What a nightmare mate but love the honesty about what happened But that is the service that you need from your supplier A think lesson learned and a great reminder for all of us to check our equipment Keep up the great work 👍
This has just happened to me! I took spark plug out and tried again (under instruction of supplier) but no look so sent it back as it’s still under warranty thankfully! Full replacement if it’s completely goosed, thank the lord!
paul your engine should have shut down if you have a low oil switch fitted Honda low oil shutdown 'Oil Alert' wiring diagram. When the oil in the crankcase falls below a specified level the float switch (8) closes providing a path to ground for the yellow wire (Y) of the sensor (6). When this occurs the sensor grounds out the ignition primary lead (Bl) shutting down the engine.
You're right. Watch again. I made the mistake of topping up with a small amount of oil and carrying on work. Disaster followed. A stupid thing to do and I've only got myself to blame.
@@jetreadyuk I find all your videos useful. You are one of the few RUclipsrs who bothers to impart their (considerable) subject matter knowledge, freely. Awful news that. Did you exceed the 100 hours use? Unsure but have you got a timer on your machine to keep track of the hours it's been used, might be useful.
No I don't have a timer, but your comment has got me thinking about getting one. Having read the manual for the first time today, it recommends a daily oil check.
@@jetreadyuk can't see it being to costly, and you could plan a head with a service from say 80 hours onwards. Car manuals will say check your car before driving it but we all know we just get in the car and turn they key. Glad it's sorted, keep us informed if they get your old one fixed
An update from Arron at Q Services: "I had a look at the engine today (Sunday). The valve seat has cracked around the side and then the debris has then gone on the piston and cause damage to the top of it. The piston has a large crack in it now so it is a write off I'd say"

… btw my oil was topped up. Currently with the supplier waiting for diagnosis.
I hope you get sorted out. Running low on oil isn't covered by Honda warranty.
@@jetreadyuk the pump assembly was seized! Changed under warranty and sent back this morning 👍
@@mikeyyjohnsonn That's a good result. Who is your supplier?

You obviously have a good machine, because you get such good results. Sorry you had a wipeout. Glad you have a talented mechanic behind you.

How often do you think a service is required for these heavy duty machines?
According to the official Honda manual, an oil change should be done every every 6 months or 100 hours.
My GX630 was oil change after 100 hours, then oil and spark plug change every 200 hours
Change when the oil starts to discolour
Stop using small toys for big jobs then lol
TB. Same kit you started with I'm reliably informed ;-) Meet up?
