i LOVE that you're so focused on Fuji! Don't know anyone else that's just as focused about Fuji than you are! I love my Fuji and I've learned so much from your channel :)
I got a Fuji camera last year which I absolutely adore, but I was feeling I wasn’t using its full potential (never really explored the menus). Your channel is awesome! Soo educational but also very uplifting :) thanks for the great work and positive energy!
Of all the RUclipsrs involved in photography, I find you the most informative and with the most captivating personality. I feel like I'm watching a TV show. I want you as my friend!
To be honest I learnt MUCH more information about favourite camera Fujifilm than from any other sources. Thank you so much for your expressive and informative videos! Just loving watch them! 💗
Items I would add to this list. Glass LCD protector, fits in there perfectly and makes it easier to clean the "screen." Peak design Cuff for added security, and the Capture Clip for easy on easy off two must have item for vacation and hiking. Also I do recommend one of those gopro hotshoe mount too. Easy to put on a light or a 360 cam on top.
I've been subscribed to your channel for a few months after buying my XT5. Love your explanations and enthusiasm. Apropos of your movie trivia, I would be shocked if someone hadn't already told you that you're the "Rick Moranis" of the RUclips camera channel. You give off a very wholesome vibe that makes it clear you're Canadian (but I think some Americans could pull it off under the right training and circumstances). I might be wrong about that Canadian thing, but just a hunch. Anyway, the "honey I shrunk the camera" atmosphere makes watching your videos fun.
I’ve watched all your videos all the way from England and have to say they are brilliant and massive help to learning how to use my xt-4 Keep the coming
@@pal2tech did you also test multiple thumb grips? I am not so happy with the JJC. Groove is shallow, a bit shorter than the distance to the groove on the cam and blocks AF, the back wheel and the Q button. Yours might even be shorter though!
Awesome. I‘m a poor guy, don‘t have much money but I was already having a headache wondering how I could spend the rest of this months budget. Thanks 2 pal I‘ll now spend it for some tech 😁💪
@@pal2tech I know 😊 Thanks by the way for this great chanel - It’s your fault that I recently bought myself an X-T4 (the reason why I‘m a poor guy now 😉). No, seriously, thanks a lot, I really enjoy every episode and even though I‘m fairly new to this I already kinda feel like an expert 😎 Thanks and regards from Lake Constance, Europe
Two things that transformed how I performed as a documentary photographer. Having a concave shutter button and a wrist strap. People are far more likely to welcome you into their world when they see someone approaching with a camera down beside their leg than across their chest.
Thank you! I never would have guessed the shutter release looked like that. It would have bugged me that it appeared to be missing a part by the threaded hole being there.
I'm glad I went with the X-H1. The bigger bodies X-H1/X-S10/GFX cameras solve half of the issues that the X-T series suffer from that force users to use 3rd party accessories. Can't wait for the X-H2 (rumored to be release in 2022) 🤤
Hi from Switzerland. I am new to the Fujifilm ecosystem and I find your videos extremely helpful. Thanks a lot for the hard work that goes into making these videos and keep up the good work!
Can’t believe you forgot the most important one. Adapters that allow you to attach 3rd party lenses. I’ve got myself one for Nikon G lenses (without autofocus, but with an iris ring) and one for m42 vintage lenses, like the Helios 58mm f2. These allow me to use my 8 Nikon lenses and two m42 vintage lenses. For less than 30 euro each, I’ve got myself a 10 lenses system in addition to the 2 X mount lenses I’ve already got. Also insted of buying the Fuji wide angle zoom, I can now use my F mount Tokina 11-16 f2.8 and if I need an even wider shot, the Tamron 10-24 lens. Fantastic! You could also get a third party charger with 2 batteries for less than 50 EUR, not to mention the power bank mini tripod grip.
My favorite cheap accessory is the Fujifilm RR-100, I use it all the time. (Remote shutter release) I also use one of those red concave soft releases. And a Smallrig L bracket, even though I'm not a big fan of the wooden extended handle.
