    Surface Fishing With Something Different - The Top-Baiter!
    A few weeks ago we received an email from a local company called Top-Baiter, asking if we’d be interested in testing out one of there products, we duly agreed and thought while we were at it why not film the session and show you all how we got on.
    So for this latest episode we headed to Topcroft Fishery to see if we could catch a few fish using it and to see how it performed.
    To find out exactly how we got on watch this latest instalment, from the waters edge.
    As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.

    I've been using homemade floating feeders for years. I also make my own floating maggot feeders using Drennan small maggot feeders, a short length of pole elastic and a cheapo crystal waggler. Great for fishing shallow maggot at distance.
    Tip. Don't put groundbait in them. Mix is too heavy and creates a carpet of bait on the bottom, but you are trying to catch the fish up in the water. It defeats the object.
    Only use fine media that creates a cloud in the water.

    Yes lads,a very interesting video,but I hate to be a killjoy,as it were,the,term "fish in a barrel" springs to mind, it is so easy to catch on the surface in warm weather, its why a lot of fisheries have banned surface fishing altogether, I would suggest the old method of 2ft length of line coupled with a clear bubble float,chum mixers or bread crust would be just as effective as this contraption....keep up the good work though,take care, Terry G, North Wales.

    Excellent video lads. I get how it works with floaters but how does it release general sinking baits such as groundabit and pellets or is it only designed for floating or very cloudy groundbaits?

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  7 лет назад +1

      jason laverty Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it. I think it would work with any baits, the water would force anything out of the cage as soon as it hit the water... definitely something you could test and play around with I reckon. :-)

    Looks like a very clever design did the splash spook any of the fish u had feeding? also could this become incorporate in matches ie u can't fish floating baits could u use a sinking bait with it? also where can I get one of these please?
    Great video and love your channel guys.

      The splash actually attracts the fish, like a method or pellet feeder.
      As he says in the video, its like a dinner gong.
      Also, you'd be surprised how quickly fish return to the source of food even
      if they do get spooked.

      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  7 лет назад +1

      Jen Lugg thanks for the kind comments, glad you're enjoying the videos and channel! I think we answered all the points in the video... like Clive said the fish are almost attracted to the splash, they come in to investigate! Hungry commercial carp do anyway! Haha. I think you could use all manner of baits to be honest, when the cage hits the water it would force them out. There's a link in the video description of you'd like to find out more about the product.
      Hope your fishing is going well, tight lines!

    Can you tell if you feather the line on cast, I have one of these and find it’s releasing bait in the air , great vid by the way

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  4 года назад +1

      Thanks Carl, glad you enjoyed the video. Steve might feather it just before it hits the water and the line clip, but in general a nice smooth cast should keep the bait in.

      millsy they are £12.95 on the top baiter website. I don't know if that includes postage i doubt it. I still think thats a little steep for what it is though.

      They now also do a Mini-Baiter which is smaller in size - we filmed a video on it this summers, it's worth a look as it's much more suited to the match/pleasure angler.

    What reel line is best to use when fishing the top baiter?

  • @DomFishingUK
    @DomFishingUK 7 лет назад

    I can remember when I was a kid sticking a cage feeder to the bottom of a massive fat bodied waggler and filling it with groundbait never actually landed anything but it worked for getting bites

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
