Even if GIR is -cute- crazy and incompetent, it's the better robot for Zim, cause if the Tallests had given a perfectly functional SIR to him, the robot would kill him because it would see Zim as the bad Invader he is.
I think that's actually an episode. Zim reprograms Gir to be a good SIR unit and he recognized Zim as the dead weight he actually is, overthrew him, and actually came pretty damn close to actually taking over the earth by himself in, like, a day