My favorite accessory is my Gutty Nikon-to-Fuji adapter for $20. It lets me use my collection of manual Nikkor lenses with the Fuji, including my 55mm Micro-Nikkor. I don't need extension tubes!
Great video as always! Just I wanted to add that even though shutter release button and a thumb grip looks very comfortable, you have to be careful with them, as I have seen people breaking their hot shoe mount and shutter button as they are taking their camera out of the bag.
Useful add-ons. BTW, your vid was preceded by an ad for the Cadillac XT4 - no kidding. (If you’re a fan of retro true “screw-in” shutter cable releases, you might want to pass on the soft shutter button add-on.)
nice list. I'd add a couple of items - a remote shutter release cable and a couple of lens adapters for fitting old Nikon / Canon / other lens to the X mount
Great video, as always. I have all those accessories, except the eye cup. I also have lens pouches, a hand strap and a camera pouch, all in neoprene and the latter two from JJC. They all are comfortable, inexpensive, useful and of good quality. Just keep in mind that, if your camera has the L bracket hand grip, the camera pouch should be big enough to accommodate the extra size. I have an X-T30 with a hand grip, so I got a pouch designed for the X-T3 and it fits perfectly.
Absolutely my all time favorite FujiFilm Channel on any platform. Love your work bro! Question: I used to use Shutter Release Button on my X-T2, but the Shutter Release Button stopped working properly as in it didn't give me the second level focus click only final shutter release click. Had to send it to FujiFilm to get it fixed, but they told me not to use Shutter Release Buttons... Now on my X-T3, I'm still using one, as well as on my T-20 and E-1. Do you think it's true that Shutter Release Buttons can damage the release button? Anyone had any issues with this or was it just a faulty T-2 release button?
Shutter buttons. There are some companies that sell five or six at a time for about $15 if I remember. I haven’t lost a bunch but I do have plenty of spares.
nice suggestion on the jjc, the Fuji is nearly 130 Canadian for just the 16, and I can get both for $50 Canadian via Amazon. Much appreciated. Love macro, and can't afford a dedicated lens!
I purchased a FUJIFILM X-T5 and have loved watching your videos on setting up the camera itself and which flash to use! I'm looking for some help with recommendations for a tripod setup that supports a vertical position of the camera. I think an L bracket like you recommend in this video would be good? Do you have one that you'd recommend specifically for this setup and are there any other accessories/tripod you'd recommend to go with an L bracket to complete the setup? I'm mostly in social media field, but wanting to offer high quality content creation as well. Definitely need some expert advice to get the right equipment setup!
I love my extension tubes that you turned me on to in your dedicated video about them. The only problem I found was that it fed my love for macro to the point I went out and bought the dedicated macro lens lol.
Great video, I need to check out those extension tubes. FWIW, I tired the larger eyecups a while back and found them to be too soft, the rubber easily pulled off the clip structure and it's very hard to push back in without breaking or tearing it. Went back the eyecup that came with my XT-3 and seems to be fine. For metal L brackets there's a version on Amazon with both the grip and the side portion with arca connection (a true L bracket). Inexpensive, but really strong and makes a huge diff in ergonomics and functionality if you go back and forth between landscape and portrait a lot.
I find that shooting closeup with the best sleeper lens Fuji has, the 16-50 3.5, that I still want about a half inch or more depth of field. So, even though that very inexpensive and sharp lens focusses down to about 4 inches from the front of the lens, I back off to around a foot at the 16mm setting to get some depth, shooting a f 5.6 or f8. I use electronic shutter, and the 2 sec timer. If I added a macro extension, my subject better be a penny. All Things Shining.
When I first got my X-T2 I took the eyecup off because when I tilted the screen out and looked straight down at it, the eyecup covered it a little. I actually wished that the eye cup was as slim as the one that the X-T1 came with. But now I'm switching away from my X-T2, so its no longer an issue =P Those macro rings are great btw! Used them for a long time.
