One thing I felt was slept on was the fact that you could move while mounting. It made mounting feel a little more nicer to just strafe or go crouched or to stop crouching while your mounted. The beta for mw2 made me realize just how nice it felt to have that little feature

I really liked the abundance of content/maps at launch! That was a very nice surprise. But, I think that was a double edge sword as we only got 1 or 2 maps released every season after that. Also the foot step audio was great, it was a little too quiet but it made for a great pacing game because nobody was afraid to move around.

As much as we meme on vanguard, I do think it did some things right. Combat pacing was a great idea. Gunsmith, although op with 10 attachments, was fun. Although I wish not all weapons had nearly the same attachments. Also dead silence being a perk and giving us a means to have red dots on the mini map already makes it better than iw games.

I've been waiting for this video, great points as usual. One other thing I really liked about vanguard is the color customization. I was actually able to use the minimap for pretty much the first time ever since I was colorblind, and it was awesome (also the sharpness of the minimap with the little diamonds instead of dots made it very easy to see)

    • @Scroolewse
      @Scroolewse 2 года назад +1

I never noticed the lack of those options since I'm not colorblind but it's kinda baffling to me that this is something to be praised instead of expected. Do most other CoDs not have this? it's such a basic accessibility option developers really should face massive backlash for excluding it.
I guess it's kinda the fault of people like me lol. If it's just the colorblind people raising a stink about being excluded the developers might not even notice, and they definitely won't give a shit. This ought to be a change that _everyone_ champions.

I’ll be honest, Vanguard was what MW should’ve been.
A perk that offered the classic minimap, a footstep dampening perk, relatively decent base maps, the combat pacing feature and the Surplus kit which I consider a “mini double XP token”.
It’s just a damn shame Vanguard wasn’t as popular among players and wasn’t given as much post launch support as it should’ve gotten. I mean, we only got 3 new Zombies maps throughout 2022, where one was just a literal reskin of another.

      - No special calling card for earning a V2 Rocket
      - MVP screen being an absolute waste of time
      - Too many featured modes at any given time, splitting up an already small playerbase
      - Bugs and issues taking way too long to be fixed (Muzzle smoke was an issue in zombies for 10 whole months)
      - Only allowed to take 1 T1 perk. So you’re only able to counter one thing, and T1 perks counter dogs, Piercing Vision, explosions.

The operator leveling system is really cool. I enjoyed the leveling process- however I do wish it was a little deeper- with specific challenges similar to black ops 3 to unlock skins (albeit not as in depth due to no specialists- potentially some challenges with favorite weapons?) and I do wish there was a skin for maxing out every base operator in the game. This is an aesthetic/personal thing too- I wish the skins for maxing out each different task force weren’t just “black and silver with gas mask and helmet” across the board. I wish they were more distinctive based on which faction they belonged to (for example, the gas mask works for sure for task force sentinel the gas mask works fine but for shadow, maybe a semi ghillie suit or something more lightweight). I would also love to see unlocks for the zombies mode as well, with different unlocks for leveling the character in zombies (with maybe challenges unlocked at certain levels so that xp progression can be shared between MP and Zombies).
However one side of it that is absolutely a negative and is personally why I don’t want the system to return unless operator unlocks get changed- you have to spend close to $50 USD to get the DLC operators leveled up. Unless base operator unlocks are changed to mirror weapons, with a challenge unlocking the base and the skins being purchased through bundles also unlocking the operator, there is no reason to even level up the DLC operators outside of their golden outfit. This should absolutely be changed in the future if this system is brought back. Par for the course with vanguard, even one of the brightest spots of the MP has a sour taste to it as well. I do hope unlocks are changed going forward though.

Neat video! I liked and played VG a lot and got my first mastery camo on it. It was sone getting used to after cold war but i'm still playing it today. The integration with Warzone was very important to that as well. Hardcore was completely ruined by the missing throphy system and it worked bad even when they finally added it. I loved the operator leveling and I hope it gets back in mw2, probably not. Adding the shiphaus playlist helped a lot with leveling guns, but i would rather see more balance with other maps so we can play them all. That's something they didn't do properly which made it that the other maps were very underpopulated

Yeah, big agree on the feel of the gameplay flow, I think around half of my top 20 biggest CoD killstreaks ever were in this game, because if someone was willing to put the effort into learning maps/spawns/flow/etc., it would reward you. It's just really too bad (and I'm sure you'll be talking about this in the next video!) that the game overall didn't give much reason to play it after the initial launch content.

I disagree with the no lethal equipment thing, entirely because with Engineer style perks it was a camper/blind spot detector.
The only positive I really have is that hilarious field upgrade where you get that RC tank. A tank which has collision with allies letting you move people who are camping or being toxic out of their position or run over multiple enemies who couldn't fathom this exists.
My favorite is when you get an Ally who likes this, rides on it and pre-aims.

One of the few things I liked is that sledgehammer at least listened to the audience a little bit in the beginning. It seems like they just ported MW to a WW2 setting but at least they implemented ninja as a perk and changed the spawn system a bit. They still left bad gameplay decisions in but the main reason I'm not getting MW2 is because of their unwillingness to receive and implement feedback from the community thinking they always know what's best for the community. They just know what's best for their bottom line.

