drill. Guys gotta learn how to remain accurate after a sprint.
Surely sight alignment is very critical when using any firearm. But I find that firing for effect with a "pistol" is more challenging due to three things ( holding the weapon steady, the firmness of the grip, breathing and trigger application. take care. peace.
loving this channel. just figured out how to watch it on my 60 inch tv. lots of awesome info, thanks again.
Were the woman and children targets on sale this month?
really nice set up on the range, wish I could train luke that
Rob, good to see you and Chad rocking out at T1G. Gotta love the house Mod Qual, keep it coming!
All this talk of box hitting is awesome‼️
Phenomenal drill to master a vary of skills needed to progress to that higher level of mastering that weapon.
Shots need to be scored after each stage to identify which skill sets need attention in training. Score after when qualing or when shooting with multiple people. Run this drill several times scoring each stage, then run a final drill to check score/ progress. Good to see solid USMC content.
Great suggestion, Mark. It is always better to break training drills into measurable phases where you can score your improvement. You can do this will all tests.
Very random comment, but I am new to the channel. I like your content and very interested in future content. Would love to see a video on barricaded suspects with the integration of a k9. Going over tactics with team in the stack and employing the k9. I understand this could take awhile, but love the channel so thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks
Thanks for the comment Dan. We do work with K9's from time to time, we will see what we can do. Strength and Honor, TR
1:57 "her big box is too easy..."
This channel is spot on thanks guys for such great content.
Fuken Zen...
I now wish we had this course when I was in...Lucky!
Greetings from Brazil!
I'm Tactical Rifleman fan!
if a feminist saw this she'd be crying misogyny
How about they start their own wars and create their own military, and they can have half naked model dudes as targets. Tell them the women need to shut up lol.
I couldn't get the cutie target, so I had to shoot mine with the 'Methed Up Mike' target. This is lots of fun to shoot. It only takes a couple boxes of ammo to be able to shoot this course multiple times, so it doesn't have to be expensive. You could also shoot this with a .22 for some cheap practice and trigger time.
Go Train!
Love your helmet brother
I love this channel. Great drills!
I wish I would have found this channel before. There's some good information here.
Thanks, we do a video every week. Help us out by sharing with your friends to help spread the word.
Hadn't seen the drill, nice. I just sub'd.
8:38 after the shots are fired, you can hear a „oh yeah“ that gets cut off
“Transition to her small box when the big box is too easy.” Famous last words. 👍
super good drills thanks for these. this is cool brotha..
Once again GREAT LESSON THANK YOU ALL.
OK, thanks I found it. I ran this course using the SBE target. I would like to see you cover stability while walking. That would be a good video
Nice job Frenchy! When did build a bear start selling tactical clothing !
awesome drill! thanks
Great drills & awesome info!!
That’s a very good video. You’ve done excellent work, but I have a question. What’s a good paper target to use I mean I understand you got the one with the girl, but I’m looking for something plain Jane to use and also why would you?
Very informative and educational, Thank you very much
It's good practice when firing single shots to pull the trigger when at the same time your foot hits the ground when shooting on the move.
Just plain well done simple and to the point and a boxes.... :)
This is the most unintentionally funny shooting technique video I've ever come across.
Rob is a jokester.
Solid drills gents. Very good information.
Great drill.
Great channel guys!
Great channel. Just found it. Thx for the great info. Is there a link to info on time limits for each stage or target exposure? Or is it 2 seconds on each?
Good, solid courses of fire. Good drills
Good stuff. Our targets didn't rotate but that is very similar to the training I did with SWAT.
How did you say that all thay with a straight face?😂
I wish you could still find that DD handguard. I loved that one
thnx so much for the drill, i apréciate your time and teaching
Thanks for watching, TR
Thankyou something else for me to practice !!
Great chanel thank you for putting out good info. What is with the hate on pelvis shots they are often very effective especially on people wearing armor.
Now all I need is a range where I can walk back and forth, while nobody else is using it.
So like my own private range, or a range that I rent for a day.
Do only some of the stages have par times?
Great info in your videos! Where are you guys located?
Great vid btw
Everyone's talking about the transition to her small box, anyone else only hear Walter's "Over the line!" whenever he stands on the rope rather than behind it? I'm sorry Rob, but this is not Nam this is shooting drills there are rules.
Thank you for sharing. do you have time limits/thresholds for all of the distances?
awesome stuff... are there time requirements on the phases besides the 2 second head shot
Pow! Right in the small box!
came here for the innuendos
Stayed for the tactics
"You don't get any points for hitting her down here."
Taran Butler has left the chat - and not just because the model was over 18.
Great drills
Great video.
Hey I read in the description about the 300 meter army qualification and it's a good one to know too but couldn't find any videos on it could you do one?
Hahaha, you said transition to her small box!!!
Could you do a video on the specs of the rifle used on this video? Thank you.
Definatly the great Gazoo!!
EXCELLENT DRILL GUYS. LIKE TO TRY IT.
Good stuff .
I think that"GAL" on the target was in"DEADWOOD". One of the saloon girls .
That 50-25 looked like a 50 yard spread. What d istance measurements are yall using.