Hello there, thank you for your wonderful videos!! I would like to ask, is there a special Metal Thumb for Fujifilm X-T5? Also, do you believe that a screen protector is something I should have on my X-T5?
HI, Great Fujifilm materials, infos, usefull for all, I think. Thx for clarify menus and other functions. I'm still looking for information about screen protection for X-T30. Hi Chris. Thanks so much for all your videos. You are the very best at what you do. Very entertaining, concise and easy to understand . Regarding this video, which would chose between the metal thump grip and the hand grip ? Thanks
Love your videos, but I disagree with the soft release button and the thumb grip. I think it looks cool with the button and it indeed improved the user experience a bit, but with the cost of accidentally switched the camera on when put in the bag. If Fuji camera's shutter button and on/off switch aren't incorporated I would keen to use one. Also for the thumb rest, I have seen many people broke their hot shoe, they are not that strong and designed to be used like that....
I was going to say the same thing. I was at Joshua Tree and had one battery and it turned on in my bag. Had to borrow a friend's battery pack to get up and running and needed to top off throughout the day... I don't use the shutter button anymore.
Thanks Chris, great tips. I now have the accessory handgrip & shutter release button. Very useful However a word of caution about the Meke extension tubes. I tried them but they are so stiff and tricky to fit I was afraid they would damage the lens mount so I sent them back & got the Fuji MCEX 11 instead
@@ConquerorDash This one works amazingly well: tekiac.de/produkt/eyecup-for-fujifilm-x-t10-and-x-t20/ Now I wish there was a way for a shutter release...
@@ConquerorDash It does a little bit, but 1) that was the button I really never used, and 2) you can still hit it with your thumnail without too much trouble, at least I can. The alternative eyecups tend to block the screen from opening which was far less acceptable to me. Also, this is a very high quality eyecup, I feel it was well worth it.
Super awesome channel and been watching (I think) almost every video 🤣The shutter release button... I've read that they can "wear out" and actually damage the thread.... Have you had any issues from that or not?
Thanks for all your videos. I don't own a prime lens(yet). But will the extension tube(11mm) work on the Fuji zoom lenses. 10-24, 18-55 and 55-200? Thanks again. Keep up the great work.
GREAT! I had the shutter button already >> I was wondering about your opinion on the 3rd party lenses especially the fully manual lenses as I still suppose myself a beginner in photography!
Shutter button, they just fall off and I use a cable release so now I need to take it off, and it will surely get lost. Thumb grip nice, and I have one, but as you say it needs to come off to use a strobe or strobe trigger. Where did I put that thumb grip when I took it off at an event?
Hey Buddy, wish u a Happy Easter. Have u ever covered the pre-amps on the x-s10 or x-t4 cameras? If not, why? It in the s-t3, it wasnt very good. Wonder if they made improvements in these two models?
Thanks for the recommendation on the extension tube. I bought an ext. tube on eBay that was bad. Otherwise my X-H1 comes with great ergonomics, eye relief and a shutter button out of the box! :)
I had a similar (bad) experience with an eBay extension tube. Poor fit and erratic electronic contacts. Just pay the extra for a Fujifilm tube, people. I'm loving the MCEX-16
Hi Pal2Tech. Thank you for producing this Fuji accessories recommendation video. I'm contemplating on buying the JJC extension tubes to use with my 35/2.0, 50/20 and the 16/1.4. But first, I want to find out if there are any problems mounting these lenses to the tubes? Because I saw online that the MEIKE extension tubes had mounting issues specifically FUJICRON lenses (35/2.0, 50/2.0). Since you have a 35/2.0 and the 16/1.4 does the JJC exhibit these issues like the mounting being too tight on either the JJC or your copy of the Meike ext tubes? Thank you.
another great video. Can you recommend a good shutter release cable . I tried the app and it is hit and miss so I would like to go back to another option . I love the channel and how casual you are and I am always learning
On X-T20, there is no eyecup. I had to buy one to fit on my camera and I had to make a choice between the thumb grip and the eyecup because, they are all fixed on the hot shoe... bad !