I'm not even memeing when I say that there basically wasn't footstep audio. Whenever someone showed it off, it wad in a quiet spot of a map in a custom lobby with one other person. In practice, there were a trillion noises always happening and I would say I actually heard a single footstep once every like...15 games.

I had good fun with Vanguard for 2 months between the launch and Warzone. Outside of that enormous map (Red Star?), I thought the maps were solid.
I prefer the more modern aesthetic, so credit to SHG for making something enjoyable out of WW2.

The pacing of the gameplay in Vanguard has been the best and the audio was handled better than MW19 and MWII BETA. I totally agree with all the points mentioned in the video, besides SHG fixed the essential problems with the requested things like removing the camera delay when spawning, adding ninja as a perk, weapon stats and more things that Infinity Ward didn't do it on purpose instead of giving something for all preferences.

I don't know why community hate Vanguard. I enjoy this game and even get my first V2 rocket. I like what they do for this game:
    1. Perks are very good balanced. We have Ninja perk and Radar perk, both of them resolve MW19 issues.
    2. Gunsmith with 10 attachments. I like that I can put all 10 attachments, not only 5 attachments on my weapon. This is very first game which offers to have all 10 attachments and not limited players options. Btw 10 attachments system do not make your weapon OP, if all atachments have their own pros and cons and weapons are balanced well.
    3. The Sprint to Fire time is the lowest comparing with MW2019 and CW. For example in Cold war avarge STF for AR is 400 m/s, while in Vanguard
AR's have avarage STF is less than 300m/s.
    4. Aim walking movement speed and movement speed superior comapring with previous titles. I love how fast and smooth you can move in Vanguard. Just try to play MW or CW and you will feel the difference regarding movement.

I wasn’t happy that you had to use a mine and a demolition charge to get the desired effect. Plus, it was iffy. Sometimes it would go off and sometimes it wouldn’t. The delay on the demolition charge made it unusable on its own.

I did have fun with Vanguard, really the only thing that made me stop playing was the game dying. After June or July, it took so long to find a match, it was just simply a waste of time. I didn't love the game enough to sit for 2 to 3 minutes between matches and wait. I tried again about a month ago, and after 5 minutes of waiting, I just simply logged off and uninstalled. I'd be willing to wait it out of the lobbies didn't disband, and so you only had to go through that once, but obviously that is not the case.

In my opinion, I think a vanguard is that one of COD that we didn’t even need to be released but the combat pacing is definitely something we should have in all cods. Plus this game had Dead Silence and Ninja perk which is definitely always needed in the game unlike IW😐. Combat pacing was literally the best thing they ever gave us when it comes to player choice on these NEW CODS lol. We can’t never play what we want to play anymore… we’re literally forced to play whatever we can play.

Vanguard played like MW2019 but more of an fast-paced version with some of the negative stuff cut back (quieter footsteps, radar perk, better mobility). I had my fun with game and kept me playing unlike MW2019. It’s unfortunate that this game got side lined starting with S3 just for Warzone (and I never played Warzone because I have no interest in BR games lol).

Vanguard was the best of the last 3 CoDs in my opinion. There’s a lot it could have done better, but the overall gameplay flow was top notch; it honestly reminded me a lot of Black Ops 2 in terms of flow.
Obviously audiences weren’t enthused with the World War 2 setting, but I thought it was awesome, and I really appreciated the attempt to stand out from its predecessors by allowing for robust weapon tuning via 10 attachments (even if I don’t want to see this return, it was fun for a year’s cycle) and the combat pacing really differentiated gameplay experiences even if the game became pretty one note late into its cycle due to lack of support.
Overall though, this game rocked, Sledgehammer just didn’t support it well enough.

As far as Spawns are concerned I thought I would mention that the coach for Optic said that the game played much worse and didn't reward COD fundamentals after the spawn overhaul. I know you're more of a Dom player than a HP guy, but thought I would mention it.
Overall, Vanguard was a generally fun game to kind of aimlessly run around the map and kill stuff because the guns and movement were fun enough and the flow was pretty fast. I'd say Vanguard was more fun than it was good if that makes any sense.

  • @bobthebuilder9509

The best thing about Vanguard is that it helped me save my money instead of buying a new CoD.
…On a more serious note I think the idea of Vanguard on paper was cool especially compared to the overrated Doorfare19. More attachments than MW19 (though this might also be a con), better balancing with guns, breakable doors, better footsteps, and generally no stealth patches.
Zombies, though nowhere near the best, was also fun when Shi No Numa released and we got to reunite with the Wunderwaffe DG-2, and the idea of upgrading your perks was cool in concept (though CW did it better IMO).

The gun balance In vanguard was awful. Snipers were way to slow for the ttk. The lmgs ran the game for a while with people just holding lanes holding r2 spraying. Mw19 had balanced weapons way better. Every gun was useful unlike vanguard. Mw19 had it issues but gun balance definitely wasn’t one of them.

Tbh I’m playing this game over MW2 rn. Does this game annoy me sometimes yes but there is something super fun about running ship haus 24/7 for me. It’s like a hardcore cocain binge but like it’s fun. I don’t ever feel frustrated as hell playing it and dying over and over. Maybe I just like a game mode that’s chaotic as hell. But something about it on this game specifically just feels good and I play it all the time when I’m bored