@1:32 Mine used to get loose all the time even lost it, had to buy new one. When got new one used some blue Loctite and since it never came loose, later on found lost one in the bag. )))
Awesome as always! I'm missing tubes (next buy) and better eye cup. Does anybody know where I can find one for x-t30 which has similar form factor to the one in the video?
Great video as always! Unfortunately for me with my X-S10 the shutter button is not adaptable as there is no screw hole on top. :( ... But I like the extension tube idea! Thanks for your hot tips!
Hi 2 Pal got a question for you not sure if you've answered this before. I was wondering is there a way to get around the slow shutter speed limit in video mode? I own a XT-3 and I see that it says the shutter speed cannot go lower than the fps. I want to achieve the slow shutter Wang Ka Wai effect so I was wondering if there's some modes or buttons I need to press to get around it. Thank you so much your video has been very helpful for me to understand the capabilities of my camera :)
I have three of these already and two of them are good. But the shutter button release got lost within 2 hours of use. Anyway, I will get the eyecup. Glasses, u know 😉

I had to buy one to fit on my camera and I had to make a choice between the thumb grip and the eyecup because, they are all fixed on the hot shoe... bad !
any Idea how to transport Akkus safely?
@1:32 Mine used to get loose all the time even lost it, had to buy new one. When got new one used some blue Loctite and since it never came loose, later on found lost one in the bag. )))
I find the thumb grip to make very hard to adjust exposure compensation which I think it´s the worst con of it.
Awesome as always! I'm missing tubes (next buy) and better eye cup. Does anybody know where I can find one for x-t30 which has similar form factor to the one in the video?
I got the thumb grip for my X-T20, but it turns out it blocks the two rear buttons and command dial on that camera.
A SD card isn't bad either as a accessoiry😆😆
But indeed the things mentioned are in my bag.
How can I find the grip that is in your intro @0.07?
Ugh my shutter button keeps going MIA. How do you keep it so you don’t lose it? Thanks
Hi Pal! Do you suggest using a vintage macro lenses with m42 mount or these extension tubes?
I just bought the jjc extension tubes, and have been using them with an old 55mm M42 mount lens. Works perfectly.
if you purchase the shutter button from Tao Bao on line, you can get it at USD 1.50 per piece, in USA are you able to order from China direct?
Great video as always! Unfortunately for me with my X-S10 the shutter button is not adaptable as there is no screw hole on top. :( ... But I like the extension tube idea! Thanks for your hot tips!
Do you have a recommendation for an eye cup best suited for glasses?
Have you tried the meike battery grip for xt3?? Is it true that it doesnt work with other battery brands except for fuji??
What alternative battery 🔋 brands did you suggest?
Patona
Hi 2 Pal got a question for you not sure if you've answered this before.
I was wondering is there a way to get around the slow shutter speed limit in video mode?
I own a XT-3 and I see that it says the shutter speed cannot go lower than the fps. I want to achieve the slow shutter Wang Ka Wai effect so I was wondering if there's some modes or buttons I need to press to get around it.
Thank you so much your video has been very helpful for me to understand the capabilities of my camera :)
Try in All Intra mode, it should work out, but I myself did not check
I have three of these already and two of them are good. But the shutter button release got lost within 2 hours of use. Anyway, I will get the eyecup. Glasses, u know 😉
To pronounce Meike, it would be `May--ke`, sounds like `make` with an extended `ke` sound
btw the L bracket helps a lot!
Neewer extension tubes, $17 on Amazon
Great suggestions
The best accessories for under $50 are vintage lenses and adapters for said vintage lenses.
Nice guy, cool vids... well done
Mmmm - does the IBIS still work with the extension tubes?
